| A soft answer turneth away wrath; But a grievous word stirreth up anger. | Кроткий ответ отвращает гнев, а оскорбительное слово возбуждает ярость. |
| The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright; But the mouth of fools poureth out folly. | Язык мудрых сообщает добрые знания, а уста глупых изрыгают глупость. |
| The eyes of Jehovah are in every place, Keeping watch upon the evil and the good. | На всяком месте очи Господни: они видят злых и добрых. |
| A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit. | Кроткий язык--древо жизни, но необузданный--сокрушение духа. |
| A fool despiseth his father's correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence. | Глупый пренебрегает наставлением отца своего; а кто внимает обличениям, тот благоразумен. |
| In the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. | В доме праведника--обилие сокровищ, а в прибытке нечестивого--расстройство. |
| The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so. | Уста мудрых распространяют знание, а сердце глупых не так. |
| The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight. | Жертва нечестивых--мерзость пред Господом, а молитва праведных благоугодна Ему. |
| The way of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. | Мерзость пред Господом--путь нечестивого, а идущего путем правды Он любит. |
| There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way; [And] he that hateth reproof shall die. | Злое наказание--уклоняющемуся от пути, и ненавидящий обличение погибнет. |
| Sheol and Abaddon are before Jehovah: How much more then the hearts of the children of men! | Преисподняя и Аваддон [открыты] пред Господом, тем более сердца сынов человеческих. |
| A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise. | Не любит распутный обличающих его, и к мудрым не пойдет. |
| A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken. | Веселое сердце делает лице веселым, а при сердечной скорби дух унывает. |
| The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly. | Сердце разумного ищет знания, уста же глупых питаются глупостью. |
| All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart [hath] a continual feast. | Все дни несчастного печальны; а у кого сердце весело, у того всегда пир. |
| Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith. | Лучше немногое при страхе Господнем, нежели большое сокровище, и при нем тревога. |
| Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, Than a stalled ox and hatred therewith. | Лучше блюдо зелени, и при нем любовь, нежели откормленный бык, и при нем ненависть. |
| A wrathful man stirreth up contention; But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. | Вспыльчивый человек возбуждает раздор, а терпеливый утишает распрю. |
| The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; But the path of the upright is made a highway. | Путь ленивого--как терновый плетень, а путь праведных--гладкий. |
| A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish man despiseth his mother. | Мудрый сын радует отца, а глупый человек пренебрегает мать свою. |
| Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom; But a man of understanding maketh straight his going. | Глупость--радость для малоумного, а человек разумный идет прямою дорогою. |
| Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed; But in the multitude of counsellors they are established. | Без совета предприятия расстроятся, а при множестве советников они состоятся. |
| A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth; And a word in due season, how good is it! | Радость человеку в ответе уст его, и как хорошо слово вовремя! |
| To the wise the way of life [goeth] upward, That he may depart from Sheol beneath. | Путь жизни мудрого вверх, чтобы уклониться от преисподней внизу. |
| Jehovah will root up the house of the proud; But he will establish the border of the widow. | Дом надменных разорит Господь, а межу вдовы укрепит. |
| Evil devices are an abomination to Jehovah; But pleasant words [are] pure. | Мерзость пред Господом--помышления злых, слова же непорочных угодны Ему. |
| He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; But he that hateth bribes shall live. | Корыстолюбивый расстроит дом свой, а ненавидящий подарки будет жить. |
| The heart of the righteous studieth to answer; But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. | Сердце праведного обдумывает ответ, а уста нечестивых изрыгают зло. |
| Jehovah is far from the wicked; But he heareth the prayer of the righteous. | Далек Господь от нечестивых, а молитву праведников слышит. |
| The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; [And] good tidings make the bones fat. | Светлый взгляд радует сердце, добрая весть утучняет кости. |
| The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life Shall abide among the wise. | Ухо, внимательное к учению жизни, пребывает между мудрыми. |
| He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul; But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding. | Отвергающий наставление не радеет о своей душе; а кто внимает обличению, тот приобретает разум. |
| The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor [goeth] humility. | Страх Господень научает мудрости, и славе предшествует смирение. |
