| Das Los des Stammes der Kinder Juda nach ihren Geschlechtern war an der Grenze Edoms bei der Wüste Zin, mittagwärts, am Ende des Landes gegen Mittag, | Now the part of the land marked out for the children of Judah by families, went up to the edge of Edom, as far as the waste land of Zin to the south, to the farthest point of it on the south. |
| daß ihre Mittagsgrenze war von der Ecke an dem Salzmeer, das ist, von der Zunge, die mittagswärts geht, | Their south limit was from the farthest part of the Salt Sea, from the inlet looking to the south: |
| und geht aus mittagswärts von der Steige Akrabbim und geht durch Zin und geht hinauf im Mittag von Kades-Barnea und geht durch Hezron und geht hinauf gen Adar und lenkt sich um gen Karkaa | From there it goes south of the slope up to Akrabbim, and on to Zin, then south past Kadesh-barnea, and on by Hezron and up to Addar, turning in the direction of Karka: |
| und geht durch Azmon und kommt hinaus an den Bach Ägyptens, daß das Ende der Grenze das Meer wird. Das sei eure Grenze gegen Mittag. | Then on to Azmon, ending at the stream of Egypt: and the end of the limit is at the sea; this will be your limit on the south. |
| Aber die Morgengrenze ist das Salzmeer bis an des Jordans Ende. Die Grenze gegen Mitternacht ist von der Zunge des Meers, die am Ende des Jordans ist, | And the east limit is the Salt Sea as far as the end of Jordan. And the limit of the north part of the land is from the inlet of the sea at the end of Jordan: |
| und geht herauf gen Beth-Hogla und zieht sich mitternachtswärts von Beth-Araba und kommt herauf zum Stein Bohans, des Sohnes Rubens, | Then the line goes up to Beth-hoglah, past the north of Beth-arabah, and up to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben; |
| und geht herauf gen Debir vom Tal Achor und wendet sich mitternachtwärts gen Gilgal, welches liegt gegenüber der Steige Adummim, die mittagwärts vom Wasser liegt; darnach geht sie zu dem Wasser En-Semes und kommt hinaus zum Brunnen Rogel; | Then the line goes up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and so to the north, in the direction of Gilgal, which is opposite the slope up to Adummim, on the south side of the river: and the line goes on to the waters of En-shemesh, ending at En-rogel: |
| darnach geht sie herauf zum Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms an der Mittagseite des Jebusiters, das ist Jerusalem, und kommt herauf an die Spitze des Berges, der vor dem Tal Hinnom liegt abendwärts, welcher stößt an die Ecke des Tals Rephaim gegen Mitternacht zu; | Then the line goes up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the south side of the Jebusite (which is Jerusalem): then up to the top of the mountain in front of the valley of Hinnom to the west, which is at the farthest point of the valley of Rephaim on the north: |
| darnach kommt sie von des Berges Spitze zu dem Wasserbrunnen Nephthoa und kommt heraus zu den Städten des Gebirges Ephron und neigt sich gen Baala, das ist Kirjath-Jearim, | And the limit is marked out from the top of the mountain to the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and out to the towns of Mount Ephron, as far as Baalah (which is Kiriath-jearim): |
| und lenkt sich herum von Baala gegen Abend zum Gebirge Seir und geht an der Mitternachtseite des Gebirges Jearim, das ist Chesalon, und kommt herab gen Beth-Semes und geht durch Thimna | Then turning west, the line goes from Baalah to Mount Seir, and on to the side of Mount Jearim (which is Chesalon) on the north, then down to Beth-shemesh, and on past Timnah: |
| und bricht heraus an der Seite Ekrons her mitternachtwärts und zieht sich gen Sichron und geht über den Berg Baala und kommt heraus gen Jabneel, daß ihr Ende ist das Meer. | And out to the side of Ekron to the north: then it is marked out to Shikkeron and on to Mount Baalah, ending at Jabneel; the end of the line is at the sea. |
| Die Grenze aber gegen Abend ist das große Meer. Das ist die Grenze der Kinder Juda umher nach ihren Geschlechtern. | And the limit on the west is the edge of the Great Sea. This is the line going round the land marked out for the children of Judah, by their families. |
| Kaleb aber, dem Sohn Jephunnes, ward sein Teil gegeben unter den Kindern Juda, wie der HERR dem Josua befahl, nämlich die Stadt des Arba, des Vaters Enaks, das ist Hebron. | And to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he gave a part among the children of Judah, as the Lord had given orders to Joshua, that is, Kiriath-arba, named after Arba, the father of Anak which is Hebron. |
| Und Kaleb vertrieb von da die drei Söhne Enaks: Sesai, Ahiman und Thalmai, geboren von Enak, | And the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the children of Anak, were forced out from there by Caleb. |
| und zog von dort hinauf zu den Einwohnern Debirs. Debir aber hieß vorzeiten Kirjath-Sepher. | From there he went up against the people of Debir: (now the name of Debir before that was Kiriath-sepher.) |
| Und Kaleb sprach: Wer Kirjath-Sepher schlägt und gewinnt, dem will ich meine Tochter Achsa zum Weibe geben. | And Caleb said, I will give Achsah, my daughter, as wife to the man who overcomes Kiriath-sepher and takes it. |
| Da gewann es Othniel, der Sohn des Kenas, der Bruder Kalebs; und er gab ihm seine Tochter Achsa zum Weibe. | And Othniel, the son of Kenaz, Caleb's brother, took it: so he gave him his daughter Achsah for his wife. |
| Und es begab sich, da sie einzog, beredete sie ihn, einen Acker zu fordern von ihrem Vater. Und sie stieg vom Esel; da sprach Kaleb zu ihr: Was ist dir? | Now when she came to him, he put into her mind the idea of requesting a field from her father: and she got down from her ass; and Caleb said to her, What is it? |
| Sie sprach: Gib mir einen Segen! Denn du hast mir ein Mittagsland gegeben; gib mir auch Wasserquellen! Da gab er ihr die Quellen von oben und unten. | And she said, Give me a blessing; because you have put me in dry south-land, now give me springs of water. So he gave her the higher spring and the lower spring. |
| Dies ist das Erbteil des Stammes der Kinder Juda nach ihren Geschlechtern. | This is the heritage of the tribe of Judah, by their families. |
| Und die Städte des Stammes der Kinder Juda von einer Ecke zu der andern, an der Grenze der Edomiter gegen Mittag, waren diese: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur, | The farthest towns of the tribe of Judah in the direction of the limits of Edom to the south, were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur; |
| Kina, Dimona, Ad-Ada, | And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah; |
| Kedes, Hazor, Ithnan, | And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan; |
| Siph, Telem, Bealoth, | Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth; |
| Hazor-Hadatta, Karioth-Hezron, das ist Hazor, | And Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-hezron (which is Hazor); |
| Amam, Sema, Molada, | Amam, and Shema, and Moladah; |
| Hazar-Gadda, Hesmon, Beth-Pelet, | And Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-pelet; |
| Hazar-Sual, Beer-Seba, Bisjothja, | And Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Biziothiah; |
| Baala, Ijim, Ezem, | Baalah, and Iim, and Ezem; |
| Eltholad, Chesil, Horma, | And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah; |
| Ziklag, Madmanna, Sansanna, | And Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah; |
| Lebaoth, Silhim, Ain, Rimmon. Das sind neunundzwanzig Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon; all the towns are twenty-nine, with their unwalled places. |
| In den Gründen aber war Esthaol, Zora, Asna, | In the lowland, Eshtaol, and Zorah, and Ashnah; |
| Sanoah, En-Gannim, Tappuah, Enam, | And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam; |
| Jarmuth, Adullam, Socho, Aseka, | Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah; |
| Saaraim, Adithaim, Gedera, Gederothaim. Das sind vierzehn Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen towns with their unwalled places. |
| Zenan, Hadasa, Migdal-Gad, | Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad; |
| Dilean, Mizpe, Joktheel, | And Dilan, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel; |
| Lachis, Bozkath, Eglon, | Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon; |
| Chabbon, Lahmas, Kithlis, | And Cabbon, and Lahmas, and Chithlish; |
| Gederoth, Beth-Dagon, Naema, Makkeda. Das sind sechzehn Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen towns with their unwalled places. |
| Libna, Ether, Asan, | Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan; |
| Jephthah, Asna, Nezib, | And Iphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib; |
| Kegila, Achsib, Maresa. Das sind neun Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine towns with their unwalled places. |
| Ekron mit seinen Ortschaften und Dörfern. | Ekron, with her daughter-towns and her unwalled places; |
| Von Ekron und ans Meer, alles, was an Asdod und seine Dörfer reicht: | From Ekron to the sea, all the towns by the side of Ashdod, with their unwalled places. |
| Asdod mit seinen Ortschaften und Dörfern, Gaza mit seinen Ortschaften und Dörfern bis an das Wasser Ägyptens; und das große Meer ist seine Grenze. | Ashdod, with her daughter-towns and her unwalled places; Gaza, with her daughter-towns and her unwalled places, to the stream of Egypt, with the Great Sea as a limit. |
| Auf dem Gebirge aber war Samir, Jatthir, Socho, | And in the hill-country, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh; |
| Danna, Kirjath-Sanna, das ist Debir, | And Dannah, and Kiriath-sannah (which is Debir); |
| Anab, Esthemo, Anim, | And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim; |
| Gosen, Holon, Gilo. Das sind elf Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven towns with their unwalled places. |
| Arab, Duma, Esean, | Arab, and Dumah, and Eshan; |
| Janum, Beth-Thappuah, Apheka, | And Janim, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah; |
| Humta, Kirjath-Arba, das ist Hebron, Zior. Das sind neun Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Humtah, and Kiriath-arba (which is Hebron), and Zior; nine towns with their unwalled places. |
| Maon, Karmel, Siph, Jutta, | Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Jutah; |
| Jesreel, Jokdeam, Sanoah, | And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah; |
| Hakain, Gibea, Thimna. Das sind zehn Städte und ihre Dörfer. | Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten towns with their unwalled places. |
| Halhul, Beth-Zur, Gedor, | Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor; |
| Maarath, Beth-Anoth, Elthekon. Das sind sechs Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six towns with their unwalled places. |
| Kirjath-Baal, das ist Kirjath-Jearim, Harabba; zwei Städte und ihre Dörfer. | Kiriath-baal (which is Kiriath-jearim), and Rabbah; two towns with their unwalled places. |
| In der Wüste aber war Beth-Araba, Middin, Sechacha, | In the waste land, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah; |
| Nibsan und die Salzstadt und Engedi. Das sind sechs Städte und ihre Dörfer. | And Nibshan, and the Town of Salt, and En-gedi; six towns with their unwalled places. |
| Die Jebusiter aber wohnten zu Jerusalem, und die Kinder Juda konnten sie nicht vertreiben; also blieben die Jebusiter mit den Kindern Juda zu Jerusalem bis auf diesen Tag. | And as for the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, the children of Judah were unable to make them go out; but the Jebusites are living with the children of Judah at Jerusalem, to this day. |
