| And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, | E la parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini: |
| Son of man, set thy face toward the children of Ammon, and prophesy against them: | "Figliuol d’uomo, volgi la tua faccia verso i figliuoli d’Ammon, e profetizza contro di loro; e di’ ai figliuoli d’Ammon: |
| and say unto the children of Ammon, Hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was made desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity: | Ascoltate la parola del Signore, dell’Eterno: Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché tu hai detto: Ah! Ah! quando il mio santuario è stato profanato, quando il suolo d’Israele è stato desolato, e quando la casa di Giuda è andata in cattività, |
| therefore, behold, I will deliver thee to the children of the east for a possession, and they shall set their encampments in thee, and make their dwellings in thee; they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk. | ecco, io ti do in possesso de’ figliuoli d’Oriente, ed essi porranno in te i loro accampamenti, e stabiliranno in mezzo a te le loro dimore; e saranno essi che mangeranno i tuoi frutti, essi che berranno il tuo latte. |
| And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the children of Ammon a couching-place for flocks: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. | Io farò di Rabba un pascolo per i cammelli, e del paese de’ figliuoli d’Ammon, un ovile per le pecore; e voi conoscerete che io sono l’Eterno. |
| For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast clapped thy hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the despite of thy soul against the land of Israel; | Poiché così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché tu hai applaudito, e battuto de’ piedi, e ti sei rallegrato con tutto lo sprezzo che nutrivi dell’anima per la terra d’Israele, |
| therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the nations; and I will cut thee off from the peoples, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah. | ecco, io stendo la mia mano contro di te, ti do in pascolo alle nazioni, ti stermino di fra i popoli, ti fo sparire dal novero dei paesi, ti distruggo, e tu conoscerai che io sono l’Eterno. |
| Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the nations; | Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché Moab e Seir dicono: Ecco, la casa di Giuda è come tutte le altre nazioni, |
| therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim, | ecco, io aprirò il fianco di Moab dal lato delle città, dal lato delle città che stanno alle sue frontiere e sono lo splendore del paese, Beth-Ieschimoth, Baal-meon e Kiriathaim; |
| unto the children of the east, [to go] against the children of Ammon; and I will give them for a possession, that the children of Ammon may not be remembered among the nations. | aprirò il fianco di Moab ai figliuoli dell’Oriente, nello stesso modo che aprirò loro il fianco de’ figliuoli d’Ammon; e darò questi paesi in loro possesso, affinché i figliuoli d’Ammon non sian più mentovati fra le nazioni; |
| and I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am Jehovah. | ed eserciterò i miei giudizi su Moab, ed essi conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno. |
| Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them; | Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché quelli d’Edom si sono crudelmente vendicati della casa di Giuda e si sono resi gravemente colpevoli vendicandosi d’essa, |
| therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, I will stretch out my hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; even unto Dedan shall they fall by the sword. | così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Io stenderò la mia mano contro Edom, sterminerò uomini e bestie, ne farò un deserto fino da Theman, e fino a Dedan cadranno per la spada. |
| And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my wrath; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord Jehovah. | E rimetterò la mia vendetta sopra Edom nelle mani del mio popolo d’Israele; esso tratterà Edom secondo la mia ira e secondo il mio furore; ed essi conosceranno la mia vendetta, dice il Signore, l’Eterno. |
| Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with despite of soul to destroy with perpetual enmity; | Così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Poiché i Filistei si sono abbandonati alla vendetta e si sono crudelmente vendicati, collo sprezzo che nutrivano nell’anima, dandosi alla distruzione per odio antico, |
| therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. | così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Ecco, io stenderò la mia mano contro i Filistei, sterminerò i Kerethei, e distruggerò il rimanente della costa del mare; |
| And I will execute great vengeance upon them with wrathful rebukes; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them. | ed esercitò su loro grandi vendette, e li riprenderò con furore; ed essi conosceranno che io sono l’Eterno, quando avrò fatto loro sentire la mia vendetta". |
