To the chief music-maker on the Gittith. A Psalm. Of David.O Lord, our Lord, whose glory is higher than the heavens, how noble is your name in all the earth! | For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens! |
You have made clear your strength even out of the mouths of babies at the breast, because of those who are against you; so that you may put to shame the cruel and violent man. | Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou established strength, Because of thine adversaries, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. |
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have put in their places; | When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; |
What is man, that you keep him in mind? the son of man, that you take him into account? | What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? |
For you have made him only a little lower than the gods, crowning him with glory and honour. | For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor. |
You have made him ruler over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet; | Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: |
All sheep and oxen, and all the beasts of the field; | All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field, |
The birds of the air and the fish of the sea, and whatever goes through the deep waters of the seas. | The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. |
O Lord, our Lord, how noble is your name in all the earth! | O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth! |
