| The Lord says, Heaven is the seat of my power, and earth is the resting-place for my feet: what sort of house will you make for me, and what place will be my resting-place? | So spricht der HERR: Der Himmel ist mein Stuhl und die Erde meine Fußbank; was ist's denn für ein Haus, daß ihr mir bauen wollt, oder welches ist die Stätte, da ich ruhen soll? |
| For all these things my hand has made, and they are mine, says the Lord; but to this man only will I give attention, to him who is poor and broken in spirit, fearing my word. | Meine Hand hat alles gemacht, was da ist, spricht der HERR. Ich sehe aber an den Elenden und der zerbrochenen Geistes ist und der sich fürchtet vor meinem Wort. |
| He who puts an ox to death puts a man to death; he who makes an offering of a lamb puts a dog to death; he who makes a meal offering makes an offering of pig's blood; he who makes an offering of perfumes for a sign gives worship to an image: as they have gone after their desires, and their soul takes pleasure in their disgusting things; | Wer einen Ochsen schlachtet, ist eben als der einen Mann erschlüge; wer ein Schaf opfert, ist als der einem Hund den Hals bräche; wer Speisopfer bringt, ist als der Saublut opfert, wer Weihrauch anzündet, ist als der das Unrecht lobt. Solches erwählen sie in ihren Wegen, und ihre Seele hat Gefallen an ihren Greueln. |
| So I will go after trouble for them, and will send on them what they are fearing: because no one made answer to my voice, or gave ear to my word; but they did what was evil in my eyes, going after that in which I took no pleasure. | Darum will ich auch erwählen, was ihnen wehe tut; und was sie scheuen, will ich über sie kommen lassen, darum daß ich rief, und niemand antwortete, daß ich redete, und sie hörten nicht und taten, was mir übel gefiel, und erwählten, was mir nicht gefiel. |
| Give ear to the word of the Lord, you who are in fear at his word: your countrymen, hating you, and driving you out because of my name, have said, Let the Lord's glory be made clear, so that we may see your joy; but they will be put to shame. | Höret des HERRN Wort, die ihr euch fürchtet vor seinem Wort: Eure Brüder, die euch hassen und sondern euch ab um meines Namens willen, sprechen: "Laßt sehen, wie herrlich der HERR sei, laßt ihn erscheinen zu eurer Freude"; die sollen zu Schanden werden. |
| There is a noise of war from the town, a sound from the Temple, the voice of the Lord giving punishment to his haters. | Man wird hören eine Stimme des Getümmels in der Stadt, eine Stimme vom Tempel, eine Stimme des HERRN, der seinen Feinden bezahlt. |
| Before her pains came, she gave birth; before her pains, she gave birth to a man-child. | Sie gebiert, ehe ihr wehe wird; sie ist genesen eines Knaben, ehe denn ihre Kindsnot kommt. |
| When has such a story come to men's ears? who has seen such things? will a land come to birth in one day? will a nation be given birth in a minute? For when Zion's pains came on her, she gave birth to her children straight away. | Wer hat solches je gehört? wer hat solches je gesehen? Kann auch, ehe denn ein Land die Wehen kriegt, ein Volk auf einmal geboren werden? Nun hat doch ja Zion ihre Kinder ohne Wehen geboren. |
| Will I by whom the birth was started, not make it complete? says the Lord. Will I who make children come to birth, let them be kept back? says your God. | Sollte ich das Kind lassen die Mutter brechen und nicht auch lassen geboren werden? spricht der HERR. Sollte ich, der gebären läßt, verschließen? spricht dein Gott. |
| Have joy with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you her lovers: take part in her joy, all you who are sorrowing for her: | Freuet euch mit Jerusalem und seid fröhlich über sie, alle, die ihr sie liebhabt; freuet euch mit ihr, alle, die ihr hier über sie traurig gewesen seid! |
| So that you may take of the comfort flowing from her breasts, and be delighted with the full measure of her glory. | Denn dafür sollt ihr saugen und satt werden von den Brüsten ihres Trostes; ihr sollt dafür saugen und euch ergötzen an der Fülle ihrer Herrlichkeit. |
| For the Lord says, See, I will make her peace like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream, and she will take her children in her arms, gently caring for them on her knees. | Denn also spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich breite aus den Frieden bei ihr wie einen Strom und die Herrlichkeit der Heiden wie einen ergossenen Bach; da werdet ihr saugen. Ihr sollt auf dem Arme getragen werden, und auf den Knieen wird man euch freundlich halten. |
| As to one who is comforted by his mother, so will I give you comfort: and you will be comforted in Jerusalem. | Ich will euch trösten, wie einen seine Mutter tröstet; ja, ihr sollt an Jerusalem ergötzt werden. |
| And you will see it and your heart will be glad, and your bones will get new strength, like young grass: and the hand of the Lord will be seen at work for his servants, and his wrath against his haters. | Ihr werdet's sehen, und euer Herz wird sich freuen, und euer Gebein soll grünen wie Gras. Da wird man erkennen die Hand des HERRN an seinen Knechten und den Zorn an seinen Feinden. |
| For the Lord is coming with fire, and his war-carriages will be like the storm-wind; to give punishment in the heat of his wrath, and his passion is like flames of fire. | Denn siehe, der HERR wird kommen mit Feuer und seine Wagen wie ein Wetter, daß er vergelte im Grimm seines Zorns und mit Schelten in Feuerflammen. |
| For with fire and sword will the Lord come, judging all the earth, and his sword will be on all flesh: and great numbers will be put to death by him. | Denn der HERR wird durchs Feuer richten und durch sein Schwert alles Fleisch; und der Getöteten des HERRN wird viel sein. |
| As for those who keep themselves separate, and make themselves clean in the gardens, going after one in the middle, taking pig's flesh for food, and other disgusting things, such as the mouse: their works and their thoughts will come to an end together, says the Lord. | Die sich heiligen und reinigen in den Gärten, einer hier, der andere da, und essen Schweinefleisch, Greuel und Mäuse, sollen weggerafft werden miteinander, spricht der HERR. |
| And I am coming to get together all nations and tongues: and they will come and will see my glory. | Und ich kenne ihre Werke und Gedanken. Es kommt die Zeit, daß ich sammle alle Heiden und Zungen, daß sie kommen und sehen meine Herrlichkeit. |
| And I will put a sign among them, and I will send those who are still living to the nations, to Tarshish, Put, and Lud, Meshech and Rosh, Tubal and Javan, to the sea-lands far away, who have not had word of me, or seen my glory; and they will give the knowledge of my glory to the nations. | Und ich will ein Zeichen unter sie geben und ihrer etliche, die errettet sind, senden zu den Heiden, gen Tharsis, gen Phul und Lud zu den Bogenschützen, gen Thubal und Javan und in die Ferne zu den Inseln, da man nichts von mir gehört hat und die meine Herrlichkeit nicht gesehen haben; und sollen meine Herrlichkeit unter den Heiden verkündigen. |
| And they will take your countrymen out of all the nations for an offering to the Lord, on horses, and in carriages, and in carts, and on asses, and on camels, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, as the children of Israel take their offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord. | Und sie werden alle eure Brüder aus allen Heiden herzubringen, dem HERR zum Speisopfer, auf Rossen und Wagen, auf Sänften, auf Maultieren und Dromedaren gen Jerusalem, zu meinem heiligen Berge, spricht der HERR, gleichwie die Kinder Israel Speisopfer in reinem Gefäß bringen zum Hause des HERRN. |
| And some of them will I take for priests and Levites, says the Lord. | Und ich will auch aus ihnen nehmen Priester und Leviten, spricht der HERR. |
| For as the new heaven and the new earth which I will make will be for ever before me, says the Lord, so will your seed and your name be for ever. | Denn gleichwie der neue Himmel und die neue Erde, die ich mache, vor mir stehen, spricht der HERR, also soll auch euer Same und Name stehen. |
| And it will be, that from new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh will come to give worship before me, says the Lord. | Und alles Fleisch wird einen Neumond nach dem andern und einen Sabbat nach dem andern kommen, anzubeten vor mir, spricht der HERR. |
| And they will go out to see the dead bodies of the men who have done evil against me: for their worm will ever be living, and their fire will never be put out, and they will be a thing of fear to all flesh. | Und sie werden hinausgehen und schauen die Leichname der Leute, die an mir übel gehandelt haben; denn ihr Wurm wird nicht sterben, und ihr Feuer nicht verlöschen, und werden allem Fleisch ein Greuel sein. |
