Acts 16:1 And he came also to Derbe and to Lystra: and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess that believed; but his father was a Greek.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:1 E venne anche a Derba e a Listra; ed ecco, quivi era un certo discepolo, di nome Timoteo, figliuolo di una donna giudea credente, ma di padre greco.
Acts 16:2 The same was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:2 Di lui rendevano buona testimonianza i fratelli che erano in Listra ed in Iconio.
Acts 16:3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those parts: for they all knew that his father was a Greek.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:3 Paolo volle ch’egli partisse con lui; e presolo, lo circoncise a cagion de’ Giudei che erano in quei luoghi; perché tutti sapevano che il padre di lui era greco.
Acts 16:4 And as they went on their way through the cities, they delivered them the decrees to keep which had been ordained of the apostles and elders that were at Jerusalem.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:4 E passando essi per le città, trasmisero loro, perché le osservassero, le decisioni prese dagli apostoli e dagli anziani che erano a Gerusalemme.
Acts 16:5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:5 Le chiese dunque erano confermate nella fede, e crescevano in numero di giorno in giorno.
Acts 16:6 And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden of the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia;	Atti degli Apostoli 16:6 Poi traversarono la Frigia e il paese della Galazia, avendo lo Spirito Santo vietato loro d’annunziar la Parola in Asia;
Acts 16:7 and when they were come over against Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia; and the Spirit of Jesus suffered them not;	Atti degli Apostoli 16:7 e giunti sui confini della Misia, tentavano d’andare in Bitinia; ma lo Spirito di Gesù non lo permise loro;
Acts 16:8 and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:8 e passata la Misia, discesero in Troas.
Acts 16:9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: There was a man of Macedonia standing, beseeching him, and saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:9 E Paolo ebbe di notte una visione: Un uomo macedone gli stava dinanzi, e lo pregava dicendo: Passa in Macedonia e soccorrici.
Acts 16:10 And when he had seen the vision, straightway we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:10 E com’egli ebbe avuta quella visione, cercammo subito di partire per la Macedonia, tenendo per certo che Dio ci avea chiamati là, ad annunziar loro l’Evangelo.
Acts 16:11 Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;	Atti degli Apostoli 16:11 Perciò, salpando da Troas, tirammo diritto, verso Samotracia, e il giorno seguente verso Neapoli;
Acts 16:12 and from thence to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the first of the district, a [Roman] colony: and we were in this city tarrying certain days.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:12 e di là ci recammo a Filippi, che è città primaria di quella parte della Macedonia, ed è colonia romana; e dimorammo in quella città alcuni giorni.
Acts 16:13 And on the sabbath day we went forth without the gate by a river side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down, and spake unto the women that were come together.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:13 E nel giorno di sabato andammo fuori della porta, presso al fiume, dove supponevamo fosse un luogo d’orazione; e postici a sedere, parlavamo alle donne ch’eran quivi radunate.
Acts 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:14 E una certa donna, di nome Lidia, negoziante di porpora, della città di Tiatiri, che temeva Dio, ci stava ad ascoltare; e il Signore le aprì il cuore, per renderla attenta alle cose dette da Paolo.
Acts 16:15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide [there]. And she constrained us.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:15 E dopo che fu battezzata con quei di casa, ci pregò dicendo: Se mi avete giudicata fedele al Signore, entrate in casa mia, e dimoratevi. E ci fece forza.
Acts 16:16 And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain maid having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by soothsaying.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:16 E avvenne, come andavamo al luogo d’orazione, che incontrammo una certa serva, che avea uno spirito indovino e con l’indovinare procacciava molto guadagno ai suoi padroni.
Acts 16:17 The same following after Paul and us cried out, saying, These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim unto you the way of salvation.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:17 Costei, messasi a seguir Paolo e noi, gridava: Questi uomini son servitori dell’Iddio altissimo, e vi annunziano la via della salvezza.
Acts 16:18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, being sore troubled, turned and said to the spirit, I charge thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out that very hour.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:18 Così fece per molti giorni; ma essendone Paolo annoiato, si voltò e disse allo spirito: Io ti comando, nel nome di Gesù Cristo, che tu esca da costei. Ed esso uscì in quell’istante.
Acts 16:19 But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they laid hold on Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers,	Atti degli Apostoli 16:19 Ma i padroni di lei, vedendo che la speranza del loro guadagno era svanita, presero Paolo e Sila, e li trassero sulla pubblica piazza davanti ai magistrati,
Acts 16:20 and when they had brought them unto the magistrates, they said, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,	Atti degli Apostoli 16:20 e presentatili ai pretori, dissero: Questi uomini, che son Giudei, perturbano la nostra città,
Acts 16:21 and set forth customs which it is not lawful for us to receive, or to observe, being Romans.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:21 e predicano dei riti che non è lecito a noi che siam Romani né di ricevere, né di osservare.
Acts 16:22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:22 E la folla si levò tutta insieme contro a loro; e i pretori, strappate loro di dosso le vesti, comandarono che fossero battuti con le verghe.
Acts 16:23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:	Atti degli Apostoli 16:23 E dopo aver loro date molte battiture, li cacciarono in prigione, comandando al carceriere di custodirli sicuramente.
Acts 16:24 who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:24 Il quale, ricevuto un tal ordine, li cacciò nella prigione più interna, e serrò loro i piedi nei ceppi.
Acts 16:25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns unto God, and the prisoners were listening to them;	Atti degli Apostoli 16:25 Or sulla mezzanotte Paolo e Sila, pregando, cantavano inni a Dio; e i carcerati li ascoltavano.
Acts 16:26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison-house were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:26 E ad un tratto, si fece un gran terremoto, talché la prigione fu scossa dalle fondamenta; e in quell’istante tutte le porte si apersero, e i legami di tutti si sciolsero.
Acts 16:27 And the jailor, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:27 Il carceriere, destatosi, e vedute le porte della prigione aperte, tratta la spada, stava per uccidersi, pensando che i carcerati fossero fuggiti.
Acts 16:28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:28 Ma Paolo gridò ad alta voce: Non ti far male alcuno, perché siam tutti qui.
Acts 16:29 And he called for lights and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,	Atti degli Apostoli 16:29 E quegli, chiesto un lume, saltò dentro, e tutto tremante si gettò ai piedi di Paolo e di Sila;
Acts 16:30 and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?	Atti degli Apostoli 16:30 e menatili fuori, disse: Signori, che debbo io fare per esser salvato?
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:31 Ed essi risposero: Credi nel Signor Gesù, e sarai salvato tu e la casa tua.
Acts 16:32 And they spake the word of the Lord unto him, with all that were in his house.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:32 Poi annunziarono la parola del Signore a lui e a tutti coloro che erano in casa sua.
Acts 16:33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, immediately.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:33 Ed egli, presili in quell’istessa ora della notte, lavò loro le piaghe; e subito fu battezzato lui con tutti i suoi.
Acts 16:34 And he brought them up into his house, and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, with all his house, having believed in God.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:34 E menatili su in casa sua, apparecchiò loro la tavola, e giubilava con tutta la sua casa, perché avea creduto in Dio.
Acts 16:35 But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, Let those men go.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:35 Or come fu giorno, i pretori mandarono i littori a dire: Lascia andar quegli uomini.
Acts 16:36 And the jailor reported the words to Paul, [saying], The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore come forth, and go in peace.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:36 E il carceriere riferì a Paolo queste parole, dicendo: I pretori hanno mandato a mettervi in libertà; or dunque uscite, e andatevene in pace.
Acts 16:37 But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Romans, and have cast us into prison; and do they now cast us out privily? Nay verily; but let them come themselves and bring us out.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:37 Ma Paolo disse loro: Dopo averci pubblicamente battuti senza essere stati condannati, noi che siam cittadini romani, ci hanno cacciato in prigione; e ora ci mandan via celatamente? No davvero! Anzi, vengano essi stessi a menarci fuori.
Acts 16:38 And the sergeants reported these words unto the magistrates: and they feared when they heard that they were Romans;	Atti degli Apostoli 16:38 E i littori riferirono queste parole ai pretori; e questi ebbero paura quando intesero che eran Romani;
Acts 16:39 and they came and besought them; and when they had brought them out, they asked them to go away from the city.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:39 e vennero, e li pregarono di scusarli; e menatili fuori, chiesero loro d’andarsene dalla città.
Acts 16:40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into [the house] of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.	Atti degli Apostoli 16:40 Allora essi, usciti di prigione, entrarono in casa di Lidia; e veduti i fratelli, li confortarono, e si partirono.
