| And this was the part marked out for the tribe of Manasseh, because he was the oldest son of Joseph. As for Machir, the oldest son of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war he had Gilead and Bashan. | Und das Los fiel dem Stamm Manasse, denn er ist Josephs erster Sohn, und fiel auf Machir, den ersten Sohn Manasses, den Vater Gileads, denn er war ein streitbarer Mann; darum ward ihm Gilead und Basan. |
| And as for the rest of the children of Manasseh, their heritage was given to them by families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, by their families. | Den andern Kindern aber Manasses nach ihren Geschlechtern fiel es auch, nämlich den Kindern Abiesers, den Kindern Heleks, den Kindern Asriels, den Kindern Sichems, den Kindern Hephers und den Kindern Semidas. Das sind die Kinder Manasses, des Sohnes Josephs, die Männer, nach ihren Geschlechtern. |
| But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but only daughters; and these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. | Aber Zelophehad, der Sohn Hephers, des Sohnes Gilead, des Sohnes Machir, des Sohnes Manasses, hatte keine Söhne, sondern Töchter, und ihre Namen sind diese: Mahela, Noa, Hogla, Milka, Thirza; |
| And they came before Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and before the chiefs, saying, The Lord gave orders to Moses to give us a heritage among our brothers: so in agreement with the orders of the Lord he gave them a heritage among their father's brothers. | und sie traten vor den Priester Eleasar und vor Josua, den Sohn Nuns, und vor die Obersten und sprachen: Der HERR hat Mose geboten, daß er uns solle Erbteil geben unter unsern Brüdern. Und man gab ihnen Erbteil unter den Brüdern ihres Vaters nach dem Befehl des HERRN. |
| And ten parts were given to Manasseh, in addition to the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is on the other side of Jordan; | Es fielen aber auf Manasse zehn Meßschnüre, außer dem Lande Gilead und Basan, das jenseit des Jordans liegt; |
| Because the daughters of Manasseh had a heritage among his sons, and the land of Gilead was the property of the other sons of Manasseh. | denn die Töchter Manasse nahmen Erbteil unter seinen Söhnen, und das Land Gilead war den andern Kindern Manasses. |
| And the limit of Manasseh's land was from Asher to Michmethath, which is before Shechem; the line goes on to the right hand, to the people of En-tappuah. | Und die Grenze Manasses war von Asser gen Michmethath, das vor Sichem liegt, und reicht zur Rechten an die von En-Thappuah; |
| The land of Tappuah was the property of Manasseh; but Tappuah on the edge of Manasseh was the property of the children of Ephraim. | denn das Land Thappuah ward dem Manasse; aber Thappuah an der Grenze Manasses ward den Kindern Ephraim; |
| And the limit goes down to the stream Kanah, to the south of the stream: these towns were Ephraim's among the towns of Manasseh; Manasseh's limit was on the north side of the stream, ending at the sea: | darnach kommt sie herab zum Bach Kana zur Mittagsseite des Bachs, die Städte daselbst sind Ephraims unter den Städten Manasses; die Grenze Manasses aber geht weiter an der Mitternachtseite des Baches und endet am Meer. |
| To the south it is Ephraim's, and to the north it is Manasseh's, and the sea is his limit; and they are touching Asher on the north, and Issachar on the east. | Dem Ephraim ward's gegen Mittag und dem Manasse gegen Mitternacht, und das Meer ist seine Grenze; und sie sollen stoßen an Asser von Mitternacht und an Isaschar von Morgen. |
| In Issachar and Asher, Manasseh had Beth-shean and its daughter-towns, and Ibleam and its daughter-towns, and the people of Dor and its daughter-towns, and the people of En-dor and its daughter-towns, and the people of Taanach and its daughter-towns, and the people of Megiddo and its daughter-towns, that is, the three hills. | So hatte nun Manasse unter Isaschar und Asser: Beth-Sean und seine Ortschaften, Jibleam und seine Ortschaften und die zu Dor und seine Ortschaften und die zu Endor und seine Ortschaften und die zu Thaanach und seine Ortschaften und die zu Megiddo und seine Ortschaften und den dritten Teil Nepheths. |
| But the children of Manasseh were not able to make the people of those towns go out; but the Canaanites would go on living in that land. | Und die Kinder Manasse konnten diese Städte nicht einnehmen; sondern die Kanaaniter blieben wohnen in dem Lande. |
| And when the children of Israel had become strong, they put the Canaanites to forced work, in place of driving them out. | Da aber die Kinder Israel mächtig wurden, machten sie die Kanaaniter zinsbar und vertrieben sie nicht. |
| Then the children of Joseph said to Joshua, Why have you given me only one part and one stretch of land for my heritage? For through the blessing given to me by the Lord up to now, I am a great people. | Da redeten die Kinder Joseph mit Josua und sprachen: Warum hast du mir nur ein Los und eine Schnur des Erbteils gegeben? Und ich bin doch ein großes Volk, wie mich der HERR so gesegnet hat. |
| Then Joshua said to them, If you are such a great people, go up into the woodlands, clearing a place there for yourselves in the land of the Perizzites and the Rephaim, if the hill-country of Ephraim is not wide enough for you. | Da sprach Josua zu ihnen: Weil du ein großes Volk bist, so gehe hinauf in den Wald und haue um daselbst im Lande die Pheresiter und Riesen, weil dir das Gebirge Ephraim zu enge ist. |
| And the children of Joseph said, The hill-country is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites living in the valley have iron war-carriages, those in Beth-shean and its towns as well as those in the valley of Jezreel. | Da sprachen die Kinder Joseph: Das Gebirge wird nicht Raum genug für uns sein, und es sind eiserne Wagen bei allen Kanaanitern, die im Tal des Landes wohnen: bei denen zu Beth-Sean und seinen zugehörigen Orten und bei denen im Tal Jesreel. |
| Then Joshua said to the children of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, You are a great people, and have great power: you are not to have one property only, | Josua sprach zum Hause Josephs, zu Ephraim und Manasse: Du bist ein großes Volk; und weil du so groß bist, sollst du nicht nur ein Los haben, |
| For the hill-country of Gilead will be yours ... the woodland and cut down ... its outskirts will be yours ... get the Canaanites out, for they have iron war-carriages ... strong. | sondern das Gebirge soll dein sein, da der Wald ist, den haue um; und er wird dein sein bis an seine Enden, wenn du die Kanaaniter vertreibst, die eiserne Wagen haben und mächtig sind. |
