| Then the heads of the families of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel; | Les chefs de famille des Lévites s`approchèrent du sacrificateur Éléazar, de Josué, fils de Nun, et des chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d`Israël. |
| And said to them in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, The Lord gave orders by Moses that we were to have towns for living in, with their grass-lands for our cattle. | Ils leur parlèrent à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, et dirent: L`Éternel a ordonné par Moïse qu`on nous donnât des villes pour habitation, et leurs banlieues pour notre bétail. |
| And the children of Israel out of their heritage gave to the Levites these towns with their grass-lands, by the order of the Lord. | Les enfants d`Israël donnèrent alors aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, les villes suivantes et leurs banlieues, d`après l`ordre de l`Éternel. |
| And the heritage came out for the families of the Kohathites: the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin. | On tira le sort pour les familles des Kehathites; et les Lévites, fils du sacrificateur Aaron, eurent par le sort treize villes de la tribu de Juda, de la tribu de Siméon et de la tribu de Benjamin; |
| The rest of the children of Kohath by their families were given ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan and the half-tribe of Manasseh. | les autres fils de Kehath eurent par le sort dix villes des familles de la tribu d`Éphraïm, de la tribu de Dan et de la demi-tribu de Manassé. |
| The children of Gershon by their families were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh which was in Bashan. | Les fils de Guerschon eurent par le sort treize villes des familles de la tribu d`Issacar, de la tribu d`Aser, de la tribu de Nephthali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Basan. |
| The children of Merari by their families were given twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun. | Les fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, eurent douze villes de la tribu de Ruben, de la tribu de Gad et de la tribu de Zabulon. |
| All these towns with their grass-lands the children of Israel gave by the decision of the Lord to the Levites, as the Lord had given orders by Moses. | Les enfants d`Israël donnèrent aux Lévites, par le sort, ces villes et leurs banlieues, comme l`Éternel l`avait ordonné par Moïse. |
| From the tribes of the children of Judah and the children of Simeon they gave these towns, listed here by name: | Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes qui vont être nominativement désignées, |
| These were for the children of Aaron among the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi: for they came first in the distribution. | et qui furent pour les fils d`Aaron d`entre les familles des Kehathites et des fils de Lévi, car le sort les avait indiqués les premiers. |
| They gave them Kiriath-arba, the town of Arba, the father of Anak, (which is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah, with its grass-lands. | Ils leur donnèrent Kirjath Arba, qui est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda, et la banlieue qui l`entoure: Arba était le père d`Anak. |

| And from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, two towns. | et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Thaanac et sa banlieue, et Gath Rimmon et sa banlieue, deux villes. |
| All the towns of the rest of the families of the children of Kohath were ten with their grass-lands. | Total des villes: dix, et leurs banlieues, pour les familles des autres fils de Kehath. |

| And from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its grass-lands, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Hammoth-dor and Kartan with their grass-lands, three towns. | et de la tribu de Nephthali, la ville de refuge pour les meurtriers, Kédesch en Galilée et sa banlieue, Hammoth Dor et sa banlieue, et Karthan et sa banlieue, trois villes. |

| Kedemoth and Mephaath with their grass-lands, four towns. | Kedémoth et sa banlieue, et Méphaath et sa banlieue, quatre villes; |
| And from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Mahanaim with their grass-lands; | et de la tribu de Gad, la ville de refuge pour les meurtriers, Ramoth en Galaad et sa banlieue, Mahanaïm et sa banlieue, |
| Heshbon and Jazer with their grass-lands, four towns. | Hesbon et sa banlieue, et Jaezer et sa banlieue, en tout quatre villes. |
| All these towns were given to the children of Merari by their families, that is, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their heritage was twelve towns. | Total des villes qui échurent par le sort aux fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, formant le reste des familles des Lévites: douze villes. |
| All the towns of the Levites, among the heritage of the children of Israel, were forty-eight towns with their grass-lands. | Total des villes des Lévites au milieu des propriétés des enfants d`Israël: quarante-huit villes, et leurs banlieues. |
| Every one of these towns had grass-lands round it. | Chacune de ces villes avait sa banlieue qui l`entourait; il en était de même pour toutes ces villes. |
| So the Lord gave to Israel all the land which he gave by oath to their fathers; so it became their heritage and their living-place. | C`est ainsi que l`Éternel donna à Israël tout le pays qu`il avait juré de donner à leurs pères; ils en prirent possession et s`y établirent. |
| And the Lord gave them peace on every side, as he had said to their fathers: all those who were against them gave way before them, for the Lord gave them all up into their hands. | L`Éternel leur accorda du repos tout alentour, comme il l`avait juré à leurs pères; aucun de leurs ennemis ne put leur résister, et l`Éternel les livra tous entre leurs mains. |
| The Lord kept faith with the house of Israel about all the good which he said he would do for them, and all his words came true. | De toutes les bonnes paroles que l`Éternel avait dites à la maison d`Israël, aucune ne resta sans effet: toutes s`accomplirent. |
