Matthew 23:1 Then Jesus said to the people and to his disciples:	Matteo 23:1 Allora Gesù parlò alle turbe e ai suoi discepoli,
Matthew 23:2 The scribes and the Pharisees have the authority of Moses;	Matteo 23:2 dicendo: Gli scribi e i Farisei seggono sulla cattedra di Mosè.
Matthew 23:3 All things, then, which they give you orders to do, these do and keep: but do not take their works as your example, for they say and do not.	Matteo 23:3 Fate dunque ed osservate tutte le cose che vi diranno, ma non fate secondo le opere loro; perché dicono e non fanno.
Matthew 23:4 They make hard laws and put great weights on men's backs; but they themselves will not put a finger to them.	Matteo 23:4 Difatti, legano de’ pesi gravi e li mettono sulle spalle della gente; ma loro non li voglion muovere neppure col dito.
Matthew 23:5 But all their works they do so as to be seen by men: for they make wide their phylacteries, and the edges of their robes,	Matteo 23:5 Tutte le loro opere le fanno per essere osservati dagli uomini; difatti allargano le lor filatterie ed allungano le frange de’ mantelli;
Matthew 23:6 And the things desired by them are the first places at feasts, and the chief seats in the Synagogues,	Matteo 23:6 ed amano i primi posti ne’ conviti e i primi seggi nelle sinagoghe
Matthew 23:7 And words of respect in the market-places, and to be named by men, Teacher.	Matteo 23:7 e i saluti nelle piazze e d’esser chiamati dalla gente: "Maestro!"
Matthew 23:8 But you may not be named Teacher: for one is your teacher, and you are all brothers.	Matteo 23:8 Ma voi non vi fate chiamar "Maestro", perché uno solo è il vostro maestro, e voi siete tutti fratelli.
Matthew 23:9 And give no man the name of father on earth: because one is your Father, who is in heaven.	Matteo 23:9 E non chiamate alcuno sulla terra vostro padre, perché uno solo è il Padre vostro, quello che è ne’ cieli.
Matthew 23:10 And you may not be named guides: because one is your Guide, even Christ.	Matteo 23:10 E non vi fate chiamar guide, perché una sola è la vostra guida, il Cristo:
Matthew 23:11 But let the greatest among you be your servant.	Matteo 23:11 ma il maggiore fra voi sia vostro servitore.
Matthew 23:12 And whoever makes himself high will be made low, and whoever makes himself low will be made high.	Matteo 23:12 Chiunque s’innalzerà sarà abbassato, e chiunque si abbasserà sarà innalzato.
Matthew 23:13 But a curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! because you are shutting the kingdom of heaven against men: for you do not go in yourselves, and those who are going in, you keep back.	Matteo 23:13 Ma guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché serrate il regno de’ cieli dinanzi alla gente; poiché, né vi entrate voi, né lasciate entrare quelli che cercano di entrare.
Matthew 23:14 []	Matteo 23:14 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché divorate le case delle vedove, e fate per apparenza lunghe orazioni; perciò riceverete maggior condanna.
Matthew 23:15 A curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! for you go about land and sea to get one disciple and, having him, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.	Matteo 23:15 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché scorrete mare e terra per fare un proselito; e fatto che sia, lo rendete figliuol della geenna il doppio di voi.
Matthew 23:16 A curse is on you, blind guides, who say, Whoever takes an oath by the Temple, it is nothing; but whoever takes an oath by the gold of the Temple, he is responsible.	Matteo 23:16 Guai a voi, guide cieche, che dite: Se uno giura per il tempio, non è nulla; ma se giura per l’oro del tempio, resta obbligato.
Matthew 23:17 You foolish ones and blind: which is greater, the gold, or the Temple which makes the gold holy?	Matteo 23:17 Stolti e ciechi, poiché qual è maggiore: l’oro, o il tempio che santifica l’oro?
Matthew 23:18 And, Whoever takes an oath by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever takes an oath by the offering which is on it, he is responsible.	Matteo 23:18 E se uno, voi dite, giura per l’altare, non è nulla; ma se giura per l’offerta che c’è sopra, resta obbligato.
Matthew 23:19 You blind ones: which is greater, the offering, or the altar which makes the offering holy?	Matteo 23:19 Ciechi, poiché qual è maggiore: l’offerta, o l’altare che santifica l’offerta?
Matthew 23:20 He, then, who takes an oath by the altar, takes it by the altar and by all things on it.	Matteo 23:20 Chi dunque giura per l’altare, giura per esso e per tutto quel che c’è sopra;
Matthew 23:21 And he who takes an oath by the Temple, takes it by the Temple and by him whose house it is.	Matteo 23:21 e chi giura per il tempio, giura per esso e per Colui che l’abita;
Matthew 23:22 And he who takes an oath by heaven, takes it by the seat of God, and by him who is seated on it.	Matteo 23:22 e chi giura per il cielo, giura per il trono di Dio e per Colui che vi siede sopra.
Matthew 23:23 A curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! for you make men give a tenth of all sorts of sweet-smelling plants, but you give no thought to the more important things of the law, righteousness, and mercy, and faith; but it is right for you to do these, and not to let the others be undone.	Matteo 23:23 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché pagate la decima della menta e dell’aneto e del comino, e trascurate le cose più gravi della legge: il giudicio, e la misericordia, e la fede. Queste son le cose che bisognava fare, senza tralasciar le altre.
Matthew 23:24 You blind guides, who take out a fly from your drink, but make no trouble over a camel.	Matteo 23:24 Guide cieche, che colate il moscerino e inghiottite il cammello.
Matthew 23:25 A curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! for you make clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside they are full of violent behaviour and uncontrolled desire.	Matteo 23:25 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché nettate il di fuori del calice e del piatto, mentre dentro son pieni di rapina e d’intemperanza.
Matthew 23:26 You blind Pharisee, first make clean the inside of the cup and of the plate, so that the outside may become equally clean.	Matteo 23:26 Fariseo cieco, netta prima il di dentro del calice e del piatto, affinché anche il di fuori diventi netto.
Matthew 23:27 A curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! for you are like the resting-places of the dead, which are made white, and seem beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men's bones and of all unclean things.	Matteo 23:27 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché siete simili a sepolcri imbiancati, che appaion belli di fuori, ma dentro son pieni d’ossa di morti e d’ogni immondizia.
Matthew 23:28 Even so you seem to men to be full of righteousness, but inside you are all false and full of wrongdoing.	Matteo 23:28 Così anche voi, di fuori apparite giusti alla gente; ma dentro siete pieni d’ipocrisia e d’iniquità.
Matthew 23:29 A curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! because you put up buildings for housing the dead bodies of the prophets, and make fair the last resting-places of good men, and say,	Matteo 23:29 Guai a voi, scribi e Farisei ipocriti, perché edificate i sepolcri ai profeti, e adornate le tombe de’ giusti e dite:
Matthew 23:30 If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in the blood of the prophets.	Matteo 23:30 Se fossimo stati ai dì de’ nostri padri, non saremmo stati loro complici nello spargere il sangue dei profeti!
Matthew 23:31 So that you are witnesses against yourselves that you are the sons of those who put the prophets to death.	Matteo 23:31 Talché voi testimoniate contro voi stessi, che siete figliuoli di coloro che uccisero i profeti.
Matthew 23:32 Make full, then, the measure of your fathers.	Matteo 23:32 E voi, colmate pure la misura dei vostri padri!
Matthew 23:33 You snakes, offspring of snakes, how will you be kept from the punishment of hell?	Matteo 23:33 Serpenti, razza di vipere, come scamperete al giudizio della geenna?
Matthew 23:34 For this reason, I send you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: some of them you will put to death and put on the cross, and to some of them you will give blows in your Synagogues, driving them from town to town;	Matteo 23:34 Perciò, ecco, io vi mando de’ profeti e de’ savi e degli scribi; di questi, alcuni ne ucciderete e metterete in croce; altri ne flagellerete nelle vostre sinagoghe e li perseguiterete di città in città,
Matthew 23:35 So that on you may come all the blood of the upright on the earth, from the blood of upright Abel to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom you put to death between the Temple and the altar.	Matteo 23:35 affinché venga su voi tutto il sangue giusto sparso sulla terra, dal sangue del giusto Abele, fino al sangue di Zaccaria, figliuol di Barachia, che voi uccideste fra il tempio e l’altare.
Matthew 23:36 Truly I say to you, All these things will come on this generation.	Matteo 23:36 Io vi dico in verità che tutte queste cose verranno su questa generazione.
Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, putting to death the prophets, and stoning those who are sent to her! Again and again would I have taken your children to myself as a bird takes her young ones under her wings, and you would not!	Matteo 23:37 Gerusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti e lapidi quelli che ti sono mandati, quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figliuoli, come la gallina raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto le ali; e voi non avete voluto!
Matthew 23:38 See, your house is made waste.	Matteo 23:38 Ecco, la vostra casa sta per esservi lasciata deserta.
Matthew 23:39 For I say to you, You will not see me from this time till you say, A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord.	Matteo 23:39 Poiché vi dico che d’ora innanzi non mi vedrete più, finché diciate: Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!
