Matthew 5:1 And seeing great masses of people he went up into the mountain; and when he was seated his disciples came to him.	Matthieu 5:1 Voyant la foule, Jésus monta sur la montagne; et, après qu`il se fut assis, ses disciples s`approchèrent de lui.
Matthew 5:2 And with these words he gave them teaching, saying,	Matthieu 5:2 Puis, ayant ouvert la bouche, il les enseigna, et dit:
Matthew 5:3 Happy are the poor in spirit: for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.	Matthieu 5:3 Heureux les pauvres en esprit, car le royaume des cieux est à eux!
Matthew 5:4 Happy are those who are sad: for they will be comforted.	Matthieu 5:4 Heureux les affligés, car ils seront consolés!
Matthew 5:5 Happy are the gentle: for the earth will be their heritage.	Matthieu 5:5 Heureux les débonnaires, car ils hériteront la terre!
Matthew 5:6 Happy are those whose heart's desire is for righteousness: for they will have their desire.	Matthieu 5:6 Heureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car ils seront rassasiés!
Matthew 5:7 Happy are those who have mercy: for they will be given mercy.	Matthieu 5:7 Heureux les miséricordieux, car ils obtiendront miséricorde!
Matthew 5:8 Happy are the clean in heart: for they will see God.	Matthieu 5:8 Heureux ceux qui ont le coeur pur, car ils verront Dieu!
Matthew 5:9 Happy are the peacemakers: for they will be named sons of God.	Matthieu 5:9 Heureux ceux qui procurent la paix, car ils seront appelés fils de Dieu!
Matthew 5:10 Happy are those who are attacked on account of righteousness: for the kingdom of heaven will be theirs.	Matthieu 5:10 Heureux ceux qui sont persécutés pour la justice, car le royaume des cieux est à eux!
Matthew 5:11 Happy are you when men give you a bad name, and are cruel to you, and say all evil things against you falsely, because of me.	Matthieu 5:11 Heureux serez-vous, lorsqu`on vous outragera, qu`on vous persécutera et qu`on dira faussement de vous toute sorte de mal, à cause de moi.
Matthew 5:12 Be glad and full of joy; for great is your reward in heaven: for so were the prophets attacked who were before you.	Matthieu 5:12 Réjouissez-vous et soyez dans l`allégresse, parce que votre récompense sera grande dans les cieux; car c`est ainsi qu`on a persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous.
Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth; but if its taste goes from the salt, how will you make it salt again? it is then good for nothing but to be put out and crushed under foot by men.	Matthieu 5:13 Vous êtes le sel de la terre. Mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi la lui rendra-t-on? Il ne sert plus qu`à être jeté dehors, et foulé aux pieds par les hommes.
Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A town put on a hill may be seen by all.	Matthieu 5:14 Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville située sur une montagne ne peut être cachée;
Matthew 5:15 And a burning light is not put under a vessel, but on its table; so that its rays may be shining on all who are in the house.	Matthieu 5:15 et on n`allume pas une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur le chandelier, et elle éclaire tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
Matthew 5:16 Even so let your light be shining before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.	Matthieu 5:16 Que votre lumière luise ainsi devant les hommes, afin qu`ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu`ils glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux.
Matthew 5:17 Let there be no thought that I have come to put an end to the law or the prophets. I have not come for destruction, but to make complete.	Matthieu 5:17 Ne croyez pas que je sois venu pour abolir la loi ou les prophètes; je suis venu non pour abolir, mais pour accomplir.
Matthew 5:18 Truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth come to an end, not the smallest letter or part of a letter will in any way be taken from the law, till all things are done.	Matthieu 5:18 Car, je vous le dis en vérité, tant que le ciel et la terre ne passeront point, il ne disparaîtra pas de la loi un seul iota ou un seul trait de lettre, jusqu`à ce que tout soit arrivé.
Matthew 5:19 Whoever then goes against the smallest of these laws, teaching men to do the same, will be named least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who keeps the laws, teaching others to keep them, will be named great in the kingdom of heaven.	Matthieu 5:19 Celui donc qui supprimera l`un de ces plus petits commandements, et qui enseignera aux hommes à faire de même, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux; mais celui qui les observera, et qui enseignera à les observer, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux.
Matthew 5:20 For I say to you, If your righteousness is not greater than the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never go into the kingdom of heaven.	Matthieu 5:20 Car, je vous le dis, si votre justice ne surpasse celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n`entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.
Matthew 5:21 You have knowledge that it was said in old times, You may not put to death; and, Whoever puts to death will be in danger of being judged:	Matthieu 5:21 Vous avez entendu qu`il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne tueras point; celui qui tuera mérite d`être puni par les juges.
Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be in danger of being judged; and he who says to his brother, Raca, will be in danger from the Sanhedrin; and whoever says, You foolish one, will be in danger of the hell of fire.	Matthieu 5:22 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque se met en colère contre son frère mérite d`être puni par les juges; que celui qui dira à son frère: Raca! mérite d`être puni par le sanhédrin; et que celui qui lui dira: Insensé! mérite d`être puni par le feu de la géhenne.
Matthew 5:23 If then you are making an offering at the altar and there it comes to your mind that your brother has something against you,	Matthieu 5:23 Si donc tu présentes ton offrande à l`autel, et que là tu te souviennes que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi,
Matthew 5:24 While your offering is still before the altar, first go and make peace with your brother, then come and make your offering.	Matthieu 5:24 laisse là ton offrande devant l`autel, et va d`abord te réconcilier avec ton frère; puis, viens présenter ton offrande.
Matthew 5:25 Come to an agreement quickly with him who has a cause against you at law, while you are with him on the way, for fear that he may give you up to the judge and the judge may give you to the police and you may be put into prison.	Matthieu 5:25 Accorde-toi promptement avec ton adversaire, pendant que tu es en chemin avec lui, de peur qu`il ne te livre au juge, que le juge ne te livre à l`officier de justice, et que tu ne sois mis en prison.
Matthew 5:26 Truly I say to you, You will not come out from there till you have made payment of the very last farthing.	Matthieu 5:26 Je te le dis en vérité, tu ne sortiras pas de là que tu n`aies payé le dernier quadrant.
Matthew 5:27 You have knowledge that it was said, You may not have connection with another man's wife:	Matthieu 5:27 Vous avez appris qu`il a été dit: Tu ne commettras point d`adultère.
Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone whose eyes are turned on a woman with desire has had connection with her in his heart.	Matthieu 5:28 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter a déjà commis un adultère avec elle dans son coeur.
Matthew 5:29 And if your right eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell.	Matthieu 5:29 Si ton oeil droit est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi; car il est avantageux pour toi qu`un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps entier ne soit pas jeté dans la géhenne.
Matthew 5:30 And if your right hand is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell.	Matthieu 5:30 Et si ta main droite est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la et jette-la loin de toi; car il est avantageux pour toi qu`un seul de tes membres périsse, et que ton corps entier n`aille pas dans la géhenne.
Matthew 5:31 Again, it was said, Whoever puts away his wife has to give her a statement in writing for this purpose:	Matthieu 5:31 Il a été dit: Que celui qui répudie sa femme lui donne une lettre de divorce.
Matthew 5:32 But I say to you that everyone who puts away his wife for any other cause but the loss of her virtue, makes her false to her husband; and whoever takes her as his wife after she is put away, is no true husband to her.	Matthieu 5:32 Mais moi, je vous dis que celui qui répudie sa femme, sauf pour cause d`infidélité, l`expose à devenir adultère, et que celui qui épouse une femme répudiée commet un adultère.
Matthew 5:33 Again, you have knowledge that it was said in old times, Do not take false oaths, but give effect to your oaths to the Lord:	Matthieu 5:33 Vous avez encore appris qu`il a été dit aux anciens: Tu ne te parjureras point, mais tu t`acquitteras envers le Seigneur de ce que tu as déclaré par serment.
Matthew 5:34 But I say to you, Take no oaths at all: not by the heaven, because it is the seat of God;	Matthieu 5:34 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne jurer aucunement, ni par le ciel, parce que c`est le trône de Dieu;
Matthew 5:35 Or by the earth, because it is the resting-place for his foot; or by Jerusalem, because it is the town of the great King.	Matthieu 5:35 ni par la terre, parce que c`est son marchepied; ni par Jérusalem, parce que c`est la ville du grand roi.
Matthew 5:36 You may not take an oath by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black.	Matthieu 5:36 Ne jure pas non plus par ta tête, car tu ne peux rendre blanc ou noir un seul cheveu.
Matthew 5:37 But let your words be simply, Yes or No: and whatever is more than these is of the Evil One.	Matthieu 5:37 Que votre parole soit oui, oui, non, non; ce qu`on y ajoute vient du malin.
Matthew 5:38 You have knowledge that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:	Matthieu 5:38 Vous avez appris qu`il a été dit: oeil pour oeil, et dent pour dent.
Matthew 5:39 But I say to you, Do not make use of force against an evil man; but to him who gives you a blow on the right side of your face let the left be turned.	Matthieu 5:39 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne pas résister au méchant. Si quelqu`un te frappe sur la joue droite, présente-lui aussi l`autre.
Matthew 5:40 And if any man goes to law with you and takes away your coat, do not keep back your robe from him.	Matthieu 5:40 Si quelqu`un veut plaider contre toi, et prendre ta tunique, laisse-lui encore ton manteau.
Matthew 5:41 And whoever makes you go one mile, go with him two.	Matthieu 5:41 Si quelqu`un te force à faire un mille, fais-en deux avec lui.
Matthew 5:42 Give to him who comes with a request, and keep not your property from him who would for a time make use of it.	Matthieu 5:42 Donne à celui qui te demande, et ne te détourne pas de celui qui veut emprunter de toi.
Matthew 5:43 You have knowledge that it was said, Have love for your neighbour, and hate for him who is against you:	Matthieu 5:43 Vous avez appris qu`il a été dit: Tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi.
Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, Have love for those who are against you, and make prayer for those who are cruel to you;	Matthieu 5:44 Mais moi, je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous maltraitent et qui vous persécutent,
Matthew 5:45 So that you may be the sons of your Father in heaven; for his sun gives light to the evil and to the good, and he sends rain on the upright man and on the sinner.	Matthieu 5:45 afin que vous soyez fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il fait pleuvoir sur les justes et sur les injustes.
Matthew 5:46 For if you have love for those who have love for you, what credit is it to you? do not the tax-farmers the same?	Matthieu 5:46 Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense méritez-vous? Les publicains aussi n`agissent-ils pas de même?
Matthew 5:47 And if you say, Good day, to your brothers only, what do you do more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same?	Matthieu 5:47 Et si vous saluez seulement vos frères, que faites-vous d`extraordinaire? Les païens aussi n`agissent-ils pas de même?
Matthew 5:48 Be then complete in righteousness, even as your Father in heaven is complete.	Matthieu 5:48 Soyez donc parfaits, comme votre Père céleste est parfait.
