Matthew 3:1 And in those days John the Baptist came preaching in the waste land of Judaea,	Matteo 3:1 Or in que’ giorni comparve Giovanni il Battista, predicando nel deserto della Giudea e dicendo:
Matthew 3:2 Saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin; for the kingdom of heaven is near.	Matteo 3:2 Ravvedetevi, poiché il regno de’ cieli è vicino.
Matthew 3:3 For this is he of whom Isaiah the prophet said, The voice of one crying in the waste land, Make ready the way of the Lord, make his roads straight.	Matteo 3:3 Di lui parlò infatti il profeta Isaia quando disse: V’è una voce d’uno che grida nel deserto: Preparate la via del Signore, addirizzate i suoi sentieri.
Matthew 3:4 Now John was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather band about him; and his food was locusts and honey.	Matteo 3:4 Or esso Giovanni aveva il vestimento di pelo di cammello ed una cintura di cuoio intorno a’ fianchi; ed il suo cibo erano locuste e miele selvatico.
Matthew 3:5 Then Jerusalem and all Judaea went out to him, and all the people from near Jordan;	Matteo 3:5 Allora Gerusalemme e tutta la Giudea e tutto il paese d’intorno al Giordano presero ad accorrere a lui;
Matthew 3:6 And they were given baptism by him in the river Jordan, saying openly that they had done wrong.	Matteo 3:6 ed erano battezzati da lui nel fiume Giordano, confessando i loro peccati.
Matthew 3:7 But when he saw a number of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Offspring of snakes, at whose word are you going in flight from the wrath to come?	Matteo 3:7 Ma vedendo egli molti dei Farisei e dei Sadducei venire al suo battesimo, disse loro: Razza di vipere, chi v’ha insegnato a fuggir dall’ira a venire?
Matthew 3:8 Let your change of heart be seen in your works:	Matteo 3:8 Fate dunque de’ frutti degni del ravvedimento.
Matthew 3:9 And say not to yourselves, We have Abraham for our father; because I say to you that God is able from these stones to make children for Abraham.	Matteo 3:9 E non pensate di dir dentro di voi: Abbiamo per padre Abramo; perché io vi dico che Iddio può da queste pietre far sorgere de’ figliuoli ad Abramo.
Matthew 3:10 And even now the axe is put to the root of the trees; every tree then which does not give good fruit is cut down, and put into the fire.	Matteo 3:10 E già la scure è posta alla radice degli alberi; ogni albero dunque che non fa buon frutto, sta per esser tagliato e gittato nel fuoco.
Matthew 3:11 Truly, I give baptism with water to those of you whose hearts are changed; but he who comes after me is greater than I, whose shoes I am not good enough to take up: he will give you baptism with the Holy Spirit and with fire:	Matteo 3:11 Ben vi battezzo io con acqua, in vista del ravvedimento; ma colui che viene dietro a me è più forte di me, ed io non son degno di portargli i calzari; egli vi battezzerà con lo Spirito Santo e con fuoco.
Matthew 3:12 In whose hand is the instrument with which he will make clean his grain; he will put the good grain in his store, but the waste will be burned up in the fire which will never be put out.	Matteo 3:12 Egli ha il suo ventilabro in mano, e netterà interamente l’aia sua, e raccoglierà il suo grano nel granaio, ma arderà la pula con fuoco inestinguibile.
Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be given baptism by him.	Matteo 3:13 Allora Gesù dalla Galilea si recò al Giordano da Giovanni per esser da lui battezzato.
Matthew 3:14 But John would have kept him back, saying, It is I who have need of baptism from you, and do you come to me?	Matteo 3:14 Ma questi vi si opponeva dicendo: Son io che ho bisogno d’esser battezzato da te, e tu vieni a me?
Matthew 3:15 But Jesus made answer, saying to him, Let it be so now: because so it is right for us to make righteousness complete. Then he gave him baptism.	Matteo 3:15 Ma Gesù gli rispose: Lascia fare per ora; poiché conviene che noi adempiamo così ogni giustizia. Allora Giovanni lo lasciò fare.
Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, having been given baptism, straight away went up from the water; and, the heavens opening, he saw the Spirit of God coming down on him as a dove;	Matteo 3:16 E Gesù, tosto che fu battezzato, salì fuor dell’acqua; ed ecco i cieli s’apersero, ed egli vide lo Spirito di Dio scendere come una colomba e venir sopra lui.
Matthew 3:17 And a voice came out of heaven, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.	Matteo 3:17 Ed ecco una voce dai cieli che disse: Questo è il mio diletto Figliuolo nel quale mi son compiaciuto. Matteo Capitolo 4
