Romans 7	Römer 7
Romans 7:1 Is it not clear, my brothers (I am using an argument to those who have knowledge of the law), that the law has power over a man as long as he is living?	Römer 7:1 Wisset ihr nicht, liebe Brüder (denn ich rede mit solchen, die das Gesetz wissen), daß das Gesetz herrscht über den Menschen solange er lebt?
Romans 7:2 For the woman who has a husband is placed by the law under the power of her husband as long as he is living; but if her husband is dead, she is free from the law of the husband.	Römer 7:2 Denn ein Weib, das unter dem Manne ist, ist an ihn gebunden durch das Gesetz, solange der Mann lebt; so aber der Mann stirbt, so ist sie los vom Gesetz, das den Mann betrifft.
Romans 7:3 So if, while the husband is living, she is joined to another man, she will get the name of one who is untrue to her husband: but if the husband is dead, she is free from the law, so that she is not untrue, even if she takes another man.	Römer 7:3 Wo sie nun eines andern Mannes wird, solange der Mann lebt, wird sie eine Ehebrecherin geheißen; so aber der Mann stirbt, ist sie frei vom Gesetz, daß sie nicht eine Ehebrecherin ist, wo sie eines andern Mannes wird.
Romans 7:4 In the same way, my brothers, you were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, even to him who came again from the dead, so that we might give fruit to God.	Römer 7:4 Also seid auch ihr, meine Brüder, getötet dem Gesetz durch den Leib Christi, daß ihr eines andern seid, nämlich des, der von den Toten auferweckt ist, auf daß wir Gott Frucht bringen.
Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the evil passions which came into being through the law were working in our bodies to give the fruit of death.	Römer 7:5 Denn da wir im Fleisch waren, da waren die sündigen Lüste, welche durchs Gesetz sich erregten, kräftig in unsern Gliedern, dem Tode Frucht zu bringen.
Romans 7:6 But now we are free from the law, having been made dead to that which had power over us; so that we are servants in the new way of the spirit, not in the old way of the letter.	Römer 7:6 Nun aber sind wir vom Gesetz los und ihm abgestorben, das uns gefangenhielt, also daß wir dienen sollen im neuen Wesen des Geistes und nicht im alten Wesen des Buchstabens.
Romans 7:7 What then is to be said? is the law sin? in no way. But I would not have had knowledge of sin but for the law: for I would not have been conscious of desire if the law had not said, You may not have a desire for what is another's.	Römer 7:7 Was wollen wir denn nun sagen? Ist das Gesetz Sünde? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde erkannte ich nicht, außer durchs Gesetz. Denn ich wußte nichts von der Lust, wo das Gesetz nicht hätte gesagt: "Laß dich nicht gelüsten!"
Romans 7:8 But sin, taking its chance through that which was ordered by the law, was working in me every form of desire: because without the law sin is dead.	Römer 7:8 Da nahm aber die Sünde Ursache am Gebot und erregte in mir allerlei Lust; denn ohne das Gesetz war die Sünde tot.
Romans 7:9 And there was a time when I was living without the law: but when the law gave its orders, sin came to life and put me to death;	Römer 7:9 Ich aber lebte weiland ohne Gesetz; da aber das Gebot kam, ward die Sünde wieder lebendig,
Romans 7:10 And I made the discovery that the law whose purpose was to give life had become a cause of death:	Römer 7:10 ich aber starb; und es fand sich, daß das Gebot mir zum Tode gereichte, das mir doch zum Leben gegeben war.
Romans 7:11 For I was tricked and put to death by sin, which took its chance through the law.	Römer 7:11 Denn die Sünde nahm Ursache am Gebot und betrog mich und tötete mich durch dasselbe Gebot.
Romans 7:12 But the law is holy, and its orders are holy, upright, and good.	Römer 7:12 Das Gesetz ist ja heilig, und das Gebot ist heilig, recht und gut.
Romans 7:13 Was then that which is good, death to me? In no way. But the purpose was that sin might be seen to be sin by working death to me through that which is good; so that through the orders of the law sin might seem much more evil.	Römer 7:13 Ist denn, das da gut ist, mir zum Tod geworden? Das sei ferne! Aber die Sünde, auf daß sie erscheine, wie sie Sünde ist, hat sie mir durch das Gute den Tod gewirkt, auf daß die Sünde würde überaus sündig durchs Gebot.
Romans 7:14 For we are conscious that the law is of the spirit; but I am of the flesh, given into the power of sin.	Römer 7:14 Denn wir wissen, daß das Gesetz geistlich ist; ich bin aber fleischlich, unter die Sünde verkauft.
Romans 7:15 And I have no clear knowledge of what I am doing, for that which I have a mind to do, I do not, but what I have hate for, that I do.	Römer 7:15 Denn ich weiß nicht, was ich tue. Denn ich tue nicht, was ich will; sondern, was ich hasse, das tue ich.
Romans 7:16 But, if I do that which I have no mind to do, I am in agreement with the law that the law is good.	Römer 7:16 So ich aber das tue, was ich nicht will, so gebe ich zu, daß das Gesetz gut sei.
Romans 7:17 So it is no longer I who do it, but the sin living in me.	Römer 7:17 So tue ich nun dasselbe nicht, sondern die Sünde, die in mir wohnt.
Romans 7:18 For I am conscious that in me, that is, in my flesh, there is nothing good: I have the mind but not the power to do what is right.	Römer 7:18 Denn ich weiß, daß in mir, das ist in meinem Fleische, wohnt nichts Gutes. Wollen habe ich wohl, aber vollbringen das Gute finde ich nicht.
Romans 7:19 For the good which I have a mind to do, I do not: but the evil which I have no mind to do, that I do.	Römer 7:19 Denn das Gute, das ich will, das tue ich nicht; sondern das Böse, das ich nicht will, das tue ich.
Romans 7:20 But if I do what I have no mind to do, it is no longer I who do it, but the sin living in me.	Römer 7:20 So ich aber tue, was ich nicht will, so tue ich dasselbe nicht; sondern die Sünde, die in mir wohnt.
Romans 7:21 So I see a law that, though I have a mind to do good, evil is present in me.	Römer 7:21 So finde ich mir nun ein Gesetz, der ich will das Gute tun, daß mir das Böse anhangt.
Romans 7:22 In my heart I take pleasure in the law of God,	Römer 7:22 Denn ich habe Lust an Gottes Gesetz nach dem inwendigen Menschen.
Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my body, working against the law of my mind, and making me the servant of the law of sin which is in my flesh.	Römer 7:23 Ich sehe aber ein ander Gesetz in meinen Gliedern, das da widerstreitet dem Gesetz in meinem Gemüte und nimmt mich gefangen in der Sünde Gesetz, welches ist in meinen Gliedern.
Romans 7:24 How unhappy am I! who will make me free from the body of this death?	Römer 7:24 Ich elender Mensch! wer wird mich erlösen von dem Leibe dieses Todes?
Romans 7:25 I give praise to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So with my mind I am a servant to the law of God, but with my flesh to the law of sin.	Römer 7:25 Ich danke Gott durch Jesum Christum, unserm HERRN. So diene ich nun mit dem Gemüte dem Gesetz Gottes, aber mit dem Fleische dem Gesetz der Sünde.
