John 11	Giovanni 11
John 11:1 Now a certain man named Lazarus was ill; he was of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.	Giovanni 11:1 Or v’era un ammalato, un certo Lazzaro di Betania, del villaggio di Maria e di Marta sua sorella.
John 11:2 (The Mary whose brother Lazarus was ill, was the Mary who put perfumed oil on the Lord and made his feet dry with her hair.)	Giovanni 11:2 Maria era quella che unse il Signore d’olio odorifero e gli asciugò i piedi co’ suoi capelli; e Lazzaro, suo fratello, era malato.
John 11:3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, Lord, your dear friend is ill.	Giovanni 11:3 Le sorelle dunque mandarono a dire a Gesù: Signore, ecco, colui che tu ami è malato.
John 11:4 When this came to his ears, Jesus said, The end of this disease is not death, but the glory of God, so that the Son of God may have glory because of it.	Giovanni 11:4 Gesù, udito ciò, disse: Questa malattia non è a morte, ma è per la gloria di Dio, affinché per mezzo d’essa il Figliuol di Dio sia glorificato.
John 11:5 Now Jesus had love in his heart for Martha and her sister and Lazarus.	Giovanni 11:5 Or Gesù amava Marta e sua sorella e Lazzaro.
John 11:6 So when the news came to him that Lazarus was ill, he did not go from the place where he was for two days.	Giovanni 11:6 Come dunque ebbe udito ch’egli era malato, si trattenne ancora due giorni nel luogo dov’era;
John 11:7 Then after that time he said to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.	Giovanni 11:7 poi dopo, disse a’ discepoli: Torniamo in Giudea!
John 11:8 The disciples said to him, Master, the Jews were attempting only the other day to have you stoned, and are you going back there again?	Giovanni 11:8 I discepoli gli dissero: Maestro, i Giudei cercavano or ora di lapidarti, e tu vuoi tornar là?
John 11:9 Then Jesus said in answer, Are there not twelve hours in the day? A man may go about in the day without falling, because he sees the light of this world.	Giovanni 11:9 Gesù rispose: Non vi son dodici ore nel giorno? Se uno cammina di giorno, non inciampa, perché vede la luce di questo mondo;
John 11:10 But if a man goes about in the night, he may have a fall because the light is not in him.	Giovanni 11:10 ma se uno cammina di notte, inciampa, perché la luce non è in lui.
John 11:11 These things said he: and after that he said to them, Lazarus our friend is at rest; but I go so that I may make him come out of his sleep.	Giovanni 11:11 Così parlò; e poi disse loro: Il nostro amico Lazzaro s’è addormentato; ma io vado a svegliarlo.
John 11:12 Then his disciples said to him, Lord, if he is resting he will get well.	Giovanni 11:12 Perciò i discepoli gli dissero: Signore, s’egli dorme, sarà salvo.
John 11:13 Jesus, however, was talking of his death: but they had the idea that he was talking about taking rest in sleep.	Giovanni 11:13 Or Gesù avea parlato della morte di lui; ma essi pensarono che avesse parlato del dormir del sonno.
John 11:14 Then Jesus said to them clearly, Lazarus is dead.	Giovanni 11:14 Allora Gesù disse loro apertamente: Lazzaro è morto;
John 11:15 And because of you I am glad I was not there, so that you may have faith; but let us go to him.	Giovanni 11:15 e per voi mi rallegro di non essere stato là, affinché crediate; ma ora, andiamo a lui!
John 11:16 Then Thomas, who was named Didymus, said to the other disciples, Let us go so that we may be with him in death.	Giovanni 11:16 Allora Toma, detto Didimo, disse ai suoi condiscepoli: Andiamo anche noi, per morire con lui!
John 11:17 Now when Jesus came, he made the discovery that Lazarus had been put into the earth four days before.	Giovanni 11:17 Gesù dunque, arrivato, trovò che Lazzaro era già da quattro giorni nel sepolcro.
John 11:18 Now Bethany was near to Jerusalem, about two miles away;	Giovanni 11:18 Or Betania non distava da Gerusalemme che circa quindici stadi;
John 11:19 And a number of Jews had come to Martha and Mary to give them comfort about their brother.	Giovanni 11:19 e molti Giudei eran venuti da Marta e Maria per consolarle del loro fratello.
John 11:20 When Martha had the news that Jesus was on the way, she went out to him, but Mary did not go from the house.	Giovanni 11:20 Come dunque Marta ebbe udito che Gesù veniva, gli andò incontro; ma Maria stava seduta in casa.
John 11:21 Then Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if you had been here my brother would not be dead.	Giovanni 11:21 Marta dunque disse a Gesù: Signore, se tu fossi stato qui, mio fratello non sarebbe morto;
John 11:22 But I am certain that, even now, whatever request you make to God, God will give it to you.	Giovanni 11:22 e anche adesso so che tutto quel che chiederai a Dio, Dio te lo darà.
John 11:23 Jesus said to her, Your brother will come to life again.	Giovanni 11:23 Gesù le disse: Tuo fratello risusciterà.
John 11:24 Martha said to him, I am certain that he will come to life again when all come back from the dead at the last day.	Giovanni 11:24 Marta gli disse: Lo so che risusciterà, nella risurrezione, nell’ultimo giorno.
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, I am myself that day and that life; he who has faith in me will have life even if he is dead;	Giovanni 11:25 Gesù le disse: Io son la resurrezione e la vita; chi crede in me, anche se muoia, vivrà;
John 11:26 And no one who is living and has faith in me will ever see death. Is this your faith?	Giovanni 11:26 e chiunque vive e crede in me, non morrà mai. Credi tu questo?
John 11:27 She said to him, Yes, Lord: my faith is that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.	Giovanni 11:27 Ella gli disse: Sì, o Signore, io credo che tu sei il Cristo, il Figliuol di Dio che dovea venire nel mondo.
John 11:28 And having said this, she went away and said secretly to her sister Mary, The Master is here and has sent for you.	Giovanni 11:28 E detto questo, se ne andò, e chiamò di nascosto Maria, sua sorella, dicendole: il Maestro è qui, e ti chiama.
John 11:29 And Mary, hearing this, got up quickly and went to him.	Giovanni 11:29 Ed ella, udito questo, si alzò in fretta e venne a lui.
John 11:30 Now Jesus had not at this time come into the town, but was still in the place where Martha had seen him.	Giovanni 11:30 Or Gesù non era ancora entrato nel villaggio, ma era sempre nel luogo dove Marta l’aveva incontrato.
John 11:31 Then the Jews who were with her in the house, comforting her, when they saw Mary get up quickly and go out, went after her in the belief that she was going to the place of the dead and would be weeping there.	Giovanni 11:31 Quando dunque i Giudei ch’erano in casa con lei e la consolavano, videro che Maria s’era alzata in fretta ed era uscita, la seguirono, supponendo che si recasse al sepolcro a piangere.
John 11:32 When Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she went down at his feet, saying, Lord, if you had been here my brother would not be dead.	Giovanni 11:32 Appena Maria fu giunta dov’era Gesù e l’ebbe veduto, gli si gettò a’ piedi dicendogli: Signore, se tu fossi stato qui, mio fratello non sarebbe morto.
John 11:33 And when Jesus saw her weeping, and saw the Jews weeping who came with her, his spirit was moved and he was troubled,	Giovanni 11:33 E quando Gesù la vide piangere, e vide i Giudei ch’eran venuti con lei piangere anch’essi, fremé nello spirito, si conturbò, e disse:
John 11:34 And said, Where have you put him? They said, Come and see, Lord.	Giovanni 11:34 Dove l’avete posto? Essi gli dissero: Signore, vieni a vedere!
John 11:35 And Jesus himself was weeping.	Giovanni 11:35 Gesù pianse.
John 11:36 So the Jews said, See how dear he was to him!	Giovanni 11:36 Onde i Giudei dicevano: Guarda come l’amava!
John 11:37 But some of them said, This man, who made open the eyes of the blind man, was he not able to keep his friend from death?	Giovanni 11:37 Ma alcuni di loro dicevano: Non poteva, lui che ha aperto gli occhi al cieco, fare anche che questi non morisse?
John 11:38 So Jesus, deeply troubled in heart, came to the place of the dead. It was a hole in the rock, and a stone was over the opening.	Giovanni 11:38 Gesù dunque, fremendo di nuovo in se stesso, venne al sepolcro. Era una grotta, e una pietra era posta all’apertura.
John 11:39 Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said, Lord, by this time the body will be smelling, for he has been dead four days.	Giovanni 11:39 Gesù disse: Togliete via la pietra! Marta, la sorella del morto, gli disse: Signore, egli puzza già, perché siamo al quarto giorno.
John 11:40 Jesus said to her, Did I not say to you that if you had faith you would see the glory of God?	Giovanni 11:40 Gesù le disse: Non t’ho io detto che se credi, tu vedrai la gloria di Dio?
John 11:41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus, looking up to heaven, said, Father, I give praise to you for hearing me.	Giovanni 11:41 Tolsero dunque la pietra. E Gesù, alzati gli occhi in alto, disse: Padre, ti ringrazio che m’hai esaudito.
John 11:42 I was certain that your ears are at all times open to me, but I said it because of these who are here, so that they may see that you sent me.	Giovanni 11:42 Io ben sapevo che tu m’esaudisci sempre; ma ho detto questo a motivo della folla che mi circonda, affinché credano che tu m’hai mandato.
John 11:43 Then he said in a loud voice, Lazarus, come out!	Giovanni 11:43 E detto questo, gridò con gran voce: Lazzaro vieni fuori!
John 11:44 And he who was dead came out, with linen bands folded tightly about his hands and feet, and a cloth about his face. Jesus said to them, Make him free and let him go.	Giovanni 11:44 E il morto uscì, avendo i piedi e le mani legati da fasce, e il viso coperto d’uno sciugatoio. Gesù disse loro: Scioglietelo, e lasciatelo andare.
John 11:45 Then a number of the Jews who had come to Mary and had seen the things which Jesus did had belief in him.	Giovanni 11:45 Perciò molti dei Giudei che eran venuti da Maria e avean veduto le cose fatte da Gesù, credettero in lui.
John 11:46 But some of them went to the Pharisees with the news of what Jesus had done.	Giovanni 11:46 Ma alcuni di loro andarono dai Farisei e raccontaron loro quel che Gesù avea fatto.
John 11:47 Then the high priests and the Pharisees had a meeting and said, What are we doing? This man is doing a number of signs.	Giovanni 11:47 I capi sacerdoti quindi e i Farisei radunarono il Sinedrio e dicevano: Che facciamo? perché quest’uomo fa molti miracoli.
John 11:48 If we let him go on in this way, everybody will have belief in him and the Romans will come and take away our place and our nation.	Giovanni 11:48 Se lo lasciamo fare, tutti crederanno in lui; e i Romani verranno e ci distruggeranno e città e nazione.
John 11:49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, You have no knowledge of anything;	Giovanni 11:49 E un di loro, Caiàfa, che era sommo sacerdote di quell’anno, disse loro: Voi non capite nulla;
John 11:50 You do not see that it is in your interest for one man to be put to death for the people, so that all the nation may not come to destruction.	Giovanni 11:50 e non riflettete come vi torni conto che un uomo solo muoia per il popolo, e non perisca tutta la nazione.
John 11:51 He did not say this of himself, but being the high priest that year he said, as a prophet, that Jesus would be put to death for the nation;	Giovanni 11:51 Or egli non disse questo di suo; ma siccome era sommo sacerdote di quell’anno, profetò che Gesù dovea morire per la nazione;
John 11:52 And not for that nation only, but for the purpose of uniting in one body the children of God all over the world.	Giovanni 11:52 e non soltanto per la nazione, ma anche per raccogliere in uno i figliuoli di Dio dispersi.
John 11:53 And from that day they took thought together how to put him to death.	Giovanni 11:53 Da quel giorno dunque deliberarono di farlo morire.
John 11:54 So Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near to the waste land, to a town named Ephraim, where he was for some time with the disciples.	Giovanni 11:54 Gesù quindi non andava più apertamente fra i Giudei, ma si ritirò di là nella contrada vicino al deserto, in una città detta Efraim; e quivi si trattenne co’ suoi discepoli.
John 11:55 Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and numbers of people went up from the country to Jerusalem to make themselves clean before the Passover.	Giovanni 11:55 Or la Pasqua de’ Giudei era vicina; e molti di quella contrada salirono a Gerusalemme prima della Pasqua per purificarsi.
John 11:56 They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another while they were in the Temple, What is your opinion? Will he not come to the feast?	Giovanni 11:56 Cercavan dunque Gesù; e stando nel tempio dicevano tra loro: Che ve ne pare? Che non abbia venire alla festa?
John 11:57 Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone had knowledge where he was, he was to give them word, so that they might take him.	Giovanni 11:57 Or i capi sacerdoti e i Farisei avean dato ordine che se alcuno sapesse dove egli era, ne facesse denunzia perché potessero pigliarlo.
