| Les chefs de famille des Lévites s`approchèrent du sacrificateur Éléazar, de Josué, fils de Nun, et des chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d`Israël. | Then the heads of the families of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel; |
| Ils leur parlèrent à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, et dirent: L`Éternel a ordonné par Moïse qu`on nous donnât des villes pour habitation, et leurs banlieues pour notre bétail. | And said to them in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, The Lord gave orders by Moses that we were to have towns for living in, with their grass-lands for our cattle. |
| Les enfants d`Israël donnèrent alors aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, les villes suivantes et leurs banlieues, d`après l`ordre de l`Éternel. | And the children of Israel out of their heritage gave to the Levites these towns with their grass-lands, by the order of the Lord. |
| On tira le sort pour les familles des Kehathites; et les Lévites, fils du sacrificateur Aaron, eurent par le sort treize villes de la tribu de Juda, de la tribu de Siméon et de la tribu de Benjamin; | And the heritage came out for the families of the Kohathites: the children of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin. |
| les autres fils de Kehath eurent par le sort dix villes des familles de la tribu d`Éphraïm, de la tribu de Dan et de la demi-tribu de Manassé. | The rest of the children of Kohath by their families were given ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim and Dan and the half-tribe of Manasseh. |
| Les fils de Guerschon eurent par le sort treize villes des familles de la tribu d`Issacar, de la tribu d`Aser, de la tribu de Nephthali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé en Basan. | The children of Gershon by their families were given thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar and Asher and Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh which was in Bashan. |
| Les fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, eurent douze villes de la tribu de Ruben, de la tribu de Gad et de la tribu de Zabulon. | The children of Merari by their families were given twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben and Gad and Zebulun. |
| Les enfants d`Israël donnèrent aux Lévites, par le sort, ces villes et leurs banlieues, comme l`Éternel l`avait ordonné par Moïse. | All these towns with their grass-lands the children of Israel gave by the decision of the Lord to the Levites, as the Lord had given orders by Moses. |
| Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes qui vont être nominativement désignées, | From the tribes of the children of Judah and the children of Simeon they gave these towns, listed here by name: |
| et qui furent pour les fils d`Aaron d`entre les familles des Kehathites et des fils de Lévi, car le sort les avait indiqués les premiers. | These were for the children of Aaron among the families of the Kohathites, of the children of Levi: for they came first in the distribution. |
| Ils leur donnèrent Kirjath Arba, qui est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda, et la banlieue qui l`entoure: Arba était le père d`Anak. | They gave them Kiriath-arba, the town of Arba, the father of Anak, (which is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah, with its grass-lands. |
| Le territoire de la ville et ses villages furent accordés à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, pour sa possession. | But the open country round the town, and its unwalled places, they gave to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, as his property. |
| Ils donnèrent donc aux fils du sacrificateur Aaron la ville de refuge pour les meurtriers, Hébron et sa banlieue, Libna et sa banlieue, | And to the children of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron with its grass-lands, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Libnah with its grass-lands; |

| Aïn et sa banlieue, Jutta et sa banlieue, et Beth Schémesch et sa banlieue, neuf villes de ces deux tribus; | And Ain, and Juttah, and Beth-shemesh, with their grass-lands; nine towns from those two tribes. |

| Total des villes des sacrificateurs, fils d`Aaron: treize villes, et leurs banlieues. | Thirteen towns with their grass-lands were given to the children of Aaron, the priests. |
| Les Lévites appartenant aux familles des autres fils de Kehath eurent par le sort des villes de la tribu d`Éphraïm. | The rest of the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, were given towns from the tribe of Ephraim. |
| On leur donna la ville de refuge pour les meurtriers, Sichem et sa banlieue, dans la montagne d`Éphraïm, Guézer et sa banlieue, | And they gave them Shechem with its grass-lands in the hill-country of Ephraim, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Gezer with its grass-lands; |
| Kibtsaïm et sa banlieue, et Beth Horon et sa banlieue, quatre villes; | And Kibzaim and Beth-horon with their grass-lands, four towns. |

| Ajalon et sa banlieue, et Gath Rimmon et sa banlieue, quatre villes; | Aijalon and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Thaanac et sa banlieue, et Gath Rimmon et sa banlieue, deux villes. | And from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach and Gath-rimmon with their grass-lands, two towns. |

| de la tribu de Ruben, Betser et sa banlieue, Jahtsa et sa banlieue, | And from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and Jahaz with their grass-lands; |
| Kedémoth et sa banlieue, et Méphaath et sa banlieue, quatre villes; | Kedemoth and Mephaath with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| et de la tribu de Gad, la ville de refuge pour les meurtriers, Ramoth en Galaad et sa banlieue, Mahanaïm et sa banlieue, | And from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, the town where the taker of life might be safe, and Mahanaim with their grass-lands; |
| Hesbon et sa banlieue, et Jaezer et sa banlieue, en tout quatre villes. | Heshbon and Jazer with their grass-lands, four towns. |
| Total des villes qui échurent par le sort aux fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, formant le reste des familles des Lévites: douze villes. | All these towns were given to the children of Merari by their families, that is, the rest of the families of the Levites; and their heritage was twelve towns. |
| Total des villes des Lévites au milieu des propriétés des enfants d`Israël: quarante-huit villes, et leurs banlieues. | All the towns of the Levites, among the heritage of the children of Israel, were forty-eight towns with their grass-lands. |
| Chacune de ces villes avait sa banlieue qui l`entourait; il en était de même pour toutes ces villes. | Every one of these towns had grass-lands round it. |
| C`est ainsi que l`Éternel donna à Israël tout le pays qu`il avait juré de donner à leurs pères; ils en prirent possession et s`y établirent. | So the Lord gave to Israel all the land which he gave by oath to their fathers; so it became their heritage and their living-place. |
| L`Éternel leur accorda du repos tout alentour, comme il l`avait juré à leurs pères; aucun de leurs ennemis ne put leur résister, et l`Éternel les livra tous entre leurs mains. | And the Lord gave them peace on every side, as he had said to their fathers: all those who were against them gave way before them, for the Lord gave them all up into their hands. |
| De toutes les bonnes paroles que l`Éternel avait dites à la maison d`Israël, aucune ne resta sans effet: toutes s`accomplirent. | The Lord kept faith with the house of Israel about all the good which he said he would do for them, and all his words came true. |
