| And Saul was consenting unto his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. | Ug si Saulo miuyon nga paga-patyon si Esteban. |
| And devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him. | Ug si Esteban gilubong sa mga tawong masimbahon, ug sila nanagminatay sa hilabihan gayud tungod kaniya. |
| But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison. | Apan si Saulo nagpadayon sa pagdaut sa iglesia, sa pagpanakasaka sa kabalayan sa pagtaral sa mga lalaki ug mga babaye, ug pagbanlod kanila sa bilanggoan. |
| They therefore that were scattered abroad, went about preaching the word. | Ug ang mga nanghitibulaag nahadiindiin sa paglakaw nga nanagwali sa pulong. |
| And Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and proclaimed unto them the Christ. | Ug si Felipe milugsong ngadto sa usa ka lungsod sa Samaria diin iyang giwali kanila ang Cristo. |
| And the multitudes gave heed with one accord unto the things that were spoken by Philip, when they heard, and saw the signs which he did. | Ug ang katawhan nagkahiusa sa ilang pagpaminaw sa gisulti ni Felipe sa pagkadungog ug pagkakita nila sa mga milagro nga iyang gibuhat. |
| For [from] many of those that had unclean spirits, they came out, crying with a loud voice: and many that were palsied, and that were lame, were healed. | Kay gikan sa daghang mga giyawaan nanggula ang mga mahugaw nga espiritu, nga nanagpaniyagit sa makusog nga tingog; ug nangaayo ang daghang mga paralitiko o mga bakul. |
| And there was much joy in that city. | Ug niadtong lungsora dihay dakung kalipay. |
| But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who beforetime in the city used sorcery, and amazed the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: | Apan sa wala pa kini, dihay usa ka tawo nga ginganlan si Simon nga tigsalamangka didto niadtong lungsora; ug siya nakapahibulong gayud sa mga tawo sa Samaria, ug nag-ingon nga siya gayud maoy usa ka dakung tawo. |
| to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is that power of God which is called Great. | Ug kaniya naminaw ang tanan, gikan sa mga iwit hangtud sa kadagkuan, nga nanag-ingon, "Kining tawhana mao ang gahum sa Dios, ang gahum nga ginganlag Daku." |
| And they gave heed to him, because that of long time he had amazed them with his sorceries. | Ug sila nanagpatalinghug kaniya, tungod kay sa hataas nga panahon sila gipahibulong man ugod niya pinaagi sa iyang salamangka. |
| But when they believed Philip preaching good tidings concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. | Apan sa diha nga nagpanoo na sila kang Felipe sa pagmantala niya sa Maayong Balita mahitungod sa gingharian sa Dios ug sa ngalan ni Jesu-Cristo, nanagpabautismo sila nga mga lalaki ug mga babaye. |
| And Simon also himself believed: and being baptized, he continued with Philip; and beholding signs and great miracles wrought, he was amazed. | Ug bisan gani siya si Simon mitoo, ug sa nabautismohan na, nagpabilin siya kang Felipe. Ug siya nahingangha sa kahibulong sa iyang pagkakita sa mga ilhanan ug mga dagkung milagro nga nangahimo. |
| Now when the apostles that were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: | Ug unya sa pagkadungog sa mga apostoles didto sa Jerusalem nga ang Samaria midawat sa pulong sa Dios, ilang gipaadtoan sila ni Pedro ug ni Juan, |
| who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit: | nga sa ila nang paghiabut, nanag-ampo alang kanila nga unta makadawat sila sa Espiritu Santo; |
| for as yet it was fallen upon none of them: only they had been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. | kay wala pa man kanilay hingkunsaran niini, ug sila igo man lamang nabautismohan sa ngalan sa Ginoong Jesus. |
| Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. | Ug sila gipandungan nilag mga kamot ug nakadawat sila sa Espiritu Santo. |
| Now when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, | Ug sa pagkakita ni Simon nga ang Espiritu gikahatag man pinaagi sa pagpandong sa mga kamot sa mga apostoles, sila sa salapi gitanyagan niya |
| saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit. | nga nag-ingon, "Hatagi usab ako niining gahuma, aron nga bisan kinsay akong pandungan sa akong mga kamot makadawat sa Espiritu Santo." |
| But Peter said unto him, Thy silver perish with thee, because thou hast thought to obtain the gift of God with money. | Apan si Pedro miingon kaniya, "Ang imong salapi malaglag pa unta uban kanimo, kay imong gidahum nga pinaagig salapi mabatonan mo ang gasa sa Dios! |
| Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right before God. | Wala kay bahin ni luna niining mga butanga, kay ang imong kasingkasing dili matarung sa atubangan sa Dios. |
| Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perhaps the thought of thy heart shall be forgiven thee. | Busa hinolsuli kining imong pagkadautan, ug pangamuyo sa Ginoo basin pa, kon ugaling mahimo man, pasayloon ka niining pagdahum sa imong kasingkasing. |
| For I see that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity. | Kay nakita ko nga ikaw anaa sa mapait nga apdo ug sa bugkos sa pagpangdaut." |
| And Simon answered and said, Pray ye for me to the Lord, that none of the things which ye have spoken come upon me. | Ug si Simon mitubag, "Iampo ako ninyo sa Ginoo, nga wala untay mahitabo kanako sa inyong gisulti." |
| They therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans. | Unya sa nakapamatuod ug nakasulti na sila sa pulong sa Ginoo, sila namalik sa Jerusalem, nga nanagwali sa Maayong Balita sa daghang mga balangay sa mga Samarianhon. |
| But an angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza: the same is desert. | Apan usa ka manolunda sa Ginoo miingon kang Felipe, "Tindog ug umadto ka sa habagatan, sa dalan nga gikan sa Jerusalem padulong sa Gaza." Kini diha sa awaaw. |
| And he arose and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship; | Ug si Felipe mitindog ug miadto. Ug tan-awa, usa ka Etiopiahanon nga eunoco ug alagad ni Candace, ang rayna sa mga Etiopiahanon, nga maoy gitugyanan sa tanang bahandi niini, miadto sa Jerusalem sa pagsimba didto, |
| and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. | ug karon nagpauli na siya nga naglingkod sa iyang kalisa ug nagbasa sa basahon sa profeta nga si Isaias. |
| And the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. | Ug ang Espiritu miingon kang Felipe, "Duol ug kumuyog ka nianang kalisa." |
| And Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? | Ug si Felipe midalagan ngadto kaniya, ug iyang nadungog siya nga nagbasa sa basahon sa profeta nga si Isaias, ug siya iyang gipangutana nga nag-ingon, "Nakasabut ka ba sa imong gibasa?" |
| And he said, How can I, except some one shall guide me? And he besought Philip to come up and sit with him. | Ug siya mitubag, "Unsaon ko man pagpakasabut, gawas kon adunay magatudlo kanako?" Ug iyang gihangyo si Felipe sa pagsakay ug sa paglingkod tupad kaniya. |
| Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth: | Ug ang bahin sa kasulatan nga iyang gibasa mao kini: Maingon nga dili lamang magatingog ang karnero nga pagadad-on sa ihawan o ang nating karnero sa atubangan sa iyang mag-aalot, maingon man siya, sa iyang baba wala magbuka. |
| In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: His generation who shall declare? For his life is taken from the earth. | Sa pagpahiubos kaniya, sa katarungan gihikawan siya. Ni kinsa pa man pagaasoyon ang iyang kaliwatan? Kay ang iyang kinabuhi gikuha na man gikan sa yuta." |
| And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other? | Ug ang eunoco miingon kang Felipe, "Suginli ako, kinsa may ipasabut niini sa profeta, ang iya bang kaugalingon o ang lain bang tawo?" |
| And Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached unto him Jesus. | Ug si Felipe mibungat sa iyang baba, ug ang Maayong Balita mahitungod kang Jesus iyang giwali kaniya nga diha magsugod sa maong bahin sa kasulatan. |
| And as they went on the way, they came unto a certain water; and the eunuch saith, Behold, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? | Ug sa nagpadayon sila sa pagpanaw nahiabut silag tubig, ug ang eunoco miingon, "Tan-awa, anaay tubig! Unsa pa may makaulang sa akong pagpabautismo?" |
| [And Philip said, If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.] | Ug si Felipe miingon, "Kon ikaw nagatoo uban sa tibuok mong kasingkasing, mahimo." Ug siya mitubag, "Ako nagatoo nga si Jesu-Cristo mao ang Anak sa Dios." |
| And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him. | Ug misugo siya sa pagpahunong sa kalisa ug silang duha, si Felipe ug ang eunoco, nanaug ngadto sa tubig ug iyang gibautismohan siya. |
| And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, for he went on his way rejoicing. | Ug sa nakahaw-as na sila gikan sa tubig, si Felipe gisakgaw sa Espiritu sa Ginoo; ug ang eunoco wala na makakita kaniya, ug sa iyang panaw mipadayon siya nga nagmalipayon. |
| But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached the gospel to all the cities, till he came to Caesarea. | Apan si Felipe hingkaplagan didto sa Asdod, ug sa iyang paghiagi didto, ang Maayong Balita iyang giwali sa tanang kalungsuran hangtud sa iyang paghiabut sa Cesarea. |
