| Das ist das Geschlecht Esaus, der da heißt Edom. | Now these are the generations of Esau (the same is Edom). |
| Esau nahm Weiber von den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter Elons, des Hethiters, und Oholibama, die Tochter des Ana, die Enkelin des Zibeons, des Heviters, | Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite, |
| und Basmath, Ismaels Tochter, Nebajoths Schwester. | and Basemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebaioth. |
| Und Ada gebar dem Esau Eliphas, aber Basmath gebar Reguel. | And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Basemath bare Reuel; |
| Oholibama gebar Jehus, Jaelam und Korah. Das sind Esaus Kinder, die ihm geboren sind im Lande Kanaan. | and Oholibamah bare Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, that were born unto him in the land of Canaan. |
| Und Esau nahm seine Weiber, Söhne und Töchter und alle Seelen seines Hauses, seine Habe und alles Vieh mit allen Gütern, so er im Lande Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog in ein ander Land, hinweg von seinem Bruder Jakob. | And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the souls of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his possessions, which he had gather in the land of Canaan; and went into a land away from his brother Jacob. |
| Denn ihre Habe war zu groß, daß sie nicht konnten beieinander wohnen; und das Land darin sie Fremdlinge waren, vermochte sie nicht zu ertragen vor der Menge ihres Viehs. | For their substance was too great for them to dwell together; and the land of their sojournings could not bear them because of their cattle. |
| Also wohnte Esau auf dem Gebirge Seir. Und Esau ist der Edom. | And Esau dwelt in mount Seir: Esau is Edom. |
| Dies ist das Geschlecht Esaus, von dem die Edomiter herkommen, auf dem Gebirge Seir. | And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir: |
| Und so heißen die Kinder Esaus: Eliphas, der Sohn Adas, Esaus Weibes; Reguel, der Sohn Basmaths, Esaus Weibes. | these are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau. |
| Des Eliphas Söhne aber waren diese: Theman, Omar, Zepho, Gaetham und Kenas. | And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz. |
| Und Thimna war ein Kebsweib des Eliphas, Esaus Sohnes; die gebar ihm Amalek. Das sind die Kinder von Ada, Esaus Weib. | And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these are the sons of Adah, Esau's wife. |
| Die Kinder aber Reguels sind diese: Nahath, Serah, Samma, Missa. Das sind die Kinder von Basmath, Esaus Weib. | And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife. |
| Die Kinder aber von Oholibama, Esaus Weib, der Tochter des Ana, der Enkelin Zibeons, sind diese, die sie dem Esau gebar: Jehus, Jaelam und Korah. | And these were the sons of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah. |
| Das sind die Fürsten unter den Kindern Esaus. Die Kinder des Eliphas, des ersten Sohnes Esaus: der Fürst Theman, der Fürst Omar, der Fürst Zepho, der Fürst Kenas, | These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the first-born of Esau: chief Teman, chief Omar, chief Zepho, chief Kenaz, |
| der Fürst Korah, der Fürst Gaetham, der Fürst Amalek. Das sind die Fürsten von Eliphas im Lande Edom und sind Kinder der Ada. | chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek: these are the chiefs that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah. |
| Und das sind die Kinder Reguels, Esaus Sohnes: der Fürst Nahath, der Fürst Serah, der Fürst Samma, der Fürst Missa. Das sind die Fürsten von Reguel im Lande der Edomiter und sind Kinder von der Basmath, Esaus Weib. | And these are the sons of Reuel, Esau's son: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah: these are the chiefs that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife. |
| Das sind die Kinder Oholibamas, Esaus Weibes: der Fürst Jehus, der Fürst Jaelam, der Fürst Korah. Das sind die Fürsten von Oholibama, der Tochter des Ana, Esaus Weib. | And these are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau's wife: chief Jeush, chief Jalam, chief Korah: these are the chiefs that came of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife. |
| Das sind die Kinder und ihre Fürsten. Er ist der Edom. | These are the sons of Esau, and these are their chiefs: the same is Edom. |
| Die Kinder aber von Seir, dem Horiter, die im Lande wohnten, sind diese: Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana, Dison, Ezer und Disan. | These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan and Shobal and Zibeon and Anah, |
| Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter, Kinder des Seir, im Lande Edom. | and Dishon and Ezer and Dishan: these are the chiefs that came of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom. |
| Aber des Lotan Kinder waren diese: Hori, Heman; und Lotans Schwester hieß Thimna. | And the children of Lotan were Hori and Heman. And Lotan's sister was Timna. |
| Die Kinder von Sobal waren diese: Alwan, Manahath, Ebal, Sepho und Onam. | And these are the children of Shobal: Alvan and Manahath and Ebal, Shepho and Onam. |
| Die Kinder von Zibeon waren diese: Aja und Ana. Das ist der Ana, der in der Wüste die warmen Quellen fand, da er seines Vaters Zibeon Esel hütete. | And these are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; this is Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father. |

| Dies sind die Fürsten der Horiter: der Fürst Lotan, der Fürst Sobal, der Fürst Zibeon, der Fürst Ana, | These are the chiefs that came of the Horites: chief Lotan, chief Shobal, chief Zibeon, chief Anah, |
| der Fürst Dison, der Fürst Ezer, der Fürst Disan. Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter, die regiert haben im Lande Seir. | chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan: these are the chiefs that came of the Horites, according to their chiefs in the land of Seir. |
| Die Könige aber, die im Lande Edom regiert haben, ehe denn die Kinder Israel Könige hatten, sind diese: | And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel. |
| Bela war König in Edom, ein Sohn Beors, und seine Stadt hieß Dinhaba. | And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom; and the name of his city was Dinhabah. |
| Und da Bela starb, ward König an seiner Statt Jobab, ein Sohn Serahs von Bozra. | And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead. |
| Da Jobab starb, ward an seiner Statt König Husam aus der Themaniter Lande. | And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead. |
| Da Husam starb, ward König an seiner Statt Hadad, ein Sohn Bedads, der die Midianiter schlug auf der Moabiter Felde; und seine Stadt hieß Awith. | And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith. |
| Da Hadad starb, regierte Samla von Masrek. | And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. |
| Da Samla starb, ward Saul König, von Rehoboth am Strom. | And Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth by the River reigned in his stead. |
| Da Saul starb, ward an seiner Statt König Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors. | And Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead. |
| Da Baal-Hanan, Achbors Sohn, starb, ward an seiner Statt König Hadar; und seine Stadt hieß Pagu, und sein Weib Mehetabeel, eine Tochter Matreds, die Mesahabs Tochter war. | And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab. |
| Also heißen die Fürsten von Esau in ihren Geschlechtern, Örtern und Namen: der Fürst Thimna, der Fürst Alwa, der Fürst Jetheth, | And these are the names of the chiefs that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names: chief Timna, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth, |
| der Fürst Oholibama, der Fürst Ela, der Fürst Pinon, | chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon, |
| der Fürst Kenas, der Fürst Theman, der Fürst Mibzar, | chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar, |
| der Fürst Magdiel, der Fürst Iram. Das sind die Fürsten in Edom, wie sie gewohnt haben in ihrem Erblande. Das ist Esau, der Vater der Edomiter. | chief Magdiel, chief Iram: these are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esau, the father of the Edomites. |
