Psalms 14

To the chief music-maker. Of David. The foolish man has said in his heart, God will not do anything. They are unclean, they have done evil works; there is not one who does good. | For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works; There is none that doeth good. |
The Lord was looking down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who had wisdom, searching after God. | Jehovah looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, That did seek after God. |
They have all gone out of the way together; they are unclean, there is not one who does good, no, not one. | They are all gone aside; they are together become filthy; There is none that doeth good, no, not one. |
Have all the workers of evil no knowledge? they take my people for food as they would take bread; they make no prayer to the Lord. | Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people [as] they eat bread, And call not upon Jehovah? |
Then were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the upright. | There were they in great fear; For God is in the generation of the righteous. |
You have put to shame the thoughts of the poor, but the Lord is his support. | Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor, Because Jehovah is his refuge. |
May the salvation of Israel come out of Zion! when the fate of his people is changed by the Lord, Jacob will have joy and Israel will be glad. | Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, [and] Israel shall be glad. |
