Numbers 31:1 Then the Lord said to Moses,	Nombres 31:1 L`Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
Numbers 31:2 Give the Midianites punishment for the wrong they did to the children of Israel: and after that you will go to rest with your people.	Nombres 31:2 Venge les enfants d`Israël sur les Madianites; tu seras ensuite recueilli auprès de ton peuple.
Numbers 31:3 So Moses said to the people, Let men from among you be armed for war to put into effect against Midian the Lord's punishment on them.	Nombres 31:3 Moïse parla au peuple, et dit: Équipez d`entre vous des hommes pour l`armée, et qu`ils marchent contre Madian, afin d`exécuter la vengeance de l`Éternel sur Madian.
Numbers 31:4 From every tribe of Israel send a thousand to the war.	Nombres 31:4 Vous enverrez à l`armée mille hommes par tribu, de toutes les tribus d`Israël.
Numbers 31:5 So from the thousands of Israel a thousand were taken from every tribe, twelve thousand men armed for war.	Nombres 31:5 On leva d`entre les milliers d`Israël mille hommes par tribu, soit douze mille hommes équipés pour l`armée.
Numbers 31:6 And Moses sent them out to war, a thousand from every tribe, and with them Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, taking in his hands the vessels of the holy place and the horns for sounding the note of war.	Nombres 31:6 Moïse envoya à l`armée ces mille hommes par tribu, et avec eux le fils du sacrificateur Éléazar, Phinées, qui portait les instruments sacrés et les trompettes retentissantes.
Numbers 31:7 And they made war on Midian, as the Lord gave orders to Moses; and they put to death every male.	Nombres 31:7 Ils s`avancèrent contre Madian, selon l`ordre que l`Éternel avait donné à Moïse; et ils tuèrent tous les mâles.
Numbers 31:8 They put the kings of Midian to death with the rest, Evi and Reken and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian: and Balaam, the son of Beor, they put to death with the sword.	Nombres 31:8 Ils tuèrent les rois de Madian avec tous les autres, Évi, Rékem, Tsur, Hur et Réba, cinq rois de Madian; ils tuèrent aussi par l`épée Balaam, fils de Beor.
Numbers 31:9 The women of Midian with their little ones the children of Israel took prisoner; and all their cattle and flocks and all their goods they took for themselves;	Nombres 31:9 Les enfants d`Israël firent prisonnières les femmes des Madianites avec leurs petits enfants, et ils pillèrent tout leur bétail, tous leurs troupeaux et toutes leurs richesses.
Numbers 31:10 And after burning all their towns and all their tent-circles,	Nombres 31:10 Ils incendièrent toutes les villes qu`ils habitaient et tous leurs enclos.
Numbers 31:11 They went away with the goods they had taken, man and beast.	Nombres 31:11 Ils prirent toutes les dépouilles et tout le butin, personnes et bestiaux;
Numbers 31:12 And the prisoners and the goods and everything they had taken, they took to Moses and Eleazar the priest and the people of Israel, to the tent-circle in the lowlands of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.	Nombres 31:12 et ils amenèrent les captifs, le butin et les dépouilles, à Moïse, au sacrificateur Éléazar, et à l`assemblée des enfants d`Israël, campés dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.
Numbers 31:13 Then Moses and Eleazar the priest and the chiefs of the people went out to them before they had come into the tent-circle.	Nombres 31:13 Moïse, le sacrificateur Éléazar, et tous les princes de l`assemblée, sortirent au-devant d`eux, hors du camp.
Numbers 31:14 And Moses was angry with the chiefs of the army, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds who had come back from the war.	Nombres 31:14 Et Moïse s`irrita contre les commandants de l`armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, qui revenaient de l`expédition.
Numbers 31:15 And Moses said to them, Why have you kept all the women safe?	Nombres 31:15 Il leur dit: Avez-vous laissé la vie à toutes les femmes?
Numbers 31:16 It was these who, moved by Balaam, were the cause of Israel's sin against the Lord in the question of Peor, because of which disease came on the people of the Lord.	Nombres 31:16 Voici, ce sont elles qui, sur la parole de Balaam, ont entraîné les enfants d`Israël à l`infidélité envers l`Éternel, dans l`affaire de Peor; et alors éclata la plaie dans l`assemblée de l`Éternel.
Numbers 31:17 So now put every male child to death, and every woman who has had sex relations with a man.	Nombres 31:17 Maintenant, tuez tout mâle parmi les petits enfants, et tuez toute femme qui a connu un homme en couchant avec lui;
Numbers 31:18 But all the female children who have had no sex relations with men, you may keep for yourselves.	Nombres 31:18 mais laissez en vie pour vous toutes les filles qui n`ont point connu la couche d`un homme.
Numbers 31:19 You yourselves will have to keep outside the tent-circle for seven days, anyone of you who has put any person to death or come near a dead body; and on the third day and on the seventh day make yourselves and your prisoners clean.	Nombres 31:19 Et vous, campez pendant sept jours hors du camp; tous ceux d`entre vous qui ont tué quelqu`un, et tous ceux qui ont touché un mort, se purifieront le troisième et le septième jour, eux et vos prisonniers.
Numbers 31:20 And every bit of clothing, and anything made of leather or goats' hair or wood, you are to make clean.	Nombres 31:20 Vous purifierez aussi tout vêtement, tout objet de peau, tout ouvrage de poil de chèvre et tout ustensile de bois.
Numbers 31:21 Then Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who had been to the fight, This is the rule of the law which the Lord has given to Moses:	Nombres 31:21 Le sacrificateur Éléazar dit aux soldats qui étaient allés à la guerre: Voici ce qui est ordonné par la loi que l`Éternel a prescrite à Moïse.
Numbers 31:22 But gold and silver and brass and iron and tin and lead,	Nombres 31:22 L`or, l`argent, l`airain, le fer, l`étain et le plomb,
Numbers 31:23 And anything which may be heated, is to go through the fire and be made clean; but in addition it is to be put in the water of cleaning: and anything which may not go through the fire is to be put in the water.	Nombres 31:23 tout objet qui peut aller au feu, vous le ferez passer par le feu pour le rendre pur. Mais c`est par l`eau de purification que sera purifié tout ce qui ne peut aller au feu; vous le ferez passer dans l`eau.
Numbers 31:24 And on the seventh day, after washing your clothing, you will be clean, and then you may come into the tent-circle.	Nombres 31:24 Vous laverez vos vêtements le septième jour, et vous serez purs; ensuite, vous pourrez entrer dans le camp.
Numbers 31:25 And the Lord said to Moses,	Nombres 31:25 L`Éternel dit à Moïse:
Numbers 31:26 Get an account of everything which was taken in the war, of man and of beast, you and Eleazar the priest and the heads of families of the people:	Nombres 31:26 Fais, avec le sacrificateur Éléazar et les chefs de maison de l`assemblée, le compte du butin, de ce qui a été pris, personnes et bestiaux.
Numbers 31:27 And let division be made of it into two parts, one for the men of war who went out to the fight, and one for all the people:	Nombres 31:27 Partage le butin entre les combattants qui sont allés à l`armée et toute l`assemblée.
Numbers 31:28 And from the men of war who went out let there be offered to the Lord one out of every five hundred, from the persons, and from the oxen and asses and sheep:	Nombres 31:28 Tu prélèveras sur la portion des soldats qui sont allés à l`armée un tribut pour l`Éternel, savoir: un sur cinq cents, tant des personnes que des boeufs, des ânes et des brebis.
Numbers 31:29 Take this from their part and give it to Eleazar the priest as an offering to be lifted up to the Lord.	Nombres 31:29 Vous le prendrez sur leur moitié, et tu le donneras au sacrificateur Éléazar comme une offrande à l`Éternel.
Numbers 31:30 And from the part given to the children of Israel, take one out of every fifty, from the persons, and from the oxen and asses and sheep, and give it to the Levites who have the care of the House of the Lord.	Nombres 31:30 Et sur la moitié qui revient aux enfants d`Israël tu prendras un sur cinquante, tant des personnes que des boeufs, des ânes et des brebis, de tout animal; et tu le donneras aux Lévites, qui ont la garde du tabernacle de l`Éternel.
Numbers 31:31 So Eleazar and Moses did as the Lord had given orders to Moses.	Nombres 31:31 Moïse et le sacrificateur Éléazar firent ce que l`Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse.
Numbers 31:32 Now the beasts taken, in addition to what the fighting-men took for themselves, were six hundred and seventy-five thousand sheep,	Nombres 31:32 Le butin, reste du pillage de ceux qui avaient fait partie de l`armée, était de six cent soixante-quinze mille brebis,
Numbers 31:33 And seventy-two thousand oxen,	Nombres 31:33 soixante-douze mille boeufs,
Numbers 31:34 And sixty-one thousand asses;	Nombres 31:34 soixante et un mille ânes,
Numbers 31:35 And thirty-two thousand persons, that is, women who had never had sex relations with a man.	Nombres 31:35 et trente-deux mille personnes ou femmes qui n`avaient point connu la couche d`un homme. -
Numbers 31:36 And the half given as their part to the men who went to the war, was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand, five hundred sheep,	Nombres 31:36 La moitié, formant la part de ceux qui étaient allés à l`armée, fut de trois cent trente-sept mille cinq cents brebis,
Numbers 31:37 Of which the Lord's part was six hundred and seventy-five.	Nombres 31:37 dont six cent soixante-quinze pour le tribut à l`Éternel;
Numbers 31:38 The number of oxen was thirty-six thousand, of which the Lord's part was seventy-two;	Nombres 31:38 trente-six mille boeufs, dont soixante-douze pour le tribut à l`Éternel;
Numbers 31:39 The number of asses was thirty thousand, five hundred, of which the Lord's part was sixty-one.	Nombres 31:39 trente mille cinq cents ânes, dont soixante et un pour le tribut à l`Éternel;
Numbers 31:40 And the number of persons was sixteen thousand, of which the Lord's part was thirty-two persons.	Nombres 31:40 et seize mille personnes, dont trente-deux pour le tribut à l`Éternel.
Numbers 31:41 And Moses gave the Lord's part, lifted up as an offering, to Eleazar the priest, as the Lord had given orders to Moses.	Nombres 31:41 Moïse donna au sacrificateur Éléazar le tribut réservé comme offrande à l`Éternel, selon ce que l`Éternel lui avait ordonné. -
Numbers 31:42 And from the half given to the children of Israel, which Moses had kept separate from that given to the fighting-men,	Nombres 31:42 La moitié qui revenait aux enfants d`Israël, séparée par Moïse de celle des hommes de l`armée,
Numbers 31:43 (Now the people's half was three hundred and thirty-seven thousand, five hundred sheep,	Nombres 31:43 et formant la part de l`assemblée, fut de trois cent trente-sept mille cinq cents brebis,
Numbers 31:44 And thirty-six thousand oxen,	Nombres 31:44 trente-six mille boeufs,
Numbers 31:45 And thirty thousand, five hundred asses,	Nombres 31:45 trente mille cinq cents ânes,
Numbers 31:46 And sixteen thousand persons;)	Nombres 31:46 et seize mille personnes.
Numbers 31:47 Even from the children of Israel's half, Moses took one out of every fifty, men and beasts, and gave them to the Levites who had the care of the House of the Lord; as the Lord gave orders to Moses.	Nombres 31:47 Sur cette moitié qui revenait aux enfants d`Israël, Moïse prit un sur cinquante, tant des personnes que des animaux; et il le donna aux Lévites, qui ont la garde du tabernacle de l`Éternel, selon ce que l`Éternel lui avait ordonné.
Numbers 31:48 Then the men in authority over the thousands of the army, the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, came to Moses,	Nombres 31:48 Les commandants des milliers de l`armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, s`approchèrent de Moïse,
Numbers 31:49 And said to him, Your servants have taken note of the number of all the fighting-men under our orders, and every one is present;	Nombres 31:49 et lui dirent: Tes serviteurs ont fait le compte des soldats qui étaient sous nos ordres, et il ne manque pas un homme d`entre nous.
Numbers 31:50 And we have here an offering for the Lord from what every man took in the war, ornaments of gold, leg-chains and arm-rings, finger-rings, ear-rings, and neck-ornaments, to make our souls free from sin before the Lord.	Nombres 31:50 Nous apportons, comme offrande à l`Éternel, chacun les objets d`or que nous avons trouvés, chaînettes, bracelets, anneaux, pendants d`oreilles, et colliers, afin de faire pour nos personnes l`expiation devant l`Éternel.
Numbers 31:51 So Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold from them, even all the worked ornaments.	Nombres 31:51 Moïse et le sacrificateur Éléazar reçurent d`eux tous ces objets travaillés en or.
Numbers 31:52 And the gold which the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds gave, as an offering to be lifted up before the Lord, came to sixteen thousand, seven hundred and fifty shekels.	Nombres 31:52 Tout l`or, que les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines présentèrent à l`Éternel en offrande par élévation, pesait seize mille sept cent cinquante sicles.
Numbers 31:53 (For every man of the army had taken goods for himself in the war.)	Nombres 31:53 Les hommes de l`armée gardèrent chacun le butin qu`ils avaient fait.
Numbers 31:54 Then Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold given by the captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and took it into the Tent of meeting, to be a sign in memory of the children of Israel before the Lord.	Nombres 31:54 Moïse et le sacrificateur Éléazar prirent l`or des chefs de milliers et des chefs de centaines, et l`apportèrent à la tente d`assignation, comme souvenir pour les enfants d`Israël devant l`Éternel.
