EL peso falso abominación es á Jehová: Mas la pesa cabal le agrada. | Scales of deceit are hated by the Lord, but a true weight is his delight. |
Cuando viene la soberbia, viene también la deshonra: Mas con los humildes es la sabiduría. | When pride comes, there comes shame, but wisdom is with the quiet in spirit. |
La integridad de los rectos los encaminará: Mas destruirá á los pecadores la perversidad de ellos. | The righteousness of the upright will be their guide, but the twisted ways of the false will be their destruction. |
No aprovecharán las riquezas en el día de la ira: Mas la justicia librará de muerte. | Wealth is of no profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness keeps a man safe from death. |
La justicia del perfecto enderezará su camino: mas el impío por su impiedad caerá. | The righteousness of the good man will make his way straight, but the sin of the evil-doer will be the cause of his fall. |
La justicia de los rectos los librará: Mas los pecadores en su pecado serán presos. | The righteousness of the upright will be their salvation, but the false will themselves be taken in their evil designs. |
Cuando muere el hombre impío, perece su esperanza; Y la espectativa de los malos perecerá. | At the death of an upright man his hope does not come to an end, but the hope of the evil-doer comes to destruction. |
El justo es librado de la tribulación: Mas el impío viene en lugar suyo. | The upright man is taken out of trouble, and in his place comes the sinner. |
El hipócrita con la boca daña á su prójimo: Mas los justos son librados con la sabiduría. | With his mouth the evil man sends destruction on his neighbour; but through knowledge the upright are taken out of trouble. |
En el bien de los justos la ciudad se alegra: Mas cuando los impíos perecen, hay fiestas. | When things go well for the upright man, all the town is glad; at the death of sinners, there are cries of joy. |
Por la bendición de los rectos la ciudad será engrandecida: Mas por la boca de los impíos ella será trastornada. | By the blessing of the upright man the town is made great, but it is overturned by the mouth of the evil-doer. |
El que carece de entendimiento, menosprecia á su prójimo: Mas el hombre prudente calla. | He who has a poor opinion of his neighbour has no sense, but a wise man keeps quiet. |
El que anda en chismes, descubre el secreto: Mas el de espíritu fiel encubre la cosa. | He who goes about talking of others makes secrets public, but the true-hearted man keeps things covered. |
Cuando faltaren las industrias, caerá el pueblo: Mas en la multitud de consejeros hay salud. | When there is no helping suggestion the people will have a fall, but with a number of wise guides they will be safe. |
Con ansiedad será afligido el que fiare al extraño: Mas el que aborreciere las fianzas vivirá confiado. | He who makes himself responsible for a strange man will undergo much loss; but the hater of such undertakings will be safe. |
La mujer graciosa tendrá honra: Y los fuertes tendrán riquezas. | A woman who is full of grace is honoured, but a woman hating righteousness is a seat of shame: those hating work will undergo loss, but the strong keep their wealth. |
A su alma hace bien el hombre misericordioso: Mas el cruel atormenta su carne. | The man who has mercy will be rewarded, but the cruel man is the cause of trouble to himself. |
El impío hace obra falsa: Mas el que sembrare justicia, tendrá galardón firme. | The sinner gets the payment of deceit; but his reward is certain who puts in the seed of righteousness. |
Como la justicia es para vida, Así el que sigue el mal es para su muerte. | So righteousness gives life; but he who goes after evil gets death for himself. |
Abominación son á Jehová los perversos de corazón: Mas los perfectos de camino le son agradables. | The uncontrolled are hated by the Lord, but those whose ways are without error are his delight |
Aunque llegue la mano á la mano, el malo no quedará sin castigo: Mas la simiente de los justos escapará. | Certainly the evil-doer will not go free from punishment, but the seed of the upright man will be safe. |
Zarcillo de oro en la nariz del puerco, Es la mujer hermosa y apartada de razón. | Like a ring of gold in the nose of a pig, is a beautiful woman who has no sense. |
El deseo de los justos es solamente bien: Mas la esperanza de los impíos es enojo. | The desire of the upright man is only for good, but wrath is waiting for the evil-doer. |
Hay quienes reparten, y les es añadido más: Y hay quienes son escasos más de lo que es justo, mas vienen á pobreza. | A man may give freely, and still his wealth will be increased; and another may keep back more than is right, but only comes to be in need. |
El alma liberal será engordada: Y el que saciare, él también será saciado. | He who gives blessing will be made fat, but the curser will himself be cursed. |
Al que retiene el grano, el pueblo lo maldecirá: Mas bendición será sobre la cabeza del que vende. | He who keeps back grain will be cursed by the people; but a blessing will be on the head of him who lets them have it for a price. |
El que madruga al bien, buscará favor: Mas el que busca el mal, vendrále. | He who, with all his heart, goes after what is good is searching for grace; but he who is looking for trouble will get it. |
El que confía en sus riquezas, caerá: Mas los justos reverdecerán como ramos. | He who puts his faith in wealth will come to nothing; but the upright man will be full of growth like the green leaf. |
El que turba su casa heredará viento; Y el necio será siervo del sabio de corazón. | The troubler of his house will have the wind for his heritage, and the foolish will be servant to the wise-hearted. |
El fruto del justo es árbol de vida: Y el que prende almas, es sabio. | The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life, but violent behaviour takes away souls. |
Ciertamente el justo será pagado en la tierra: ¡Cuánto más el impío y el pecador! | If the upright man is rewarded on earth, how much more the evil-doer and the sinner! |
