| Da traten herzu die obersten Väter unter den Leviten zu dem Priester Eleasar und Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, und zu den obersten Vätern unter den Stämmen der Kinder Israel | Then the heads of the families of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel; |
| und redeten mit ihnen zu Silo im Lande Kanaan und sprachen: Der HERR hat uns geboten durch Mose, daß man uns Städte geben solle, zu wohnen, und ihre Vorstädte zu unserm Vieh. | And said to them in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, The Lord gave orders by Moses that we were to have towns for living in, with their grass-lands for our cattle. |
| Da gaben die Kinder Israel den Leviten von ihren Erbteilen nach dem Befehl des HERRN diese Städte und ihre Vorstädte. | And the children of Israel out of their heritage gave to the Levites these towns with their grass-lands, by the order of the Lord. |
| Und das Los fiel auf die Geschlechter der Kahathiter, und wurden den Kindern Aarons, des Priesters, aus den Leviten durchs Los dreizehn Städte von dem Stamm Juda, von dem Stamm Simeon und von dem Stamm Benjamin. | And the heritage came out for the families of the Kohathites: the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin. |
| Den andern Kindern Kahaths aber wurden durchs Los zehn Städte von den Geschlechtern des Stammes Ephraim, von dem Stamme Dan und von dem halben Stamm Manasse. | The rest of the children of Kohath by their families were given ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan and the half-tribe of Manasseh. |
| Aber den Kindern Gersons wurden durchs Los dreizehn Städte von den Geschlechtern des Stammes Isaschar, von dem Stamm Asser und von dem Stamm Naphthali und von dem halben Stamm Manasse in Basan. | The children of Gershon by their families were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh which was in Bashan. |
| Den Kindern Meraris nach ihren Geschlechtern wurden zwölf Städte von dem Stamm Ruben, von dem Stamm Gad und von dem Stamm Sebulon. | The children of Merari by their families were given twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun. |
| Also gaben die Kinder Israel den Leviten durchs Los diese Städte und Vorstädte, wie der HERR durch Mose geboten hatte. | All these towns with their grass-lands the children of Israel gave by the decision of the Lord to the Levites, as the Lord had given orders by Moses. |
| Von dem Stamm der Kinder Juda und von dem Stamm der Kinder Simeon gaben sie diese Städte, die sie mit ihren Namen nannten, | From the tribes of the children of Judah and the children of Simeon they gave these towns, listed here by name: |
| den Kindern Aarons, vom Geschlecht der Kahathiter, aus den Kindern Levi; denn das erste Los ward ihnen. | These were for the children of Aaron among the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi: for they came first in the distribution. |
| So geben sie ihnen die Stadt des Arba, des Vaters Enaks, das ist Hebron auf dem Gebirge Juda und ihre Vorstädte um sie her. | They gave them Kiriath-arba, the town of Arba, the father of Anak, (which is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah, with its grass-lands. |
| Aber den Acker der Stadt und ihre Dörfer gaben sie Kaleb, dem Sohn Jephunnes, zu seinem Erbe. | But the open country round the town, and its unwalled places, they gave to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, as his property. |
| Also gaben sie den Kindern Aarons, des Priesters, die Freistadt der Totschläger, Hebron, und seine Vorstädte, Libna und sein Vorstädte, | And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its grass-lands, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Libnah with its grass-lands; |
| Jatthir und seine Vorstädte, Esthemoa und sein Vorstädte, | And Jattir with its grass-lands, and Eshtemoa with its grass-lands; |
| Holon und seine Vorstädte, Debir und seine Vorstädte, | And Holon with its grass-lands, and Debir with its grass-lands; |
| Ain und seine Vorstädte, Jutta und seine Vorstädte, Beth-Semes und seine Vorstädte, neun Städte von diesen zwei Stämmen; | And Ain, and Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, with their grass-lands; nine towns from those two tribes. |
| von dem Stamm Benjamin aber gaben sie vier Städte: Gibeon und seine Vorstädte, Geba und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Benjamin they gave Gibeon and Geba with their grass-lands; |
| Anathoth und seine Vorstädte, Almon und seine Vorstädte, | Anathoth and Almon with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| daß alle Städte der Kinder Aarons, der Priester, waren dreizehn mit ihren Vorstädten. | Thirteen towns with their grass-lands were given to the children of Aaron, the priests. |
| Den Geschlechtern aber der andern Kinder Kahath, den Leviten, wurden durch ihr Los vier Städte von dem Stamm Ephraim; | The rest of the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, were given towns from the tribe of Ephraim. |
| sie gaben ihnen die Freistadt der Totschläger, Sichem und seine Vorstädte auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, Geser und seine Vorstädte, | And they gave them Shechem with its grass-lands in the hill-country of Ephraim, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Gezer with its grass-lands; |
| Kibzaim und seine Vorstädte, Beth-Horon und seine Vorstädte. | And Kibzaim and Beth-horon with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| Von dem Stamme Dan vier Städte: Eltheke und seine Vorstädte, Gibbethon und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Dan, Elteke and Gibbethon with their grass-lands; |
| Ajalon und seine Vorstädte, Gath-Rimmon und seine Vorstädte. | Aijalon and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| Von dem halben Stamm Manasse zwei Städte: Thaanach und seine Vorstädte, Gath-Rimmon und seine Vorstädte, | And from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, two towns. |
| daß alle Städte der Geschlechter der andern Kinder Kahath waren zehn mit ihren Vorstädten. | All the towns of the rest of the families of the children of Kohath were ten with their grass-lands. |
| Den Kindern aber Gerson aus den Geschlechtern der Leviten wurden gegeben von dem halben Stamm Manasse zwei Städte: die Freistadt für die Totschläger, Golan in Basan, und sein Vorstädte, Beesthra und seine Vorstädte. | And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, they gave from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with its grass-lands, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Ashtaroth with its grass-lands, two towns. |
| Von dem Stamme Isaschar vier Städte: Kisjon und seine Vorstädte, Dabrath und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion and Daberath with their grass-lands; |

| Von dem Stamm Asser vier Städte: Miseal und seine Vorstädte, Abdon und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Asher, Mishal and Abdon, with their grass-lands: |
| Helkath und seine Vorstädte, Rehob und seine Vorstädte. | Helkath and Rehob with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| Von dem Stamm Naphthali drei Städte: die Freistadt für die Totschläger, Kedes in Galiläa, und seine Vorstädte, Hammoth-Dor und seine Vorstädte, Karthan und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its grass-lands, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Hammoth-dor and Kartan with their grass-lands, three towns. |
| daß alle Städte des Geschlechts der Gersoniter waren dreizehn mit ihren Vorstädten. | All the towns of the Gershonites with their families were thirteen with their grass-lands. |
| Den Geschlechtern aber der Kinder Merari, den andern Leviten, wurden gegeben von dem Stamm Sebulon vier Städte: Jokneam und seine Vorstädte, Kartha und seine Vorstädte, | And to the rest of the Levites, that is, the families of the children of Merari, they gave from the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam and Kartah with their grass-lands; |
| Dimna und seine Vorstädte, Nahalal und seine Vorstädte. | Dimnah and Nahalal with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| Von dem Stamm Ruben vier Städte: Bezer und seine Vorstädte, Jahza und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and Jahaz with their grass-lands; |
| Kedemoth und seine Vorstädte, Mephaath und seine Vorstädte. | Kedemoth and Mephaath with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| Von dem Stamme Gad vier Städte: die Freistadt für die Totschläger, Ramoth in Gilead, und seine Vorstädte, | And from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Mahanaim with their grass-lands; |
| Mahanaim und seine Vorstädte, Hesbon und seine Vorstädte, Jaser und seine Vorstädte, | Heshbon and Jazer with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| daß alle Städte der Kinder Merari nach ihren Geschlechtern, der andern Leviten, nach ihrem Los waren zwölf. | All these towns were given to the children of Merari by their families, that is, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their heritage was twelve towns. |
| Alle Städte der Leviten unter dem Erbe der Kinder Israel waren achtundvierzig mit ihren Vorstädten. | All the towns of the Levites, among the heritage of the children of Israel, were forty-eight towns with their grass-lands. |
| Und eine jegliche dieser Städte hatte ihre Vorstadt um sich her, eine wie die andere. | Every one of these towns had grass-lands round it. |
| Also gab der HERR Israel alles Land, das er geschworen hatte ihren Vätern zu geben, und sie nahmen es ein und wohnten darin. | So the Lord gave to Israel all the land which he gave by oath to their fathers; so it became their heritage and their living-place. |
| Und der HERR gab ihnen Ruhe von allen umher, wie er ihren Vätern geschworen hatte, und stand ihrer Feinde keiner wider sie, sondern alle ihre Feinde gab er in ihre Hände. | And the Lord gave them peace on every side, as he had said to their fathers: all those who were against them gave way before them, for the Lord gave them all up into their hands. |
| Und es fehlte nichts an allem Guten, das der HERR dem Hause Israel verheißen hatte. Es kam alles. | The Lord kept faith with the house of Israel about all the good which he said he would do for them, and all his words came true. |
