| If then you have a new life with Christ, give your attention to the things of heaven, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. | Seid ihr nun mit Christo auferstanden, so suchet, was droben ist, da Christus ist, sitzend zu der Rechten Gottes. |
| Keep your mind on the higher things, not on the things of earth. | Trachtet nach dem, was droben ist, nicht nach dem, was auf Erden ist. |
| For your life on earth is done, and you have a secret life with Christ in God. | Denn ihr seid gestorben, und euer Leben ist verborgen mit Christo in Gott. |
| At the coming of Christ who is our life, you will be seen with him in glory. | Wenn aber Christus, euer Leben, sich offenbaren wird, dann werdet ihr auch offenbar werden mit ihm in der Herrlichkeit. |
| Then put to death your bodies which are of the earth; wrong use of the flesh, unclean things, passion, evil desires and envy, which is the worship of strange gods; | So tötet nun eure Glieder, die auf Erden sind, Hurerei, Unreinigkeit, schändliche Brunst, böse Lust und den Geiz, welcher ist Abgötterei, |
| Because of which the wrath of God comes on those who go against his orders; | um welcher willen kommt der Zorn Gottes über die Kinder des Unglaubens; |
| Among whom you were living in the past, when you did such things. | in welchem auch ihr weiland gewandelt habt, da ihr darin lebtet. |
| But now it is right for you to put away all these things; wrath, passion, bad feeling, curses, unclean talk; | Nun aber leget alles ab von euch: den Zorn, Grimm, Bosheit, Lästerung, schandbare Worte aus eurem Munde. |
| Do not make false statements to one another; because you have put away the old man with all his doings, | Lüget nicht untereinander; zieht den alten Menschen mit seinen Werken aus |
| And have put on the new man, which has become new in knowledge after the image of his maker; | und ziehet den neuen an, der da erneuert wird zur Erkenntnis nach dem Ebenbilde des, der ihn geschaffen hat; |
| Where there is no Greek or Jew, no one with circumcision or without circumcision, no division between nations, no servant or free man: but Christ is all and in all. | da nicht ist Grieche, Jude, Beschnittener, Unbeschnittener, Ungrieche, Scythe, Knecht, Freier, sondern alles und in allen Christus. |
| As saints of God, then, holy and dearly loved, let your behaviour be marked by pity and mercy, kind feeling, a low opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, and a power of undergoing all things; | So ziehet nun an, als die Auserwählten Gottes, Heiligen und Geliebten, herzliches Erbarmen, Freundlichkeit, Demut, Sanftmut, Geduld; |
| Being gentle to one another and having forgiveness for one another, if anyone has done wrong to his brother, even as the Lord had forgiveness for you: | und vertrage einer den andern und vergebet euch untereinander, so jemand Klage hat wider den andern; gleichwie Christus euch vergeben hat, also auch ihr. |
| And more than all, have love; the only way in which you may be completely joined together. | Über alles aber ziehet an die Liebe, die da ist das Band der Vollkommenheit. |
| And let the peace of Christ be ruling in your hearts, as it was the purpose of God for you to be one body; and give praise to God at all times. | Und der Friede Gottes regiere in euren Herzen, zu welchem ihr auch berufen seid in einem Leibe; und seid dankbar! |
| Let the word of Christ be in you in all wealth of wisdom; teaching and helping one another with songs of praise and holy words, making melody to God with grace in your hearts. | Lasset das Wort Christi unter euch reichlich wohnen in aller Weisheit; lehret und vermahnet euch selbst mit Psalmen und Lobgesängen und geistlichen lieblichen Liedern und singt dem HERRN in eurem Herzen. |
| And whatever you do, in word or in act, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving praise to God the Father through him. | Und alles, was ihr tut mit Worten oder mit Werken, das tut alles in dem Namen des HERRN Jesu, und danket Gott und dem Vater durch ihn. |
| Wives, be under the authority of your husbands, as is right in the Lord. | Ihr Weiber, seid untertan euren Männern in dem HERRN, wie sich's gebührt. |
| Husbands, have love for your wives, and be not bitter against them. | Ihr Männer, liebet eure Weiber und seid nicht bitter gegen sie. |
| Children, do the orders of your fathers and mothers in all things, for this is pleasing to the Lord. | Ihr Kinder, seid gehorsam euren Eltern in allen Dingen; denn das ist dem HERRN gefällig. |
| Fathers, do not be hard on your children, so that their spirit may not be broken. | Ihr Väter, erbittert eure Kinder nicht, auf daß sie nicht scheu werden. |
| Servants, in all things do the orders of your natural masters; not only when their eyes are on you, as pleasers of men, but with all your heart, fearing the Lord: | Ihr Knechte, seid gehorsam in allen Dingen euren leiblichen Herren, nicht mit Dienst vor Augen, als den Menschen zu gefallen, sondern mit Einfalt des Herzens und mit Gottesfurcht. |
| Whatever you do, do it readily, as to the Lord and not to men; | Alles, was ihr tut, das tut von Herzen als dem HERRN und nicht den Menschen, |
| Being certain that the Lord will give you the reward of the heritage: for you are the servants of the Lord Christ. | und wisset, daß ihr von dem HERRN empfangen werdet die Vergeltung des Erbes; denn ihr dienet dem HERRN Christus. |
| For the wrongdoer will have punishment for the wrong he has done, without respect for any man's position. | Wer aber Unrecht tut, der wird empfangen, was er unrecht getan hat; und gilt kein Ansehen der Person. |
