| Wisdom is building her house, but the foolish woman is pulling it down with her hands. | La donna savia edifica la sua casa, ma la stolta l’abbatte con le proprie mani. |
| He who goes on his way in righteousness has before him the fear of the Lord; but he whose ways are twisted gives him no honour. | Chi cammina nella rettitudine teme l’Eterno, ma chi è pervertito nelle sue vie lo sprezza. |
| In the mouth of the foolish man is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will keep them safe. | Nella bocca dello stolto germoglia la superbia, ma le labbra dei savi son la loro custodia. |
| Where there are no oxen, their food-place is clean; but much increase comes through the strength of the ox. | Dove mancano i buoi è vuoto il granaio, ma l’abbondanza della raccolta sta nella forza del bove. |

| He who has no respect for his neighbour is a sinner, but he who has pity for the poor is happy. | Chi sprezza il prossimo pecca, ma beato chi ha pietà dei miseri! |
| Will not the designers of evil come into error? But mercy and good faith are for the designers of good. | Quelli che meditano il male non son forse traviati? ma quelli che meditano il bene trovan grazia e fedeltà. |
| In all hard work there is profit, but talk only makes a man poor. | In ogni fatica v’è profitto, ma il chiacchierare mena all’indigenza. |
| Their wisdom is a crown to the wise, but their foolish behaviour is round the head of the unwise. | La corona de’ savi è la loro ricchezza, ma la follia degli stolti non è che follia. |
| A true witness is the saviour of lives; but he who says false things is a cause of deceit. | Il testimonio verace salva delle vite, ma chi spaccia bugie non fa che ingannare. |
| For him in whose heart is the fear of the Lord there is strong hope: and his children will have a safe place. | V’è una gran sicurezza nel timor dell’Eterno; Egli sarà un rifugio per i figli di chi lo teme. |
| The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, by which one may be turned from the nets of death. | Il timor dell’Eterno è fonte di vita e fa schivare le insidie della morte. |
