Amos 5	Amos 5
Amos 5:1 Give ear to this word, my song of sorrow over you, O children of Israel.	Amos 5:1 Ascoltate questa parola; questo lamento che io pronunzio su voi, o casa d’Israele!
Amos 5:2 The virgin of Israel has been made low, never again to be lifted up: she is stretched out by herself on her land; there is no one to put her on her feet again.	Amos 5:2 La vergine d’Israele è caduta, e non risorgerà più; giace distesa sul suo suolo né v’è chi la rialzi.
Amos 5:3 For these are the words of the Lord God: The town which was able to send out a thousand, will have only a hundred; and that which sent out a hundred, will have only ten, in Israel.	Amos 5:3 Poiché così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Alla città che metteva in campagna mille uomini, non ne resteranno che cento; alla città che ne metteva in campagna cento, non ne resteranno che dieci per la casa d’Israele.
Amos 5:4 For these are the words of the Lord to the children of Israel: Let your hearts be turned to me, so that you may have life:	Amos 5:4 Poiché così parla l’Eterno alla casa d’Israele: Cercatemi e vivrete!
Amos 5:5 Do not be looking for help to Beth-el, and do not go to Gilgal, or make your way to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal will certainly be taken prisoner, and Beth-el will come to nothing.	Amos 5:5 Non cercate Bethel, non andate a Ghilgal non vi recate fino a Beer-Sceba; perché Ghilgal andrà di sicuro in cattività, e Bethel sarà ridotto a niente.
Amos 5:6 Go to the Lord for help so that you may have life; for fear that he may come like fire bursting out in the family of Joseph, causing destruction, and there will be no one to put it out in Beth-el.	Amos 5:6 Cercate l’Eterno e vivrete, per tema ch’egli non s’avventi come un fuoco sulla casa di Giuseppe, e la divori senza che in Bethel ci sia chi spenga
Amos 5:7 You who make the work of judging a bitter thing, crushing down righteousness to the earth;	Amos 5:7 o voi che mutate il diritto in assenzio, e gettate a terra la giustizia.
Amos 5:8 Go for help to him who makes Orion and the Pleiades, by whom the deep dark is turned into morning, who makes the day black with night; whose voice goes out to the waters of the sea, sending them out over the face of the earth: the Lord is his name;	Amos 5:8 Egli ha fatto le Pleiadi e Orione, muta l’ombra di morte in aurora, e fa del giorno una notte oscura; chiama le acque del mare, e le riversa sulla faccia della terra: il suo nome è l’Eterno.
Amos 5:9 Who sends sudden destruction on the strong, so that destruction comes on the walled town.	Amos 5:9 Egli fa sorger d’improvviso la ruina sui potenti, sì ché la ruina piomba sulle fortezze.
Amos 5:10 They have hate for him who makes protest against evil in the public place, and he whose words are upright is disgusting to them.	Amos 5:10 Essi odiano colui che li riprende alla porta, e hanno in orrore che parla con integrità.
Amos 5:11 So because the poor man is crushed under your feet, and you take taxes from him of grain: you have made for yourselves houses of cut stone, but you will not take your rest in them; the fair vine-gardens planted by your hands will not give you wine.	Amos 5:11 Perciò, visto che calpestate il povero ed esigete da lui donativi di frumento, voi fabbricate case di pietre da taglio, ma non le abiterete; piantate vigne deliziose, ma non ne berrete il vino.
Amos 5:12 For I have seen how your evil-doing is increased and how strong are your sins, you troublers of the upright, who take rewards and do wrong to the cause of the poor in the public place.	Amos 5:12 Poiché io conosco come son numerose le vostre trasgressioni, come son gravi i vostri peccati; voi sopprimete il giusto, accettate regali e fate torto ai poveri alla porta.
Amos 5:13 So the wise will say nothing in that time; for it is an evil time.	Amos 5:13 Ecco perché, in tempi come questi, il savio si tace; perché i tempi sono malvagi.
Amos 5:14 Go after good and not evil, so that life may be yours: and so the Lord, the God of armies, will be with you, as you say.	Amos 5:14 Cercate il bene e non il male, onde viviate, e l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti, sia con voi, come dite.
Amos 5:15 Be haters of evil and lovers of good, and let right be done in the public place: it may be that the Lord, the God of armies, will have mercy on the rest of Joseph.	Amos 5:15 Odiate il male, amate il bene, e, alle porte, stabilite saldamente il diritto. Forse, l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti, avrà pietà del rimanente di Giuseppe.
Amos 5:16 So these are the words of the Lord, the God of armies, the Lord: There will be weeping in all the open spaces; and in all the streets they will say, Sorrow! sorrow! and they will get in the farmer to the weeping, and the makers of sad songs to give cries of grief.	Amos 5:16 Perciò, così dice l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti, il Signore: In tutte le piazze si farà lamento, e in tutte le strade si dirà: "Ahimè! ahimè!" Si chiameranno gli agricoltori perché prendano il lutto, e si ordineranno lamentazioni a quelli che le sanno fare.
Amos 5:17 In all the vine-gardens there will be cries of grief: for I will go through among you, says the Lord.	Amos 5:17 In tutte le vigne si farà lamento, perché io passerò in mezzo a te, dice l’Eterno.
Amos 5:18 Sorrow to you who are looking for the day of the Lord! what is the day of the Lord to you? it is dark and not light.	Amos 5:18 Guai a voi che desiderate il giorno dell’Eterno! Che v’aspettate voi dal giorno dell’Eterno? Sarà un giorno di tenebre, non di luce.
Amos 5:19 As if a man, running away from a lion, came face to face with a bear; or went into the house and put his hand on the wall and got a bite from a snake.	Amos 5:19 Sarà di voi come d’uno che fugge davanti a un leone, e lo incontra un orso; come d’uno ch’entra in casa, appoggia la mano sulla parete, e un serpente lo morde.
Amos 5:20 Will not the day of the Lord be dark and not light? even very dark, with no light shining in it?	Amos 5:20 Il giorno dell’Eterno non è esso forse tenebre, e non luce? oscurissimo e senza splendore?
Amos 5:21 Your feasts are disgusting to me, I will have nothing to do with them; I will take no delight in your holy meetings.	Amos 5:21 Io odio, disprezzo le vostre feste, non prendo piacere nelle vostre solenni raunanze.
Amos 5:22 Even if you give me your burned offerings and your meal offerings, I will not take pleasure in them: I will have nothing to do with the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.	Amos 5:22 Se m’offrite i vostri olocausti e le vostre oblazioni, io non li gradisco; e non fo conto delle bestie grasse, che m’offrite in sacrifizi di azioni di grazie.
Amos 5:23 Take away from me the noise of your songs; my ears are shut to the melody of your instruments.	Amos 5:23 Lungi da me il rumore de’ tuoi canti! ch’io non oda più la musica de’ tuoi saltèri!
Amos 5:24 But let the right go rolling on like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.	Amos 5:24 Ma corra il diritto com’acqua, e la giustizia, come un rivo perenne!
Amos 5:25 Did you come to me with offerings of beasts and meal offerings in the waste land for forty years, O Israel?	Amos 5:25 O casa d’Israele, mi presentaste voi sacrifizi e oblazioni nel deserto, durante i quarant’anni?
Amos 5:26 Truly, you will take up Saccuth your king and Kaiwan your images, the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.	Amos 5:26 Orbene voi vi toglierete in ispalla il baldacchino del vostro re, e il piedistallo delle vostre immagini, la stella dei vostri dèi, che voi vi siete fatti;
Amos 5:27 And I will send you away as prisoners farther than Damascus, says the Lord, whose name is the God of armies.	Amos 5:27 e vi farò andare in cattività al di là di Damasco, dice l’Eterno, che ha nome l’Iddio degli eserciti.
