Ezra 4	Esdras 4
Ezra 4:1 Now news came to the haters of Judah and Benjamin that the people who had come back were building a Temple to the Lord, the God of Israel;	Esdras 4:1 Y Oyendo los enemigos de Judá y de Benjamín, que los venidos de la cautividad edificaban el templo de Jehová Dios de Israel,
Ezra 4:2 Then they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of families, and said to them, Let us take part in the building with you; for we are servants of your God, even as you are; and we have been making offerings to him from the days of Esar-haddon, king of Assyria, who put us here.	Esdras 4:2 Llegáronse á Zorobabel, y á los cabezas de los padres, y dijéronles: Edificaremos con vosotros, porque como vosotros buscaremos á vuestro Dios, y á él sacrificamos desde los días de Esar-haddón rey de Asiria, que nos hizo subir aquí.
Ezra 4:3 But Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of the heads of families in Israel said to them, You have no part with us in the building of a house for our God; we ourselves will do the work together for the Lord, the God of Israel, as Cyrus, king of Persia, has given us orders.	Esdras 4:3 Y dijóles Zorobabel, y Jesuá, y los demás cabezas de los padres de Israel: No nos conviene edificar con vosotros casa á nuestro Dios, sino que nosotros solos la edificaremos á Jehová Dios de Israel, como nos mandó el rey Ciro, rey de Persia.
Ezra 4:4 Then the people of the land made the hands of the people of Judah feeble, troubling them with fear in their building;	Esdras 4:4 Mas el pueblo de la tierra debilitaba las manos del pueblo de Judá, y los arredraban de edificar.
Ezra 4:5 And they gave payment to men who made designs against them and kept them from effecting their purpose, all through the time of Cyrus, king of Persia, till Darius became king.	Esdras 4:5 Cohecharon además contra ellos consejeros para disipar su consejo, todo el tiempo de Ciro rey de Persia, y hasta el reinado de Darío rey de Persia.
Ezra 4:6 And in the time of Ahasuerus, when he first became king, they put on record a statement against the people of Judah and Jerusalem.	Esdras 4:6 Y en el reinado de Assuero, en el principio de su reinado, escribieron acusaciones contra los moradores de Judá y de Jerusalem.
Ezra 4:7 And in the time of Artaxerxes, Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his friends, sent a letter to Artaxerxes, king of Persia, writing it in the Aramaean writing and language.	Esdras 4:7 Y en días de Artajerjes, Bislam, Mitrídates, Tabeel, y los demás sus compañeros, escribieron á Artajerjes rey de Persia; y la escritura de la carta estaba hecha en siriaco, y declarada en siriaco.
Ezra 4:8 Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe, sent a letter against Jerusalem, to Artaxerxes the king;	Esdras 4:8 Rehum canciller, y Simsai secretario, escribieron una carta contra Jerusalem al rey Artajerjes, como se sigue.
Ezra 4:9 The letter was sent by Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe and their friends; the Dinaites and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,	Esdras 4:9 Entonces Rehum canciller, y Simsai secretario, y los demás sus compañeros, los Dineos, y los Apharsathachêos, Thepharleos, Apharseos, los Erchûeos, los Babilonios, Susaschêos, Dieveos, y Elamitas;
Ezra 4:10 And the rest of the nations which the great and noble Osnappar took over and put in Samaria and the rest of the country over the river:	Esdras 4:10 Y los demás pueblos que el grande y glorioso Asnappar trasportó, é hizo habitar en las ciudades de Samaria, y los demás de la otra parte del río, etcétera, escribieron.
Ezra 4:11 This is a copy of the letter which they sent to Artaxerxes the king: Your servants living across the river send these words:	Esdras 4:11 Este es el traslado de la carta que enviaron: Al rey Artajerjes: Tus siervos de otra la parte del río, etcétera.
Ezra 4:12 We give news to the king that the Jews who came from you have come to us at Jerusalem; they are building up again that uncontrolled and evil town; the walls are complete and they are joining up the bases.	Esdras 4:12 Sea notorio al rey, que los Judíos que subieron de tí á nosotros, vinieron á Jerusalem; y edifican la ciudad rebelde y mala, y han erigido los muros; y compuesto los fundamentos.
Ezra 4:13 The king may be certain that when the building of this town and its walls is complete, they will give no tax or payment in goods or forced payments, and in the end it will be a cause of loss to the kings.	Esdras 4:13 Ahora, notorio sea al rey, que si aquella ciudad fuere reedificada, y los muros fueren establecidos, el tributo, pecho, y rentas no darán, y el catastro de lo reyes será menoscabado.
Ezra 4:14 Now because we are responsible to the king, and it is not right for us to see the king's honour damaged, we have sent to give the king word of these things,	Esdras 4:14 Ya pues que estamos mantenidos de palacio, no nos es justo ver el menosprecio del rey: hemos enviado por tanto, y hécho lo saber al rey,
Ezra 4:15 So that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: and you will see in the book of the records that this town has been uncontrolled, and a cause of trouble to kings and countries, and that there were outbursts against authority there in the past: for which reason the town was made waste.	Esdras 4:15 Para que busque en el libro de las historias de nuestros padres; y hallarás en el libro de las historias, y sabrás que esta ciudad es ciudad rebelde, y perjudicial á los reyes y á las provincias, y que de tiempo antiguo forman en medio de ella rebeliones; por lo que esta ciudad fué destruída.
Ezra 4:16 We give you word, that if the building of this town and its walls is made complete, there will be an end of your power in the country across the river.	Esdras 4:16 Hacemos saber al rey, que si esta ciudad fuere edificada, y erigidos sus muros, la parte allá del río no será tuya.
Ezra 4:17 Then the king sent an answer to Rehum, the chief ruler, and Shimshai the scribe, and their friends living in Samaria, and to the rest of those across the river, saying, Peace to you:	Esdras 4:17 El rey envió esta respuesta á Rehum canciller, y á Simsai secretario, y á los demás sus compañeros que habitan en Samaria, y á los demás de la parte allá del río: Paz, etc.
Ezra 4:18 And now the sense of the letter which you sent to us has been made clear to me,	Esdras 4:18 La carta que nos enviasteis claramente fué leída delante de mí.
Ezra 4:19 And I gave orders for a search to be made, and it is certain that in the past this town has made trouble for kings, and that outbursts against authority have taken place there.	Esdras 4:19 Y por mí fué dado mandamiento, y buscaron; y hallaron que aquella ciudad de tiempo antiguo se levanta contra los reyes, y se rebela, y se forma en ella sedición:
Ezra 4:20 Further, there have been great kings in Jerusalem, ruling over all the country across the river, to whom they gave taxes and payments in goods and forced payments.	Esdras 4:20 Y que reyes fuertes hubo en Jerusalem, quienes señorearon en todo lo que está á la parte allá del río; y que tributo, y pecho, y rentas se les daba.
Ezra 4:21 Give an order now, that these men are to do nothing more, and that the building of the town is to be stopped, till I give an order.	Esdras 4:21 Ahora pues dad orden que cesen aquellos hombres, y no sea esa ciudad edificada, hasta que por mí sea dado mandamiento.
Ezra 4:22 Be certain to do this with all care: do not let trouble be increased to the king's damage.	Esdras 4:22 Y mirad bien que no hagáis error en esto: ¿por qué habrá de crecer el daño para perjuicio de los reyes?
Ezra 4:23 Then, after reading the king's letter, Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their friends went quickly to Jerusalem, to the Jews, and had them stopped by force.	Esdras 4:23 Entonces, cuando el traslado de la carta del rey Artajerjes fué leído delante de Rehum, y de Simsai secretario, y sus compañeros, fueron prestamente á Jerusalem á los Judíos, é hiciéronles cesar con poder y fuerza.
Ezra 4:24 So the work of the house of God at Jerusalem came to an end; so it was stopped, till the second year of the rule of Darius, king of Persia.	Esdras 4:24 Cesó entonces la obra de la casa de Dios, la cual estaba en Jerusalem: y cesó hasta el año segundo del reinado de Darío rey de Persia.
