Psalms 33
|
Be glad in the Lord, O doers of righteousness; for praise is beautiful for the upright. | Rejoice in Jehovah, O ye righteous: Praise is comely for the upright. |
Give praise to the Lord on the corded instrument; make melody to him with instruments of music. | Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp: Sing praises unto him with the psaltery of ten strings. |
Make a new song to him; playing expertly with a loud noise. | Sing unto him a new song; Play skilfully with a loud noise. |
For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his works are certain. | For the word of Jehovah is right; And all his work is [done] in faithfulness. |
His delight is in righteousness and wisdom; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord. | He loveth righteousness and justice: The earth is full of the lovingkindness of Jehovah. |
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the army of heaven by the breath of his mouth. | By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made, And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. |
He makes the waters of the sea come together in a mass; he keeps the deep seas in store-houses. | He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap: He layeth up the deeps in store-houses. |
Let the earth be full of the fear of the Lord; let all the people of the world be in holy fear of him. | Let all the earth fear Jehovah: Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. |
For he gave the word, and it was done; by his order it was fixed for ever. | For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. |
The Lord undoes the designs of the nations; he makes the thoughts of the peoples without effect. | Jehovah bringeth the counsel of the nations to nought; He maketh the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect. |
The Lord's purpose is eternal, the designs of his heart go on through all the generations of man. | The counsel of Jehovah standeth fast for ever, The thoughts of his heart to all generations. |
Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he has taken for his heritage. | Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, The people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. |
The Lord is looking down from heaven; he sees all the sons of men; | Jehovah looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men; |
From his house he keeps watch on all who are living on the earth; | From the place of his habitation he looketh forth Upon all the inhabitants of the earth, |
He makes all their hearts; their works are clear to him. | He that fashioneth the hearts of them all, That considereth all their works. |
A king's salvation is not in the power of his army; a strong man does not get free by his great strength. | There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. |
A horse is a false hope; his great power will not make any man free from danger. | A horse is a vain thing for safety; Neither doth he deliver any by his great power. |
See, the eye of the Lord is on those in whose hearts is the fear of him, on those whose hope is in his mercy; | Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, Upon them that hope in his lovingkindness; |
To keep their souls from death; and to keep them living in time of need. | To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine. |
Our souls are waiting for the Lord; he is our help and our salvation. | Our soul hath waited for Jehovah: He is our help and our shield. |
For in him our hearts have joy; in his holy name is our hope. | For our heart shall rejoice in him, Because we have trusted in his holy name. |
Let your mercy be on us, O Lord, as we are waiting for you. | Let thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, According as we have hoped in thee. |
