| And at nightfall the two angels came to Sodom; and Lot was seated at the way into the town: and when he saw them he got up and came before them, falling down on his face to the earth. | Llegaron, pues, los dos ángeles á Sodoma á la caída de la tarde: y Lot estaba sentado á la puerta de Sodoma. Y viéndolos Lot, levantóse á recibirlos, é inclinóse hacia el suelo; |
| And he said, My masters, come now into your servant's house and take your rest there for the night, and let your feet be washed; and early in the morning you may go on your way. And they said, Not so, but we will take our night's rest in the street. | Y dijo: Ahora, pues, mis señores, os ruego que vengáis á casa de vuestro siervo y os hospedéis, y lavaréis vuestros pies: y por la mañana os levantaréis, y seguiréis vuestro camino. Y ellos respondieron: No, que en la plaza nos quedaremos esta noche. |
| But he made his request more strongly, so they went with him into his house; and he got food ready for them, and made unleavened bread, of which they took. | Mas él porfió con ellos mucho, y se vinieron con él, y entraron en su casa; é hízoles banquete, y coció panes sin levadura y comieron. |
| But before they had gone to bed, the men of the town, all the men of Sodom, came round the house, young and old, from every part of the town; | Y antes que se acostasen, cercaron la casa los hombres de la ciudad, los varones de Sodoma, todo el pueblo junto, desde el más joven hasta el más viejo; |
| And crying out to Lot, they said, Where are the men who came to your house this night? Send them out to us, so that we may take our pleasure with them. | Y llamaron á Lot, y le dijeron: ¿Dónde están los varones que vinieron á ti esta noche? sácanoslos, para que los conozcamos. |
| And Lot went out to them in the doorway, shutting the door after him. | Entonces Lot salió á ellos á la puerta, y cerró las puertas tras sí, |
| And he said, My brothers, do not this evil. | Y dijo: Os ruego, hermanos míos, que no hagáis tal maldad. |
| See now, I have two unmarried daughters; I will send them out to you so that you may do to them whatever seems good to you: only do nothing to these men, for this is why they have come under the shade of my roof. | He aquí ahora yo tengo dos hijas que no han conocido varón; os las sacaré afuera, y haced de ellas como bien os pareciere: solamente á estos varones no hagáis nada, pues que vinieron á la sombra de mi tejado. |
| And they said, Give way there. This one man, they said, came here from a strange country, and will he now be our judge? now we will do worse to you than to them; and pushing violently against Lot, they came near to get the door broken in. | Y ellos respondieron: Quita allá: y añadieron: Vino éste aquí para habitar como un extraño, ¿y habrá de erigirse en juez? Ahora te haremos más mal que á ellos. Y hacían gran violencia al varón, á Lot, y se acercaron para romper las puertas. |
| But the men put out their hands and took Lot into the house to them, shutting the door again. | Entonces los varones alargaron la mano, y metieron á Lot en casa con ellos, y cerraron las puertas. |
| But the men who were outside the door they made blind, all of them, small and great, so that they were tired out with looking for the door. | Y á los hombres que estaban á la puerta de la casa desde el menor hasta el mayor, hirieron con ceguera; mas ellos se fatigaban por hallar la puerta. |
| Then the men said to Lot, Are there any others of your family here? sons-in-law or sons or daughters, take them all out of this place; | Y dijeron los varones á Lot: ¿Tienes aquí alguno más? Yernos, y tus hijos y tus hijas, y todo lo que tienes en la ciudad, sácalo de este lugar: |
| For we are about to send destruction on this place, because a great outcry against them has come to the ears of the Lord; and the Lord has sent us to put an end to the town. | Porque vamos á destruir este lugar, por cuanto el clamor de ellos ha subido de punto delante de Jehová; por tanto Jehová nos ha enviado para destruirlo. |
| And Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were married to his daughters, Come, let us go out of this place, for the Lord is about to send destruction on the town. But his sons-in-law did not take him seriously. | Entonces salió Lot, y habló á sus yernos, los que habían de tomar sus hijas, y les dijo: Levantaos, salid de este lugar; porque Jehová va á destruir esta ciudad. Mas pareció á sus yernos como que se burlaba. |
| And when morning came, the angels did all in their power to make Lot go, saying, Get up quickly and take your wife and your two daughters who are here, and go, for fear that you come to destruction in the punishment of the town. | Y al rayar el alba, los ángeles daban prisa á Lot, diciendo: Levántate, toma tu mujer, y tus dos hijas que se hallan aquí, porque no perezcas en el castigo de la ciudad. |
| But while he was waiting, the men took him and his wife and his daughters by the hand, for the Lord had mercy on them, and put them outside the town. | Y deteniéndose él, los varones asieron de su mano, y de la mano de su mujer, y de las manos de sus dos hijas según la misericordia de Jehová para con él; y le sacaron, y le pusieron fuera de la ciudad. |
| And when they had put them out, he said, Go for your life, without looking back or waiting in the lowland; go quickly to the mountain or you will come to destruction. | Y fué que cuando los hubo sacado fuera, dijo: Escapa por tu vida; no mires tras ti, ni pares en toda esta llanura; escapa al monte, no sea que perezcas. |
| And Lot said to them, Not so, O my Lord; | Y Lot les dijo: No, yo os ruego, señores míos; |
| See now, your servant has had grace in your eyes and great is your mercy in keeping my life from destruction, but I am not able to get as far as the mountain before evil overtakes me and death; | He aquí ahora ha hallado tu siervo gracia en tus ojos, y has engrandecido tu misericordia que has hecho conmigo dándome la vida; mas yo no podré escapar al monte, no sea caso que me alcance el mal y muera. |
| This town, now, is near, and it is a little one: O, let me go there (is it not a little one?) so that my life may be safe. | He aquí ahora esta ciudad está cerca para huir allá, la cual es pequeña; escaparé ahora allá, (¿no es ella pequeña?) y vivirá mi alma. |
| And he said, See, I have given you your request in this one thing more: I will not send destruction on this town. | Y le respondió: He aquí he recibido también tu súplica sobre esto, y no destruiré la ciudad de que has hablado. |
| Go there quickly, for I am not able to do anything till you have come there. For this reason, the town was named Zoar. | Date priesa, escápate allá; porque nada podré hacer hasta que allí hayas llegado. Por esto fué llamado el nombre de la ciudad, Zoar. |
| The sun was up when Lot came to Zoar. | El sol salía sobre la tierra, cuando Lot llegó á Zoar. |
| Then the Lord sent fire and flaming smoke raining down from heaven on Sodom and Gomorrah. | Entonces llovió Jehová sobre Sodoma y sobre Gomorra azufre y fuego de parte de Jehová desde los cielos; |
| And he sent destruction on those towns, with all the lowland and all the people of those towns and every green thing in the land. | Y destruyó las ciudades, y toda aquella llanura, con todos los moradores de aquellas ciudades, y el fruto de la tierra. |
| But Lot's wife, looking back, became a pillar of salt. | Entonces la mujer de Lot miró atrás, á espaldas de él, y se volvió estatua de sal. |
| And Abraham got up early in the morning and went to the place where he had been talking with the Lord: | Y subió Abraham por la mañana al lugar donde había estado delante de Jehová: |
| And looking in the direction of Sodom and Gomorrah and the lowland, he saw the smoke of the land going up like the smoke of an oven. | Y miró hacia Sodoma y Gomorra, y hacia toda la tierra de aquella llanura miró; y he aquí que el humo subía de la tierra como el humo de un horno. |
| So it came about that when God sent destruction on the towns of the lowland, he kept his word to Abraham, and sent Lot safely away when he put an end to the towns where he was living. | Así fué que, cuando destruyó Dios las ciudades de la llanura, acordóse Dios de Abraham, y envió fuera á Lot de en medio de la destrucción, al asolar las ciudades donde Lot estaba. |
| Then Lot went up out of Zoar to the mountain, and was living there with his two daughters, for fear kept him from living in Zoar: and he and his daughters made their living-place in a hole in the rock. | Empero Lot subió de Zoar, y asentó en el monte, y sus dos hijas con él; porque tuvo miedo de quedar en Zoar, y se alojó en una cueva él y sus dos hijas. |
| And the older daughter said to her sister, Our father is old, and there is no man to be a husband to us in the natural way: | Entonces la mayor dijo á la menor: Nuestro padre es viejo, y no queda varón en la tierra que entre á nosotras conforme á la costumbre de toda la tierra: |
| Come, let us give our father much wine, and we will go into his bed, so that we may have offspring by our father, | Ven, demos á beber vino á nuestro padre, y durmamos con él, y conservaremos de nuestro padre generación. |
| And that night they made their father take much wine; and the older daughter went into his bed; and he had no knowledge of when she went in or when she went away. | Y dieron á beber vino á su padre aquella noche: y entró la mayor, y durmió con su padre; mas él no sintió cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó. |
| And on the day after, the older daughter said to the younger, Last night I was with my father; let us make him take much wine this night again, and do you go to him, so that we may have offspring by our father. | El día siguiente dijo la mayor á la menor: He aquí yo dormí la noche pasada con mi padre; démosle á beber vino también esta noche, y entra y duerme con él, para que conservemos de nuestro padre generación. |
| And that night again they made their father take much wine; and the younger daughter went into his bed; and he had no knowledge of when she went in or when she went away. | Y dieron á beber vino á su padre también aquella noche: y levantóse la menor, y durmió con él; pero no echó de ver cuándo se acostó ella, ni cuándo se levantó. |
| And so the two daughters of Lot were with child by their father. | Y concibieron las dos hijas de Lot, de su padre. |
| And the older daughter had a son, and she gave him the name Moab: he is the father of the Moabites to this day. | Y parió la mayor un hijo, y llamó su nombre Moab, el cual es padre de los Moabitas hasta hoy. |
| And the younger had a son and gave him the name Ben-ammi: from him come the children of Ammon to this day. | La menor también parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Ben-ammí, el cual es padre de los Ammonitas hasta hoy. |
