Isaiah 40:1 Give comfort, give comfort, to my people, says your God.	Esaïe 40:1 Consolez, consolez mon peuple, Dit votre Dieu.
Isaiah 40:2 Say kind words to the heart of Jerusalem, crying out to her that her time of trouble is ended, that her punishment is complete; that she has been rewarded by the Lord's hand twice over for all her sins.	Esaïe 40:2 Parlez au coeur de Jérusalem, et criez lui Que sa servitude est finie, Que son iniquité est expiée, Qu`elle a reçu de la main de l`Éternel Au double de tous ses péchés.
Isaiah 40:3 A voice of one crying, Make ready in the waste land the way of the Lord, make level in the lowland a highway for our God.	Esaïe 40:3 Une voix crie: Préparez au désert le chemin de l`Éternel, Aplanissez dans les lieux arides Une route pour notre Dieu.
Isaiah 40:4 Let every valley be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low, and let the rough places become level, and the hilltops become a valley,	Esaïe 40:4 Que toute vallée soit exhaussée, Que toute montagne et toute colline soient abaissées! Que les coteaux se changent en plaines, Et les défilés étroits en vallons!
Isaiah 40:5 And the glory of the Lord will be made clear, and all flesh will see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has said it.	Esaïe 40:5 Alors la gloire de l`Éternel sera révélée, Et au même instant toute chair la verra; Car la bouche de l`Éternel a parlé.
Isaiah 40:6 A voice of one saying, Give a cry! And I said, What is my cry to be? All flesh is grass, and all its strength like the flower of the field.	Esaïe 40:6 Une voix dit: Crie! -Et il répond: Que crierai-je? Toute chair est comme l`herbe, Et tout son éclat comme la fleur des champs.
Isaiah 40:7 The grass becomes dry, the flower is dead; because the breath of the Lord goes over it: truly the people is grass.	Esaïe 40:7 L`herbe sèche, la fleur tombe, Quand le vent de l`Éternel souffle dessus. -Certainement le peuple est comme l`herbe:
Isaiah 40:8 The grass is dry, the flower is dead; but the word of our God is eternal.	Esaïe 40:8 L`herbe sèche, la fleur tombe; Mais la parole de notre Dieu subsiste éternellement.
Isaiah 40:9 You who give good news to Zion, get up into the high mountain; you who give good news to Jerusalem, let your voice be strong; let it be sounding without fear; say to the towns of Judah, See, your God!	Esaïe 40:9 Monte sur une haute montagne, Sion, pour publier la bonne nouvelle; Élève avec force ta voix, Jérusalem, pour publier la bonne nouvelle; Élève ta voix, ne crains point, Dis aux villes de Juda: Voici votre Dieu!
Isaiah 40:10 See, the Lord God will come as a strong one, ruling in power: see, those made free by him are with him, and those whom he has made safe go before him.	Esaïe 40:10 Voici, le Seigneur, l`Éternel vient avec puissance, Et de son bras il commande; Voici, le salaire est avec lui, Et les rétributions le précèdent.
Isaiah 40:11 He will give food to his flock like a keeper of sheep; with his arm he will get it together, and will take up the lambs on his breast, gently guiding those which are with young.	Esaïe 40:11 Comme un berger, il paîtra son troupeau, Il prendra les agneaux dans ses bras, Et les portera dans son sein; Il conduira les brebis qui allaitent.
Isaiah 40:12 In the hollow of whose hand have the waters been measured? and who is able to take the heavens in his stretched-out fingers? who has got together the dust of the earth in a measure? who has taken the weight of the mountains, or put the hills into the scales?	Esaïe 40:12 Qui a mesuré les eaux dans le creux de sa main, Pris les dimensions des cieux avec la paume, Et ramassé la poussière de la terre dans un tiers de mesure? Qui a pesé les montagnes au crochet, Et les collines à la balance?
Isaiah 40:13 By whom has the spirit of the Lord been guided, or who has been his teacher?	Esaïe 40:13 Qui a sondé l`esprit de l`Éternel, Et qui l`a éclairé de ses conseils?
Isaiah 40:14 Who gave him suggestions, and made clear to him the right way? who gave him knowledge, guiding him in the way of wisdom?	Esaïe 40:14 Avec qui a-t-il délibéré pour en recevoir de l`instruction? Qui lui a appris le sentier de la justice? Qui lui a enseigné la sagesse, Et fait connaître le chemin de l`intelligence?
Isaiah 40:15 See, the nations are to him like a drop hanging from a bucket, and like the small dust in the scales: he takes up the islands like small dust.	Esaïe 40:15 Voici, les nations sont comme une goutte d`un seau, Elles sont comme de la poussière sur une balance; Voici, les îles sont comme une fine poussière qui s`envole.
Isaiah 40:16 And Lebanon is not enough to make a fire with, or all its cattle enough for a burned offering.	Esaïe 40:16 Le Liban ne suffit pas pour le feu, Et ses animaux ne suffisent pas pour l`holocauste.
Isaiah 40:17 All the nations are as nothing before him; even less than nothing, a thing of no value.	Esaïe 40:17 Toutes les nations sont devant lui comme un rien, Elles ne sont pour lui que néant et vanité.
Isaiah 40:18 Whom then is God like, in your opinion? or what will you put forward as a comparison with him?	Esaïe 40:18 A qui voulez-vous comparer Dieu? Et quelle image ferez-vous son égale?
Isaiah 40:19 The workman makes an image, and the gold-worker puts gold plates over it, and makes silver bands for it.	Esaïe 40:19 C`est un ouvrier qui fond l`idole, Et c`est un orfèvre qui la couvre d`or, Et y soude des chaînettes d`argent.
Isaiah 40:20 The wise workman makes selection of the mulberry-tree of the offering, a wood which will not become soft; so that the image may be fixed to it and not be moved.	Esaïe 40:20 Celui que la pauvreté oblige à donner peu Choisit un bois qui résiste à la vermoulure; Il se procure un ouvrier capable, Pour faire une idole qui ne branle pas.
Isaiah 40:21 Have you no knowledge of it? has it not come to your ears? has not news of it been given to you from the first? has it not been clear to you from the time when the earth was placed on its base?	Esaïe 40:21 Ne le savez-vous pas? ne l`avez-vous pas appris? Ne vous l`a-t-on pas fait connaître dès le commencement? N`avez-vous jamais réfléchi à la fondation de la terre?
Isaiah 40:22 It is he who is seated over the arch of the earth, and the people in it are as small as locusts; by him the heavens are stretched out like an arch, and made ready like a tent for a living-place.	Esaïe 40:22 C`est lui qui est assis au-dessus du cercle de la terre, Et ceux qui l`habitent sont comme des sauterelles; Il étend les cieux comme une étoffe légère, Il les déploie comme une tente, pour en faire sa demeure.
Isaiah 40:23 He makes rulers come to nothing; the judges of the earth are of no value.	Esaïe 40:23 C`est lui qui réduit les princes au néant, Et qui fait des juges de la terre une vanité;
Isaiah 40:24 They have only now been planted, and their seed put into the earth, and they have only now taken root, when he sends out his breath over them and they become dry, and the storm-wind takes them away like dry grass.	Esaïe 40:24 Ils ne sont pas même plantés, pas même semés, Leur tronc n`a pas même de racine en terre: Il souffle sur eux, et ils se dessèchent, Et un tourbillon les emporte comme le chaume.
Isaiah 40:25 Who then seems to you to be my equal? says the Holy One.	Esaïe 40:25 A qui me comparerez-vous, pour que je lui ressemble? Dit le Saint.
Isaiah 40:26 Let your eyes be lifted up on high, and see: who has made these? He who sends out their numbered army: who has knowledge of all their names: by whose great strength, because he is strong in power, all of them are in their places.	Esaïe 40:26 Levez vos yeux en haut, et regardez! Qui a créé ces choses? Qui fait marcher en ordre leur armée? Il les appelle toutes par leur nom; Par son grand pouvoir et par sa force puissante, Il n`en est pas une qui fasse défaut.
Isaiah 40:27 Why do you say, O Jacob, such words as these, O Israel, The Lord's eyes are not on my way, and my God gives no attention to my cause?	Esaïe 40:27 Pourquoi dis-tu, Jacob, Pourquoi dis-tu, Israël: Ma destinée est cachée devant l`Éternel, Mon droit passe inaperçu devant mon Dieu?
Isaiah 40:28 Have you no knowledge of it? has it not come to your ears? The eternal God, the Lord, the Maker of the ends of the earth, is never feeble or tired; there is no searching out of his wisdom.	Esaïe 40:28 Ne le sais-tu pas? ne l`as-tu pas appris? C`est le Dieu d`éternité, l`Éternel, Qui a créé les extrémités de la terre; Il ne se fatigue point, il ne se lasse point; On ne peut sonder son intelligence.
Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the feeble, increasing the strength of him who has no force.	Esaïe 40:29 Il donne de la force à celui qui est fatigué, Et il augmente la vigueur de celui qui tombe en défaillance.
Isaiah 40:30 Even the young men will become feeble and tired, and the best of them will come to the end of his strength;	Esaïe 40:30 Les adolescents se fatiguent et se lassent, Et les jeunes hommes chancellent;
Isaiah 40:31 But those who are waiting for the Lord will have new strength; they will get wings like eagles: running, they will not be tired, and walking, they will have no weariness.	Esaïe 40:31 Mais ceux qui se confient en l`Éternel renouvellent leur force. Ils prennent le vol comme les aigles; Ils courent, et ne se lassent point, Ils marchent, et ne se fatiguent point.
