| Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, | Voici les sacrificateurs et les Lévites qui revinrent avec Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, et avec Josué: Seraja, Jérémie, Esdras, |

| Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah, | Iddo, Guinnethoï, Abija, |
| Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah, | Mijamin, Maadia, Bilga, |
| Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah, | Schemaeja, Jojarib, Jedaeja, |
| Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers in the days of Jeshua. | Sallu, Amok, Hilkija, Jedaeja. Ce furent là les chefs des sacrificateurs et de leurs frères, au temps de Josué. - |
| And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who was over the music-makers, he and his brothers. | Lévites: Josué, Binnuï, Kadmiel, Schérébia, Juda, Matthania, qui dirigeait avec ses frères le chant des louanges; |
| And Bakbukiah and Unno, their brothers, were opposite them in their watches. | Bakbukia et Unni, qui remplissaient leurs fonctions auprès de leurs frères. |
| And Jeshua was the father of Joiakim, and Joiakim was the father of Eliashib, and Eliashib was the father of Joiada, | Josué engendra Jojakim, Jojakim engendra Éliaschib, Éliaschib engendra Jojada, |
| And Joiada was the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan was the father of Jaddua. | Jojada engendra Jonathan, et Jonathan engendra Jaddua. |
| And in the days of Joiakim there were priests, heads of families: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah; | Voici, au temps de Jojakim, quels étaient les sacrificateurs, chefs de famille: pour Seraja, Meraja; pour Jérémie, Hanania; |
| Of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan; | pour Esdras, Meschullam; pour Amaria, Jochanan; |
| Of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph; | pour Meluki, Jonathan; pour Schebania, Joseph; |
| Of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai; | pour Harim, Adna; pour Merajoth, Helkaï; |

| The Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were listed as heads of families; and the priests, when Darius the Persian was king. | Au temps d`Éliaschib, de Jojada, de Jochanan et de Jaddua, les Lévites, chefs de familles, et les sacrificateurs, furent inscrits, sous le règne de Darius, le Perse. |
| The sons of Levi, heads of families, were recorded in the book of the histories, even till the days of Johanan, the son of Eliashib. | Les fils de Lévi, chefs de familles, furent inscrits dans le livre des Chroniques jusqu`au temps de Jochanan, fils d`Éliaschib. |
| And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua, the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers opposite them, to give blessing and praise as ordered by David, the man of God, watch against watch. | Les chefs des Lévites, Haschabia, Schérébia, et Josué, fils de Kadmiel, et leurs frères avec eux, les uns vis-à-vis des autres, étaient chargés de célébrer et de louer l`Éternel, selon l`ordre de David, homme de Dieu. |
| Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were door-keepers keeping the watch at the store-houses of the doors. | Matthania, Bakbukia, Abdias, Meschullam, Thalmon et Akkub, portiers, faisaient la garde aux seuils des portes. |
| These were in the days of Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the ruler and of Ezra the priest, the scribe. | Ils vivaient au temps de Jojakim, fils de Josué, fils de Jotsadak, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et d`Esdras, le sacrificateur et le scribe. |
| And when the time came for the wall of Jerusalem to be made holy, they sent for the Levites out of all their places to come to Jerusalem, to keep the feast with joy, and with praise and melody, with brass and corded instruments of music. | Lors de la dédicace des murailles de Jérusalem, on appela les Lévites de tous les lieux qu`ils habitaient et on les fit venir à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la dédicace et la fête par des louanges et par des chants, au son des cymbales, des luths et des harpes. |
| And the sons of the music-makers came together from the lowland round about Jerusalem and from the daughter-towns of the Netophathites, | Les fils des chantres se rassemblèrent des environs de Jérusalem, des villages des Nethophatiens, |
| And from Beth-gilgal and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the music-makers had made daughter-towns for themselves round about Jerusalem. | de Beth Guilgal, et du territoire de Guéba et d`Azmaveth; car les chantres s`étaient bâti des villages aux alentours de Jérusalem. |
| And the priests and the Levites made themselves clean; and they made the people clean, and the doorways and the wall. | Les sacrificateurs et les Lévites se purifièrent, et ils purifièrent le peuple, les portes et la muraille. |
| Then I made the rulers of Judah come up on the wall, and I put in position two great bands of them who gave praise, walking in ordered lines; one went to the right on the wall, in the direction of the doorway where the waste was put; | Je fis monter sur la muraille les chefs de Juda, et je formai deux grands choeurs. Le premier se mit en marche du côté droit sur la muraille, vers la porte du fumier. |
| And after them went Hoshaiah and half of the rulers of Judah, | Derrière ce choeur marchaient Hosée et la moitié des chefs de Juda, |
| And Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam, | Azaria, Esdras, Meschullam, |
| Judah and Benjamin and Shemaiah and Jeremiah, | Juda, Benjamin, Schemaeja et Jérémie, |
| And certain of the priests' sons with wind instruments; Zechariah, the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph, | des fils de sacrificateurs avec des trompettes, Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Schemaeja, fils de Matthania, fils de Michée, fils de Zaccur, fils d`Asaph, |
| And his brothers, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel and Judah, Hanani, with the music-instruments of David, the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was at their head; | et ses frères, Schemaeja, Azareel, Milalaï, Guilalaï, Maaï, Nethaneel, Juda et Hanani, avec les instruments de musique de David, homme de Dieu. Esdras, le scribe, était à leur tête. |
| And by the doorway of the fountain and straight in front of them, they went up by the steps of the town of David, at the slope up of the wall, over the house of David, as far as the water-doorway to the east. | A la porte de la source, ils montèrent vis-à-vis d`eux les degrés de la cité de David par la montée de la muraille, au-dessus de la maison de David, jusqu`à la porte des eaux, vers l`orient. |
| And the other band of those who gave praise went to the left, and I went after them with half the people, on the wall, over the tower of the ovens, as far as the wide wall; | Le second choeur se mit en marche à l`opposite. J`étais derrière lui avec l`autre moitié du peuple, sur la muraille. Passant au-dessus de la tour des fours, on alla jusqu`à la muraille large; |
| And over the doorway of Ephraim and by the old door and the fish door and the tower of Hananel and the tower of Hammeah, as far as the sheep door: and at the doorway of the watchmen they came to a stop. | puis au-dessus de la porte d`Éphraïm, de la vieille porte, de la porte des poissons, de la tour de Hananeel et de la tour de Méa, jusqu`à la porte des brebis. Et l`on s`arrêta à la porte de la prison. |
| So the two bands of those who gave praise took up their positions in the house of God, and I and half of the chiefs with me: | Les deux choeurs s`arrêtèrent dans la maison de Dieu; et nous fîmes de même, moi et les magistrats qui étaient avec moi, |
| And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with wind instruments; | et les sacrificateurs Éliakim, Maaséja, Minjamin, Michée, Eljoénaï, Zacharie, Hanania, avec des trompettes, |
| And Maaseiah and Shemaiah and Eleazar and Uzzi and Jehohanan and Malchijah and Elam and Ezer. And the makers of melody made their voices loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer. | et Maaséja, Schemaeja, Éléazar, Uzzi, Jochanan, Malkija, Élam et Ézer. Les chantres se firent entendre, dirigés par Jizrachja. |
| And on that day they made great offerings and were glad; for God had made them glad with great joy; and the women and the children were glad with them: so that the joy of Jerusalem came to the ears of those who were far off. | On offrit ce jour-là de nombreux sacrifices, et on se livra aux réjouissances, car Dieu avait donné au peuple un grand sujet de joie. Les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent aussi, et les cris de joie de Jérusalem furent entendus au loin. |
| And on that day certain men were put over the rooms where the things which had been given were stored, for the lifted offerings and the first-fruits and the tenths, and to take into them the amounts, from the fields of every town, fixed by the law for the priests and the Levites: for Judah was glad on account of the priests and the Levites who were in their places. | En ce jour, on établit des hommes ayant la surveillance des chambres qui servaient de magasins pour les offrandes, les prémices et les dîmes, et on les chargea d`y recueillir du territoire des villes les portions assignées par la loi aux sacrificateurs et aux Lévites. Car Juda se réjouissait de ce que les sacrificateurs et les Lévites étaient à leur poste, |
| And they kept the watch of their God, and were responsible for making things clean, and so did the music-makers and the door-keepers, as it was ordered by David and Solomon his son. | observant tout ce qui concernait le service de Dieu et des purifications. Les chantres et les portiers remplissaient aussi leurs fonctions, selon l`ordre de David et de Salomon, son fils; |
| For in the days of David and Asaph in the past, there was a master of the music, and songs of blessing and praise to God. | car autrefois, du temps de David et d`Asaph, il y avait des chefs de chantres et des chants de louanges et d`actions de grâces en l`honneur de Dieu. |
| And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave what was needed by the music-makers and the door-keepers day by day: and they made the offerings holy for the Levites; and the Levites did the same for the sons of Aaron. | Tout Israël, au temps de Zorobabel et de Néhémie, donna les portions des chantres et des portiers, jour par jour; on donna aux Lévites les choses consacrées, et les Lévites donnèrent aux fils d`Aaron les choses consacrées. |
