Deuteronomium 20:1 Wenn du in einen Krieg ziehst wider deine Feinde und siehst Rosse und Wagen eines Volks, das größer ist als du, so fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen; denn der HER, dein Gott, der dich aus Ägyptenland geführt hat, ist mit dir.	Deuteronomy 20:1 When you go out to war against other nations, and come face to face with horses and war-carriages and armies greater in number than yourselves, have no fear of them: for the Lord your God is with you, who took you up out of the land of Egypt.
Deuteronomium 20:2 Wenn ihr nun hinzukommt zum Streit, so soll der Priester herzutreten und mit dem Volk reden	Deuteronomy 20:2 And when you are on the point of attacking, let the priest come forward and say to the people,
Deuteronomium 20:3 und zu ihnen sprechen: Israel, höre zu! Ihr geht heute in den Streit wider eure Feinde; euer Herz verzage nicht, fürchtet euch nicht und erschreckt nicht und laßt euch nicht grauen vor ihnen;	Deuteronomy 20:3 Give ear, O Israel: today you are going forward to the fight; let your heart be strong; do not let uncontrolled fear overcome you because of those who are against you;
Deuteronomium 20:4 denn der HERR, euer Gott, geht mit euch, daß er für euch streite mit euren Feinden, euch zu helfen.	Deuteronomy 20:4 For the Lord your God goes with you, fighting for you to give you salvation from those who are against you.
Deuteronomium 20:5 Aber die Amtleute sollen mit dem Volk reden und sagen: Welcher ein neues Haus gebaut hat und hat's noch nicht eingeweiht, der gehe hin und bleibe in seinem Hause, auf daß er nicht sterbe im Krieg und ein anderer weihe es ein.	Deuteronomy 20:5 And let the overseers say to the people, If there is any man who has made for himself a new house and has not gone into it, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another may not take his house for himself.
Deuteronomium 20:6 Welcher einen Weinberg gepflanzt hat und hat seine Früchte noch nicht genossen, der gehe hin und bleibe daheim, daß er nicht im Kriege sterbe und ein anderer genieße seine Früchte.	Deuteronomy 20:6 Or if any man has made a vine-garden without taking the first-fruits of it, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another may not be the first to make use of the fruit.
Deuteronomium 20:7 Welcher ein Weib sich verlobt hat und hat sie noch nicht heimgeholt, der gehe hin und bleibe daheim, daß er nicht im Kriege sterbe und ein anderer hole sie heim.	Deuteronomy 20:7 Or if any man is newly married and has had no sex relations with his wife, let him go back to his house, so that in the event of his death in the fight, another man may not take her.
Deuteronomium 20:8 Und die Amtleute sollen weiter mit dem Volk reden und sprechen: Welcher sich fürchtet und ein verzagtes Herz hat, der gehe hin und bleibe daheim, auf daß er nicht auch seiner Brüder Herz feige mache, wie sein Herz ist.	Deuteronomy 20:8 And let the overseers go on to say to the people, If there is any man whose heart is feeble with fear, let him go back to his house before he makes the hearts of his countrymen feeble.
Deuteronomium 20:9 Und wenn die Amtleute ausgeredet haben mit dem Volk, so sollen sie die Hauptleute vor das Volk an die Spitze stellen.	Deuteronomy 20:9 Then, after saying these words to the people, let the overseers put captains over the army.
Deuteronomium 20:10 Wenn du vor eine Stadt ziehst, sie zu bestreiten, so sollst du ihr den Frieden anbieten.	Deuteronomy 20:10 When you come to a town, before attacking it, make an offer of peace.
Deuteronomium 20:11 Antwortet sie dir friedlich und tut dir auf, so soll das Volk, das darin gefunden wird dir zinsbar und untertan sein.	Deuteronomy 20:11 And if it gives you back an answer of peace, opening its doors to you, then all the people in it may be put to forced work as your servants.
Deuteronomium 20:12 Will sie aber nicht friedlich mit dir handeln und will mit dir kriegen, so belagere sie.	Deuteronomy 20:12 If however it will not make peace with you, but war, then let it be shut in on all sides:
Deuteronomium 20:13 Und wenn sie der HERR, dein Gott, dir in die Hand gibt, so sollst du alles, was männlich darin ist, mit des Schwertes Schärfe schlagen.	Deuteronomy 20:13 And when the Lord your God has given it into your hands, let every male in it be put to death without mercy.
Deuteronomium 20:14 Allein die Weiber, die Kinder und das Vieh und alles, was in der Stadt ist, und allen Raub sollst du unter dich austeilen und sollst essen von der Ausbeute deiner Feinde, die dir der HERR, dein Gott, gegeben hat.	Deuteronomy 20:14 But the women and the children and the cattle and everything in the town and all its wealth, you may take for yourselves: the wealth of your haters, which the Lord your God has given you, will be your food.
Deuteronomium 20:15 Also sollst du allen Städten tun, die sehr ferne von dir liegen und nicht von den Städten dieser Völker hier sind.	Deuteronomy 20:15 So you are to do to all the towns far away, which are not the towns of these nations.
Deuteronomium 20:16 Aber in den Städten dieser Völker, die dir der HERR, dein Gott, zum Erbe geben wird, sollst du nichts leben lassen, was Odem hat,	Deuteronomy 20:16 But in the towns of these peoples whose land the Lord your God is giving you for your heritage, let no living thing be kept from death:
Deuteronomium 20:17 sondern sollst sie verbannen, nämlich die Hethiter, Amoriter, Kanaaniter, Pheresiter, Heviter und Jebusiter, wie dir der HERR, dein Gott, geboten hat,	Deuteronomy 20:17 Give them up to the curse; the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, as the Lord your God has given you orders:
Deuteronomium 20:18 auf daß sie euch nicht lehren tun alle die Greuel, die sie ihren Göttern tun, und ihr euch versündigt an dem HERR, eurem Gott.	Deuteronomy 20:18 So that you may not take them as your example and do all the disgusting things which they do in the worship of their gods, so sinning against the Lord your God.
Deuteronomium 20:19 Wenn du vor einer Stadt lange Zeit liegen mußt, wider die du streitest, sie zu erobern, so sollst die Bäume nicht verderben, daß du mit Äxten dran fährst; denn du kannst davon essen, darum sollst du sie nicht ausrotten. Ist's doch Holz auf dem Felde und nicht ein Mensch, daß es vor dir ein Bollwerk sein könnte.	Deuteronomy 20:19 If in war a town is shut in by your armies for a long time, do not let its trees be cut down and made waste; for their fruit will be your food; are the trees of the countryside men for you to take up arms against them?
Deuteronomium 20:20 Welches aber Bäume sind, von denen du weißt, daß man nicht davon ißt, die sollst du verderben und ausrotten und Bollwerk daraus bauen wider die Stadt, die mit dir kriegt, bis du ihrer mächtig werdest.	Deuteronomy 20:20 Only those trees which you are certain are not used for food may be cut down and put to destruction: and you are to make walls of attack against the town till it is taken.
