| Now these are the priests and the Levites who went up with Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, | Questi sono i sacerdoti e i Leviti che tornarono con Zorobabel, figliuolo di Scealthiel, e con Jeshua: Seraia, Geremia, |

| Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah, | Bilga, Scemaia, Joiarib, |
| Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brothers in the days of Jeshua. | Jedaia, Sallu, Amok, Hilkia, Jedaia. Questi erano i capi de’ sacerdoti e de’ loro fratelli al tempo di Jeshua. |
| And the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who was over the music-makers, he and his brothers. | Leviti: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Scerebia, Giuda, Mattania, che dirigeva coi suoi fratelli il canto delle laudi. |
| And Bakbukiah and Unno, their brothers, were opposite them in their watches. | Bakbukia e Unni, loro fratelli, s’alternavan con loro secondo il loro turno. |
| And Jeshua was the father of Joiakim, and Joiakim was the father of Eliashib, and Eliashib was the father of Joiada, | Jeshua generò Joiakim; Joiakim generò Eliascib; Eliascib generò Joiada, |
| And Joiada was the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan was the father of Jaddua. | Joiada generò Jonathan; Jonathan generò Jaddua. |
| And in the days of Joiakim there were priests, heads of families: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah; | Ecco quali erano, al tempo di Joiakim, i capi di famiglie sacerdotali: della famiglia di Seraia, Meraia; di quella di Geremia, Hanania; |
| Of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan; | di quella d’Esdra, Meshullam; di quella d’Amaria, Johanan; |
| Of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph; | di quella di Melicu, Jonathan; di quella di Scebania, Giuseppe; |
| Of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai; | di quella di Harim, Adna; di quella di Meraioth, Helkai; |

| The Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were listed as heads of families; and the priests, when Darius the Persian was king. | Quanto ai Leviti, i capi famiglia furono iscritti al tempo di Eliascib, di Joiada, di Johanan e di Jaddua; e i sacerdoti, sotto il regno di Dario, il Persiano. |
| The sons of Levi, heads of families, were recorded in the book of the histories, even till the days of Johanan, the son of Eliashib. | I capi delle famiglie levitiche furono iscritti nel libro delle Cronache fino al tempo di Johanan, figliuolo di Eliascib. |
| And the chiefs of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua, the son of Kadmiel, with their brothers opposite them, to give blessing and praise as ordered by David, the man of God, watch against watch. | I capi dei Leviti Hashabia, Scerebia, Jeshua, figliuolo di Kadmiel, e i loro fratelli s’alternavano con essi per lodare e celebrare l’Eterno, conforme all’ordine di Davide, uomo di Dio, per mute, secondo il loro turno. |
| Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were door-keepers keeping the watch at the store-houses of the doors. | Mattania, Bakbukia, Obadia, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub erano portinai, e facevan la guardia ai magazzini delle porte. |
| These were in the days of Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the ruler and of Ezra the priest, the scribe. | Questi vivevano al tempo di Joiakim, figliuolo di Jeshua, figliuolo di Jotsadak e al tempo di Nehemia, il governatore, e di Esdra, sacerdote e scriba. |
| And when the time came for the wall of Jerusalem to be made holy, they sent for the Levites out of all their places to come to Jerusalem, to keep the feast with joy, and with praise and melody, with brass and corded instruments of music. | Alla dedicazione delle mura di Gerusalemme si mandarono a cercare i Leviti di tutti i luoghi dov’erano, per farli venire a Gerusalemme affin di fare la dedicazione con gioia, con laudi e cantici e suon di cembali, saltèri e cetre. |
| And the sons of the music-makers came together from the lowland round about Jerusalem and from the daughter-towns of the Netophathites, | E i figliuoli de’ cantori si radunarono dal distretto intorno a Gerusalemme, dai villaggi dei Netofathiti, |
| And from Beth-gilgal and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the music-makers had made daughter-towns for themselves round about Jerusalem. | da Beth-Ghilgal e dal territorio di Gheba e d’Azmaveth; poiché i cantori s’erano edificati de’ villaggi ne’ dintorni di Gerusalemme. |
| And the priests and the Levites made themselves clean; and they made the people clean, and the doorways and the wall. | I sacerdoti e i Leviti si purificarono e purificarono il popolo, le porte e le mura. |
| Then I made the rulers of Judah come up on the wall, and I put in position two great bands of them who gave praise, walking in ordered lines; one went to the right on the wall, in the direction of the doorway where the waste was put; | Poi io feci salire sulle mura i capi di Giuda, e formai due grandi cori coi relativi cortei. Il primo s’incamminò dal lato destro, sulle mura, verso la porta del Letame; |
| And after them went Hoshaiah and half of the rulers of Judah, | e dietro questo coro camminavano Hoshaia, la metà dei capi di Giuda, |
| And Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam, | Azaria, Esdra, Meshullam, Giuda, |
| Judah and Benjamin and Shemaiah and Jeremiah, | Beniamino, Scemaia, Geremia, |
| And certain of the priests' sons with wind instruments; Zechariah, the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph, | dei figliuoli di sacerdoti con le trombe. Zaccaria, figliuolo di Jonathan, figliuolo di Scemaia, figliuolo di Mattania, figliuolo di Micaia, figliuolo di Zaccur, figliuolo d’Asaf, |
| And his brothers, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel and Judah, Hanani, with the music-instruments of David, the man of God; and Ezra the scribe was at their head; | e i suoi fratelli Scemaia, Azareel, Milalai, Ghilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, Giuda, Hanani, con gli strumenti musicali di Davide, uomo di Dio. Esdra, lo scriba, camminava alla loro testa. |
| And by the doorway of the fountain and straight in front of them, they went up by the steps of the town of David, at the slope up of the wall, over the house of David, as far as the water-doorway to the east. | Giunti che furono alla porta della Sorgente, montarono, dirimpetto a loro la scalinata della città di Davide, là dove le mura salgono al disopra del livello della casa di Davide, e giunsero alla porta delle Acque, a oriente. |
| And the other band of those who gave praise went to the left, and I went after them with half the people, on the wall, over the tower of the ovens, as far as the wide wall; | Il secondo coro s’incamminò nel senso opposto; e io gli andavo dietro, con l’altra metà del popolo, sopra le mura. Passando al disopra della torre de’ Forni, esso andò fino alle mura larghe; |
| And over the doorway of Ephraim and by the old door and the fish door and the tower of Hananel and the tower of Hammeah, as far as the sheep door: and at the doorway of the watchmen they came to a stop. | poi al disopra della porta d’Efraim, della porta Vecchia, della porta dei Pesci, della torre di Hananeel, della torre di Mea, fino alla porta delle Pecore; e il coro si fermò alla porta della Prigione. |
| So the two bands of those who gave praise took up their positions in the house of God, and I and half of the chiefs with me: | I due cori si fermarono nella casa di Dio; e così feci io, con la metà de’ magistrati ch’era meco, |
| And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with wind instruments; | e i sacerdoti Eliakim, Maaseia, Miniamin, Micaia, Elioenai, Zaccaria, Hanania con le trombe, |
| And Maaseiah and Shemaiah and Eleazar and Uzzi and Jehohanan and Malchijah and Elam and Ezer. And the makers of melody made their voices loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer. | e Maaseia, Scemaia, Eleazar, Uzzi Johanan, Malkija, Elam, Ezer. E i cantori fecero risonar forte le loro voci, diretti da Izrahia. |
| And on that day they made great offerings and were glad; for God had made them glad with great joy; and the women and the children were glad with them: so that the joy of Jerusalem came to the ears of those who were far off. | In quel giorno il popolo offrì numerosi sacrifizi, e si rallegrò perché Iddio gli avea concesso una gran gioia. Anche le donne e i fanciulli si rallegrarono; e la gioia di Gerusalemme si sentiva di lontano. |
| And on that day certain men were put over the rooms where the things which had been given were stored, for the lifted offerings and the first-fruits and the tenths, and to take into them the amounts, from the fields of every town, fixed by the law for the priests and the Levites: for Judah was glad on account of the priests and the Levites who were in their places. | In quel tempo, degli uomini furon preposti alle stanze che servivan da magazzini delle offerte, delle primizie e delle decime, onde vi raccogliessero dai contadi delle città le parti assegnate dalla legge ai sacerdoti e ai Leviti; poiché i Giudei gioivano a vedere i sacerdoti ed i Leviti ai loro posti; |
| And they kept the watch of their God, and were responsible for making things clean, and so did the music-makers and the door-keepers, as it was ordered by David and Solomon his son. | e questi osservavano ciò che si riferiva al servizio del loro Dio e alle purificazioni; come facevano, dal canto loro, i cantori e i portinai conforme all’ordine di Davide e di Salomone suo figliuolo. |
| For in the days of David and Asaph in the past, there was a master of the music, and songs of blessing and praise to God. | Poiché, anticamente, al tempo di Davide e di Asaf v’erano de’ capi de’ cantori e de’ canti di laude e di azioni di grazie a Dio. |
| And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave what was needed by the music-makers and the door-keepers day by day: and they made the offerings holy for the Levites; and the Levites did the same for the sons of Aaron. | Tutto Israele, al tempo di Zorobabele e di Nehemia, dava giorno per giorno le porzioni assegnate ai cantori ed ai portinai; dava ai Leviti le cose consacrate, e i Leviti davano ai figliuoli d’Aaronne le cose consacrate che loro spettavano. |
