| Now these are the generations of Esau, that is to say, Edom. | Das ist das Geschlecht Esaus, der da heißt Edom. |
| Esau's wives were women of Canaan: Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite, | Esau nahm Weiber von den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter Elons, des Hethiters, und Oholibama, die Tochter des Ana, die Enkelin des Zibeons, des Heviters, |

| Adah had a son Eliphaz; and Basemath was the mother of Reuel; | Und Ada gebar dem Esau Eliphas, aber Basmath gebar Reguel. |
| Oholibamah was the mother of Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the sons of Esau, whose birth took place in the land of Canaan. | Oholibama gebar Jehus, Jaelam und Korah. Das sind Esaus Kinder, die ihm geboren sind im Lande Kanaan. |
| Esau took his wives and his sons and his daughters, and all the people of his house, and his beasts and his cattle and all his goods which he had got together in the land of Canaan, and went into the land of Seir, away from his brother Jacob. | Und Esau nahm seine Weiber, Söhne und Töchter und alle Seelen seines Hauses, seine Habe und alles Vieh mit allen Gütern, so er im Lande Kanaan erworben hatte, und zog in ein ander Land, hinweg von seinem Bruder Jakob. |
| For their wealth was so great that the land was not wide enough for the two of them and all their cattle. | Denn ihre Habe war zu groß, daß sie nicht konnten beieinander wohnen; und das Land darin sie Fremdlinge waren, vermochte sie nicht zu ertragen vor der Menge ihres Viehs. |
| So Esau made his living-place in the hill-country of Seir (Esau is Edom). | Also wohnte Esau auf dem Gebirge Seir. Und Esau ist der Edom. |
| And these are the generations of Esau, the father of the Edomites in the hill-country of Seir: | Dies ist das Geschlecht Esaus, von dem die Edomiter herkommen, auf dem Gebirge Seir. |
| These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau's wife Basemath. | Und so heißen die Kinder Esaus: Eliphas, der Sohn Adas, Esaus Weibes; Reguel, der Sohn Basmaths, Esaus Weibes. |
| The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz. | Des Eliphas Söhne aber waren diese: Theman, Omar, Zepho, Gaetham und Kenas. |
| And Eliphaz, the son of Esau, had connection with a woman named Timna, who gave birth to Amalek: all these were the children of Esau's wife Adah. | Und Thimna war ein Kebsweib des Eliphas, Esaus Sohnes; die gebar ihm Amalek. Das sind die Kinder von Ada, Esaus Weib. |
| And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: they were the children of Esau's wife Basemath. | Die Kinder aber Reguels sind diese: Nahath, Serah, Samma, Missa. Das sind die Kinder von Basmath, Esaus Weib. |

| And these are the sons of Esau's son Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, Mizzah: these were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom, the children of Esau's wife Basemath. | Und das sind die Kinder Reguels, Esaus Sohnes: der Fürst Nahath, der Fürst Serah, der Fürst Samma, der Fürst Missa. Das sind die Fürsten von Reguel im Lande der Edomiter und sind Kinder von der Basmath, Esaus Weib. |
| And these are the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah: these were the chiefs who came from Esau's wife Oholibamah, daughter of Anah. | Das sind die Kinder Oholibamas, Esaus Weibes: der Fürst Jehus, der Fürst Jaelam, der Fürst Korah. | These are the sons of Seir the Horite who were living in that country; Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, | Die Kinder aber von Seir, dem Horiter, die im Lande wohnten, sind diese: Lotan, Sobal, Zibeon, Ana, Dison, Ezer und Disan. |
| Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan: these are the chiefs of the Horites, offspring of Seir in the land of Edom. | Das sind die Fürsten der Horiter, Kinder des Seir, im Lande Edom. |
| The children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; Lotan's sister was Timna. | Aber des Lotan Kinder waren diese: Hori, Heman; und Lotans Schwester hieß Thimna. |
| And these are the children of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. | Die Kinder von Sobal waren diese: Alwan, Manahath, Ebal, Sepho und Onam. |
| And these are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; that same Anah who made the discovery of the water-springs in the waste land, when he was looking after the asses of his father Zibeon. | Die Kinder von Zibeon waren diese: Aja und Ana. | Bela, son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of his chief town was Dinhabah. | Bela war König in Edom, ein Sohn Beors, und seine Stadt hieß Dinhaba. |
| At his death, Jobab, son of Zerah of Bozrah, became king in his place. | Und da Bela starb, ward König an seiner Statt Jobab, ein Sohn Serahs von Bozra. |
| And at the death of Jobab, Husham, from the country of the Temanites, became king in his place. | Da Jobab starb, ward an seiner Statt König Husam aus der Themaniter Lande. |
| And at the death of Husham, Hadad, son of Bedad, who overcame the Midianites in the field of Moab, became king; his chief town was named Avith. | Da Husam starb, ward König an seiner Statt Hadad, ein Sohn Bedads, der die Midianiter schlug auf der Moabiter Felde; und seine Stadt hieß Awith. |
| And at the death of Hadad, Samlah of Masrekah became king. | Da Hadad starb, regierte Samla von Masrek. |
| And at the death of Samlah, Shaul of Rehoboth by the River became king in his place. | Da Samla starb, ward Saul König, von Rehoboth am Strom. |
| And at the death of Shaul, Baal-hanan, son of Achbor, became king. | Da Saul starb, ward an seiner Statt König Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors. |

| Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, | der Fürst Kenas, der Fürst Theman, der Fürst Mibzar, |
| Magdiel, Iram; these are the Edomite chiefs, in their places in their heritage; this is Esau, the father of the Edomites. | der Fürst Magdiel, der Fürst Iram. Das sind die Fürsten in Edom, wie sie gewohnt haben in ihrem Erblande. Das ist Esau, der Vater der Edomiter. |
