| ENTONCES llegaron á Jesús ciertos escribas y Fariseos de Jerusalem, diciendo: | Then there came to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying, |
| ¿Por qué tus discípulos traspasan la tradición de los ancianos? porque no se lavan las manos cuando comen pan. | Why do your disciples go against the teaching of the fathers? for they take food with unwashed hands. |
| Y él respondiendo, les dijo: ¿Por qué también vosotros traspasáis el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición? | And in answer he said to them, Why do you, yourselves, go against the word of God on account of the teaching which has been handed down to you? |
| Porque Dios mandó, diciendo: Honra al padre y á la madre, y, El que maldijere al padre ó á la madre, muera de muerte. | For God said, Give honour to your father and mother: and, He who says evil of father or mother will be put to death. |
| Mas vosotros decís: Cualquiera que dijere al padre ó á la madre: Es ya ofrenda mía á Dios todo aquello con que pudiera valerte; | But you say, If a man says to his father or his mother, That by which you might have had profit from me is given to God; |
| No deberá honrar á su padre ó á su madre con socorro. Así habéis invalidado el mandamiento de Dios por vuestra tradición. | There is no need for him to give honour to his father. And you have made the word of God without effect because of your teaching. |
| Hipócritas, bien profetizó de vosotros Isaías, diciendo: | You false ones, well did Isaiah say of you, |
| Este pueblo de labios me honra; Mas su corazón lejos está de mí. | These people give me honour with their lips, but their heart is far from me. |
| Mas en vano me honran, Enseñando doctrinas y mandamientos de hombres. | But their worship is to no purpose, while they give as their teaching the rules of men. |
| Y llamando á sí las gentes, les dijo: Oid, y entended: | And he got the people together and said to them, Give ear, and let my words be clear to you: |
| No lo que entra en la boca contamina al hombre; mas lo que sale de la boca, esto contamina al hombre. | Not that which goes into the mouth makes a man unclean, but that which comes out of the mouth. |
| Entonces llegándose sus discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Sabes que los Fariseos oyendo esta palabra se ofendieron? | Then the disciples came and said to him, Did you see that the Pharisees were troubled when these words came to their ears? |
| Mas respondiendo él, dijo: Toda planta que no plantó mi Padre celestial, será desarraigada. | But he said in answer, Every plant which my Father in heaven has not put in the earth, will be taken up by the roots. |
| Dejadlos: son ciegos guías de ciegos; y si el ciego guiare al ciego, ambos caerán en el hoyo. | Let them be: they are blind guides. And if a blind man is guiding a blind man, the two will go falling into a hole together. |
| Y respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Decláranos esta parábola. | Then Peter said to him, Make the story clear to us. |
| Y Jesús dijo: ¿Aun también vosotros sois sin entendimiento? | And he said, Are you, like them, still without wisdom? |
| ¿No entendéis aún, que todo lo que entra en la boca, va al vientre, y es echado en la letrina? | Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth goes on into the stomach, and is sent out as waste? |
| Mas lo que sale de la boca, del corazón sale; y esto contamina al hombre. | But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart; and they make a man unclean. |
| Porque del corazón salen los malos pensamientos, muertes, adulterios, fornicaciones, hurtos, falsos testimonios, blasfemias. | For out of the heart come evil thoughts, the taking of life, broken faith between the married, unclean desires of the flesh, taking of property, false witness, bitter words: |
| Estas cosas son las que contaminan al hombre: que comer con las manos por lavar no contamina al hombre. | These are the things which make a man unclean; but to take food with unwashed hands does not make a man unclean. |
| Y saliendo Jesús de allí, se fué á las partes de Tiro y de Sidón. | And Jesus went away from there into the country of Tyre and Sidon. |
| Y he aquí una mujer Cananea, que había salido de aquellos términos, clamaba, diciéndole: Señor, Hijo de David, ten misericordia de mí; mi hija es malamente atormentada del demonio. | And a woman of Canaan came out from those parts, crying and saying, Have pity on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is greatly troubled with an unclean spirit. |
| Mas él no le respondió palabra. Entonces llegándose sus discípulos, le rogaron, diciendo: Despáchala, pues da voces tras nosotros. | But he gave her no answer. And his disciples came and said to him, Send her away, for she is crying after us. |
| Y él respondiendo, dijo: No soy enviado sino á las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel. | But he made answer and said, I was sent only to the wandering sheep of the house of Israel. |
| Entonces ella vino, y le adoró, diciendo: Señor socórreme. | But she came and gave him worship, saying, Help, Lord. |
| Y respondiendo él, dijo: No es bien tomar el pan de los hijos, y echarlo á los perrillos. | And he made answer and said, It is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs. |
| Y ella dijo: Sí, Señor; mas los perrillos comen de las migajas que caen de la mesa de sus señores. | But she said, Yes, Lord: but even the dogs take the bits from under their masters' table. |
| Entonces respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Oh mujer, grande es tu fe; sea hecho contigo como quieres. Y fué sana su hija desde aquella hora. | Then Jesus, answering, said to her, O woman, great is your faith: let your desire be done. And her daughter was made well from that hour. |
| Y partido Jesús de allí, vino junto al mar de Galilea: y subiendo al monte, se sentó allí. | And Jesus went from there and came to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and took his seat there. |
| Y llegaron á él muchas gentes, que tenían consigo cojos, ciegos, mudos, mancos, y otros muchos enfermos: y los echaron á los pies de Jesús, y los sanó: | And there came to him great numbers of people having with them those who were broken in body, or blind, or without voice, or wounded, or ill in any way, and a number of others; they put them down at his feet and he made them well: |
| De manera que se maravillaban las gentes, viendo hablar los mudos, los mancos sanos, andar los cojos, y ver los ciegos: y glorificaron al Dios de Israel. | So that the people were full of wonder when they saw that those who had no voice were talking, the feeble were made strong, those whose bodies were broken had the power of walking, and the blind were able to see: and they gave glory to the God of Israel. |
| Y Jesús llamando á sus discípulos, dijo: Tengo lástima de la gente, que ya hace tres días que perseveran conmigo, y no tienen qué comer; y enviarlos ayunos no quiero, porque no desmayen en el camino. | And Jesus got his disciples together and said, I have pity for the people, because they have now been with me three days and have no food: and I will not send them away without food, or they will have no strength for the journey. |
| Entonces sus discípulos le dicen: ¿Dónde tenemos nosotros tantos panes en el desierto, que hartemos á tan gran compañía? | And the disciples say to him, How may we get enough bread in a waste place, to give food to such a number of people? |
| Y Jesús les dice: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete, y unos pocos pececillos. | And Jesus says to them, How much bread have you? And they said, Seven cakes, and some small fishes. |
| Y mandó á las gentes que se recostasen sobre la tierra. | Then he gave an order to the people to be seated on the earth, |
| Y tomando los siete panes y los peces, haciendo gracias, partió y dió á sus discípulos; y los discípulos á la gente. | And he took the seven cakes of bread and the fishes; and having given praise, he gave the broken bread to the disciples, and the disciples gave it to the people. |
| Y comieron todos, y se hartaron: y alzaron lo que sobró de los pedazos, siete espuertas llenas. | And they all took food, and had enough; and they took up of the broken bits, seven baskets full. |
| Y eran los que habían comido, cuatro mil hombres, sin las mujeres y los niños. | And there were four thousand men who took food, together with women and children. |
| Entonces, despedidas las gentes, subió en el barco: y vino á los términos de Magdalá. | And when he had sent the people away, he got into the boat, and came into the country of Magadan. |
