Psalmen 49:1 (Ein Psalm der Kinder Korah, vorzusingen.) Höret zu, alle Völker; merket auf, alle, die in dieser Zeit leben,	Psalms 49:1 Alamoth. To the chief music-maker. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.Give attention to this, all you peoples; let your ears be open, all you who are living in the world.
Psalmen 49:2 beide, gemeiner Mann und Herren, beide, reich und arm, miteinander!	Psalms 49:2 High and low together, the poor, and those who have wealth.
Psalmen 49:3 Mein Mund soll von Weisheit reden und mein Herz von Verstand sagen.	Psalms 49:3 From my mouth will come words of wisdom; and in the thoughts of my heart will be knowledge.
Psalmen 49:4 Ich will einem Spruch mein Ohr neigen und kundtun mein Rätsel beim Klange der Harfe.	Psalms 49:4 I will put my teaching into a story; I will make my dark sayings clear with music.
Psalmen 49:5 Warum sollte ich mich fürchten in bösen Tagen, wenn mich die Missetat meiner Untertreter umgibt,	Psalms 49:5 What cause have I for fear in the days of evil, when the evil-doing of those who are working for my downfall is round about me?
Psalmen 49:6 die sich verlassen auf ihr Gut und trotzen auf ihren großen Reichtum?	Psalms 49:6 Even of those whose faith is in their wealth, and whose hearts are lifted up because of their stores.
Psalmen 49:7 Kann doch einen Bruder niemand erlösen noch ihn Gott versöhnen	Psalms 49:7 Truly, no man may get back his soul for a price, or give to God the payment for himself;
Psalmen 49:8 (denn es kostet zuviel, eine Seele zu erlösen; man muß es anstehen lassen ewiglich),	Psalms 49:8 (Because it takes a great price to keep his soul from death, and man is not able to give it.)
Psalmen 49:9 daß er fortlebe immerdar und die Grube nicht sehe.	Psalms 49:9 So that he might have eternal life, and never see the underworld.
Psalmen 49:10 Denn man wird sehen, daß die Weisen sterben sowohl als die Toren und Narren umkommen und müssen ihr Gut andern lassen.	Psalms 49:10 For he sees that wise men come to their end, and foolish persons of low behaviour come to destruction together, letting their wealth go to others.
Psalmen 49:11 Das ist ihr Herz, daß ihre Häuser währen immerdar, ihre Wohnungen bleiben für und für; und haben große Ehre auf Erden.	Psalms 49:11 The place of the dead is their house for ever, and their resting-place through all generations; those who come after them give their names to their lands.
Psalmen 49:12 Dennoch kann ein Mensch nicht bleiben in solchem Ansehen, sondern muß davon wie ein Vieh.	Psalms 49:12 But man, like the animals, does not go on for ever; he comes to an end like the beasts.
Psalmen 49:13 Dies ihr Tun ist eitel Torheit; doch loben's ihre Nachkommen mit ihrem Munde.	Psalms 49:13 This is the way of the foolish; their silver is for those who come after them, and their children get the pleasure of their gold. (Selah.)
Psalmen 49:14 Sie liegen in der Hölle wie Schafe, der Tod weidet sie; aber die Frommen werden gar bald über sie herrschen, und ihr Trotz muß vergehen; in der Hölle müssen sie bleiben.	Psalms 49:14 Death will give them their food like sheep; the underworld is their fate and they will go down into it; their flesh is food for worms; their form is wasted away; the underworld is their resting-place for ever.
Psalmen 49:15 Aber Gott wird meine Seele erlösen aus der Hölle Gewalt; denn er hat mich angenommen.	Psalms 49:15 But God will get back my soul; for he will take me from the power of death. (Selah.)
Psalmen 49:16 Laß dich's nicht irren, ob einer reich wird, ob die Herrlichkeit seines Hauses groß wird.	Psalms 49:16 Have no fear when wealth comes to a man, and the glory of his house is increased;
Psalmen 49:17 Denn er wird nichts in seinem Sterben mitnehmen, und seine Herrlichkeit wird ihm nicht nachfahren.	Psalms 49:17 For at his death, he will take nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.
Psalmen 49:18 Er tröstet sich wohl dieses guten Lebens, und man preiset's, wenn einer sich gütlich tut;	Psalms 49:18 Though he might have pride in his soul in his life-time, and men will give you praise if you do well for yourself,
Psalmen 49:19 aber doch fahren sie ihren Vätern nach und sehen das Licht nimmermehr.	Psalms 49:19 He will go to the generation of his fathers; he will not see the light again.
Psalmen 49:20 Kurz, wenn ein Mensch in Ansehen ist und hat keinen Verstand, so fährt er davon wie ein Vieh.	Psalms 49:20 Man, like the animals, does not go on for ever; he comes to an end like the beasts.
