Psalms 132
|
Jehovah, remember for David All his affliction; | A Song of the going up. Lord, give thought to David, and to all his troubles; |
How he sware unto Jehovah, And vowed unto the Mighty One of Jacob: | How he made an oath to the Lord, and gave his word to the great God of Jacob, saying, |
Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, Nor go up into my bed; | Truly, I will not come into my house, or go to my bed, |
I will not give sleep to mine eyes, Or slumber to mine eyelids; | I will not give sleep to my eyes, or rest to my eyeballs, |
Until I find out a place for Jehovah, A tabernacle for the Mighty One of Jacob. | Till I have got a place for the Lord, a resting-place for the great God of Jacob. |
Lo, we heard of it in Ephrathah: We found it in the field of the wood. | We had news of it at Ephrathah: we came to it in the fields of the wood. |
We will go into his tabernacles; We will worship at his footstool. | Let us go into his tent; let us give worship at his feet. |
Arise, O Jehovah, into thy resting-place; Thou, and the ark of thy strength. | Come back, O Lord, to your resting-place; you and the ark of your strength. |
Let thy priest be clothed with righteousness; And let thy saints shout for joy. | Let your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let your saints give cries of joy. |
For thy servant David's sake Turn not away the face of thine anointed. | Because of your servant David, do not give up your king. |
Jehovah hath sworn unto David in truth; He will not turn from it: Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. | The Lord gave a true oath to David, which he will not take back, saying, I will give your kingdom to the fruit of your body. |
If thy children will keep my covenant And my testimony that I shall teach them, Their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore. | If your children keep my word, and the teachings which I will give them, their children will be rulers of your kingdom for ever. |
For Jehovah hath chosen Zion; He hath desired it for his habitation. | For the Lord's heart is on Zion, desiring it for his resting-place. |
This is my resting-place for ever: Here will I dwell; for I have desired it. | This is my rest for ever: here will I ever be; for this is my desire. |
I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. | My blessing will be on her food; and her poor will be full of bread. |
Her priests also will I clothe with salvation; And her saints shall shout aloud for joy. | Her priests will be clothed with salvation; and her saints will give cries of joy. |
There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. | There I will make the horn of David fertile: I have made ready a light for my king. |
His enemies will I clothe with shame; But upon himself shall his crown flourish. Psalm 133 A Song of Ascents; of David. | His haters will be clothed with shame; but I will make his crown shining. |
