Exodus 40	Exodus 40
Exodus 40:1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,	Exodus 40:1 And the Lord said to Moses,
Exodus 40:2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou rear up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.	Exodus 40:2 On the first day of the first month you are to put up the House of the Tent of meeting.
Exodus 40:3 And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and thou shalt screen the ark with the veil.	Exodus 40:3 And inside it put the ark of the law, hanging the veil before it.
Exodus 40:4 And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.	Exodus 40:4 And put the table inside, placing all the things on it in order; and put in the support for the lights, and let its lights be burning.
Exodus 40:5 And thou shalt set the golden altar for incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.	Exodus 40:5 And put the gold altar for burning perfumes in front of the ark of the law, hanging the curtain over the doorway of the House.
Exodus 40:6 And thou shalt set the altar of burnt-offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.	Exodus 40:6 And put the altar of burned offerings before the doorway of the House of the Tent of meeting.
Exodus 40:7 And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and shalt put water therein.	Exodus 40:7 And let the washing-vessel, with water in it, be put between the Tent of meeting and the altar.
Exodus 40:8 And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the screen of the gate of the court.	Exodus 40:8 And put up the hangings forming the open space all round it, with the curtain over its doorway.
Exodus 40:9 And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the furniture thereof: and it shall be holy.	Exodus 40:9 And take the holy oil and put it on the House and everything in it, and make it and everything in it holy:
Exodus 40:10 And thou shalt anoint the altar of burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and sanctify the altar: and the altar shall be most holy.	Exodus 40:10 And put oil on the altar of burned offering, and make it and all its vessels holy; this altar is to be most holy.
Exodus 40:11 And thou shalt anoint the laver and its base, and sanctify it.	Exodus 40:11 And put oil on the washing-vessel and its base, and make them holy.
Exodus 40:12 And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tent of meeting, and shalt wash them with water.	Exodus 40:12 Then let Aaron and his sons come to the door of the Tent of meeting; and after washing them with water,
Exodus 40:13 And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments; and thou shalt anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.	Exodus 40:13 You are to put on Aaron the holy robes; and you are to put oil on him, and make him holy, so that he may be my priest.
Exodus 40:14 And thou shalt bring his sons, and put coats upon them;	Exodus 40:14 And take his sons with him and put coats on them;
Exodus 40:15 and thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office: and their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.	Exodus 40:15 And put oil on them as you did on their father, so that they may be my priests: the putting on of oil will make them priests for ever, from generation to generation.
Exodus 40:16 Thus did Moses: according to all that Jehovah commanded him, so did he.	Exodus 40:16 And Moses did this; as the Lord gave him orders, so he did.
Exodus 40:17 And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.	Exodus 40:17 So on the first day of the first month in the second year the House was put up.
Exodus 40:18 And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up its pillars.	Exodus 40:18 Moses put up the House; placing its bases in position and lifting up its uprights, putting in the rods and planting the pillars in their places;
Exodus 40:19 And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:19 Stretching the outer tent over it, and covering it, as the Lord had given him orders.
Exodus 40:20 And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark:	Exodus 40:20 And he took the law and put it inside the ark, and put the rods at its side and the cover over it;
Exodus 40:21 and he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:21 And he took the ark into the House, hanging up the veil before it as the Lord had given him orders.
Exodus 40:22 And he put the table in the tent of meeting, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the veil.	Exodus 40:22 And he put the table in the Tent of meeting, on the north side outside the veil.
Exodus 40:23 And he set the bread in order upon it before Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:23 And he put the bread on it in order before the Lord, as the Lord had said.
Exodus 40:24 And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.	Exodus 40:24 The support for the lights he put in the Tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side:
Exodus 40:25 And he lighted the lamps before Jehovah; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:25 Lighting the lights before the Lord, as the Lord had given him orders.
Exodus 40:26 And he put the golden altar in the tent of meeting before the veil:	Exodus 40:26 And he put the gold altar in the Tent of meeting, in front of the veil:
Exodus 40:27 and he burnt thereon incense of sweet spices; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:27 Burning sweet perfumes on it, as the Lord had given him orders.
Exodus 40:28 And he put the screen of the door to the tabernacle.	Exodus 40:28 And he put up the curtain at the doorway of the House.
Exodus 40:29 And he set the altar of burnt-offering at the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered upon it the burnt-offering and the meal-offering; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:29 And at the door of the House of the Tent of meeting, he put the altar of burned offerings, offering on it the burned offering and the meal offering, as the Lord had given him orders.
Exodus 40:30 And he set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water therein, wherewith to wash.	Exodus 40:30 And between the altar and the Tent of meeting he put the vessel with water in it for washing.
Exodus 40:31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet thereat;	Exodus 40:31 In it the hands and feet of Moses and Aaron and his sons were washed,
Exodus 40:32 when they went into the tent of meeting, and when they came near unto the altar, they washed; as Jehovah commanded Moses.	Exodus 40:32 Whenever they went into the Tent of meeting, and when they came near the altar, as the Lord had given orders to Moses.
Exodus 40:33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the screen of the gate of the court. So Moses finished the work.	Exodus 40:33 And he put up the hangings forming the open space round the House and the altar, and put the curtain over the doorway. So Moses made the work complete.
Exodus 40:34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.	Exodus 40:34 Then the cloud came down covering the Tent of meeting, and the House was full of the glory of the Lord;
Exodus 40:35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of meeting, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.	Exodus 40:35 So that Moses was not able to go into the Tent of meeting, because the cloud was resting on it, and the House was full of the glory of the Lord.
Exodus 40:36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward, throughout all their journeys:	Exodus 40:36 And whenever the cloud was taken up from the House, the children of Israel went forward on their journey:
Exodus 40:37 but if the cloud was not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up.	Exodus 40:37 But while the cloud was there, they made no move till it was taken up.
Exodus 40:38 For the cloud of Jehovah was upon the tabernacle by day, and there was fire therein by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.	Exodus 40:38 For the cloud of the Lord was resting on the House by day, and at night there was fire in the cloud, before the eyes of all the people of Israel, and so it was through all their journeys.
