Esra 4:1 Da aber die Widersacher Juda's und Benjamins hörten, daß die Kinder der Gefangenschaft dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, den Tempel bauten,	Ezra 4:1 Now news came to the haters of Judah and Benjamin that the people who had come back were building a Temple to the Lord, the God of Israel;
Esra 4:2 kamen sie zu Serubabel und zu den Obersten der Vaterhäuser und sprachen zu ihnen: Wir wollen mit euch bauen; denn wir suchen euren Gott gleichwie ihr, und wir haben ihm geopfert, seit der Zeit da Asar-Haddon, der König von Assyrien, uns hat heraufgebracht.	Ezra 4:2 Then they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of families, and said to them, Let us take part in the building with you; for we are servants of your God, even as you are; and we have been making offerings to him from the days of Esar-haddon, king of Assyria, who put us here.
Esra 4:3 Aber Serubabel und Jesua und die andern Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel antworteten ihnen: Es ziemt sich nicht, uns und euch, das Haus unsers Gottes zu bauen; sondern wir wollen allein bauen dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, wie uns Kores, der König in Persien, geboten hat.	Ezra 4:3 But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of families in Israel said to them, You have no part with us in the building of a house for our God; we ourselves will do the work together for the Lord, the God of Israel, as Cyrus, king of Persia, has given us orders.
Esra 4:4 Da hinderte das Volk im Lande die Hand des Volkes Juda und schreckten sie ab im Bauen	Ezra 4:4 Then the people of the land made the hands of the people of Judah feeble, troubling them with fear in their building;
Esra 4:5 und dingten Ratgeber wider sie und verhinderten ihren Rat, solange Kores, der König in Persien, lebte, bis an das Königreich Darius, des Königs in Persien.	Ezra 4:5 And they gave payment to men who made designs against them and kept them from effecting their purpose, all through the time of Cyrus, king of Persia, till Darius became king.
Esra 4:6 Und da Ahasveros König ward, im Anfang seines Königreichs, schrieben sie eine Anklage wider die von Juda und Jerusalem.	Ezra 4:6 And in the time of Ahasuerus, when he first became king, they put on record a statement against the people of Judah and Jerusalem.
Esra 4:7 Und zu den Zeiten Arthahsasthas schrieb Bislam, Mithredath, Tabeel und die andern ihres Rats an Arthahsastha, den König in Persien. Die Schrift aber des Briefes war syrisch, und er war auf syrisch verdolmetscht.	Ezra 4:7 And in the time of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his friends, sent a letter to Artaxerxes, king of Persia, writing it in the Aramaean writing and language.
Esra 4:8 Rehum, der Kanzler, und Simsai, der Schreiber schrieben diesen Brief wider Jerusalem an Arthahsastha, den König:	Ezra 4:8 Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe, sent a letter against Jerusalem, to Artaxerxes the king;
Esra 4:9 Wir, Rehum, der Kanzler, und Simsai, der Schreiber, und die andern des Rats: die von Dina, von Arpharsach, von Tarpal, von Persien, von Erech, von Babel, von Susan, von Deha und von Elam,	Ezra 4:9 The letter was sent by Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe and their friends; the Dinaites and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,
Esra 4:10 und die andern Völker, welche der große und berühmte Asnaphar herübergebracht und gesetzt hat in die Stadt Samaria und in die andern Orte diesseits des Wassers, und so fort.	Ezra 4:10 And the rest of the nations which the great and noble Osnappar took over and put in Samaria and the rest of the country over the river:
Esra 4:11 Und dies ist der Inhalt des Briefes, den sie dem König Arthahsastha sandten: Deine Knechte, die Männer diesseits des Wassers, und so fort.	Ezra 4:11 This is a copy of the letter which they sent to Artaxerxes the king: Your servants living across the river send these words:
Esra 4:12 Es sei kund dem König, daß die Juden, die von dir zu uns heraufgekommen sind gen Jerusalem, in die aufrührerische und böse Stadt, bauen sie und machen ihre Mauern und führen sie aus dem Grunde.	Ezra 4:12 We give news to the king that the Jews who came from you have come to us at Jerusalem; they are building up again that uncontrolled and evil town; the walls are complete and they are joining up the bases.
Esra 4:13 So sei nun dem König kund: Wo diese Stadt gebaut wird und die Mauern wieder gemacht, so werden sie Schoß, Zoll und jährliche Zinse nicht geben, und ihr Vornehmen wird den Königen Schaden bringen.	Ezra 4:13 The king may be certain that when the building of this town and its walls is complete, they will give no tax or payment in goods or forced payments, and in the end it will be a cause of loss to the kings.
Esra 4:14 Nun wir aber das Salz des Königshauses essen und die Schmach des Königs nicht länger wollen sehen, darum schicken wir hin und lassen es den König zu wissen tun,	Ezra 4:14 Now because we are responsible to the king, and it is not right for us to see the king's honour damaged, we have sent to give the king word of these things,
Esra 4:15 daß man lasse suchen in den Chroniken deiner Väter; so wirst du finden in denselben Chroniken und erfahren, daß diese Stadt aufrührerisch und schädlich ist den Königen und Landen und macht, daß andere auch abfallen, von alters her, darum die Stadt auch zerstört ist.	Ezra 4:15 So that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: and you will see in the book of the records that this town has been uncontrolled, and a cause of trouble to kings and countries, and that there were outbursts against authority there in the past: for which reason the town was made waste.
Esra 4:16 Darum tun wir dem König zu wissen, daß, wo diese Stadt gebaut wird und ihre Mauern gemacht, so wirst du vor ihr nichts behalten diesseits des Wassers.	Ezra 4:16 We give you word, that if the building of this town and its walls is made complete, there will be an end of your power in the country across the river.
Esra 4:17 Da sandte der König ein Antwort an Rehum, den Kanzler, und Simsai, den Schreiber, und die andern ihres Rates, die in Samaria wohnten und in den andern Orten jenseits des Wassers: Friede und Gruß!	Ezra 4:17 Then the king sent an answer to Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe, and their friends living in Samaria, and to the rest of those across the river, saying, Peace to you:
Esra 4:18 der Brief, den ihr uns zugeschickt habt, ist deutlich vor mir gelesen.	Ezra 4:18 And now the sense of the letter which you sent to us has been made clear to me,
Esra 4:19 Und ist von mir befohlen, daß man suchen sollte. Und man hat gefunden, daß diese Stadt von alters her wider die Könige sich empört hat und Aufruhr und Abfall darin geschieht.	Ezra 4:19 And I gave orders for a search to be made, and it is certain that in the past this town has made trouble for kings, and that outbursts against authority have taken place there.
Esra 4:20 Auch sind mächtige Könige zu Jerusalem gewesen, die geherrscht haben über alles, was jenseits des Wassers ist, daß ihnen Zoll, Schoß und jährliche Zinse gegeben wurden.	Ezra 4:20 Further, there have been great kings in Jerusalem, ruling over all the country across the river, to whom they gave taxes and payments in goods and forced payments.
Esra 4:21 So tut nun nach diesem Befehl: Wehrt denselben Männern, daß diese Stadt nicht gebaut werde, bis daß von mir der Befehl gegeben werde.	Ezra 4:21 Give an order now, that these men are to do nothing more, and that the building of the town is to be stopped, till I give an order.
Esra 4:22 So seht nun zu, daß ihr nicht lässig hierin seid, damit nicht größerer Schade entstehe dem König!	Ezra 4:22 Be certain to do this with all care: do not let trouble be increased to the king's damage.
Esra 4:23 Da nun der Brief des Königs Arthahsastha gelesen ward vor Rehum und Simsai, dem Schreiber, und ihrem Rat, zogen sie eilend hinauf gen Jerusalem zu den Juden und wehrten ihnen mit Arm und Gewalt.	Ezra 4:23 Then, after reading the king's letter, Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their friends went quickly to Jerusalem, to the Jews, and had them stopped by force.
Esra 4:24 Da hörte auf das Werk am Hause Gottes zu Jerusalem und blieb nach bis ins zweite Jahr des darius, des Königs in Persien.	Ezra 4:24 So the work of the house of God at Jerusalem came to an end; so it was stopped, till the second year of the rule of Darius, king of Persia.
