| Then the heads of the families of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel; | Or i capi famiglia de’ Leviti si accostarono al sacerdote Eleazar, a Giosuè figliuolo di Nun e ai capi famiglia delle tribù dei figliuoli d’Israele, |
| And said to them in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, The Lord gave orders by Moses that we were to have towns for living in, with their grass-lands for our cattle. | e parlaron loro a Sciloh, nel paese di Canaan, dicendo: "L’Eterno comandò, per mezzo di Mosè, che ci fossero date delle città da abitare, coi loro contadi per il nostro bestiame". |
| And the children of Israel out of their heritage gave to the Levites these towns with their grass-lands, by the order of the Lord. | E i figliuoli d’Israele diedero, della loro eredità, ai Leviti le seguenti città coi loro contadi, secondo il comandamento dell’Eterno. |
| And the heritage came out for the families of the Kohathites: the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin. | Si tirò a sorte per le famiglie dei Kehatiti; e i figliuoli del sacerdote Aaronne, ch’erano Leviti, ebbero a sorte tredici città della tribù di Giuda, della tribù di Simeone e della tribù di Beniamino. |
| The rest of the children of Kohath by their families were given ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan and the half-tribe of Manasseh. | Al resto de’ figliuoli di Kehath toccarono a sorte dieci città delle famiglie della tribù di Efraim, della tribù di Dan e della mezza tribù di Manasse. |
| The children of Gershon by their families were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh which was in Bashan. | Ai figliuoli di Gherson toccarono a sorte tredici città delle famiglie della tribù d’Issacar, della tribù di Ascer, della tribù di Neftali e della mezza tribù di Manasse in Basan. |
| The children of Merari by their families were given twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun. | Ai figliuoli di Merari, secondo le loro famiglie, toccarono dodici città della tribù di Ruben, della tribù di Gad e della tribù di Zabulon. |
| All these towns with their grass-lands the children of Israel gave by the decision of the Lord to the Levites, as the Lord had given orders by Moses. | I figliuoli d’Israele diedero dunque a sorte, coteste città coi loro contadi ai Leviti, come l’Eterno avea comandato per mezzo di Mosè. |

| These were for the children of Aaron among the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi: for they came first in the distribution. | le quali toccarono ai figliuoli d’Aaronne di tra le famiglie dei Kehatiti, figliuoli di Levi, perché il primo lotto fu per loro. |

| All these towns were given to the children of Merari by their families, that is, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their heritage was twelve towns. | Totale delle città date a sorte ai figliuoli di Merari, secondo le loro famiglie formanti il resto delle famiglie dei Leviti: dodici città. |
| All the towns of the Levites, among the heritage of the children of Israel, were forty-eight towns with their grass-lands. | Totale delle città dei Leviti in mezzo ai possessi de’ figliuoli d’Israele: quarantotto città e i loro contadi. |
| Every one of these towns had grass-lands round it. | Ciascuna di queste città aveva il suo contado tutt’intorno; così era di tutte queste città. |
| So the Lord gave to Israel all the land which he gave by oath to their fathers; so it became their heritage and their living-place. | L’Eterno diede dunque a Israele tutto il paese che avea giurato ai padri di dar loro, e i figliuoli d’Israele ne presero possesso, e vi si stanziarono. |
| And the Lord gave them peace on every side, as he had said to their fathers: all those who were against them gave way before them, for the Lord gave them all up into their hands. | E l’Eterno diede loro requie d’ogn’intorno, come avea giurato ai loro padri; nessuno di tutti i lor nemici poté star loro a fronte; l’Eterno diede loro nelle mani tutti quei nemici. |
| The Lord kept faith with the house of Israel about all the good which he said he would do for them, and all his words came true. | Di tutte le buone parole che l’Eterno avea dette alla casa d’Israele non una cadde a terra: tutte si compierono. |
