Luke 23

Luc 23:1 ^
Ils se levèrent tous, et ils conduisirent Jésus devant Pilate.
Luke 23:1 ^
And they all went and took him before Pilate.
Luc 23:2 ^
Ils se mirent à l`accuser, disant: Nous avons trouvé cet homme excitant notre nation à la révolte, empêchant de payer le tribut à César, et se disant lui-même Christ, roi.
Luke 23:2 ^
And they made statements against him, saying, This man has to our knowledge been teaching our nation to do wrong, and not to make payment of taxes to Caesar, even saying that he himself is Christ, a king.
Luc 23:3 ^
Pilate l`interrogea, en ces termes: Es-tu le roi des Juifs? Jésus lui répondit: Tu le dis.
Luke 23:3 ^
And Pilate said to him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he said in answer, You say so.
Luc 23:4 ^
Pilate dit aux principaux sacrificateurs et à la foule: Je ne trouve rien de coupable en cet homme.
Luke 23:4 ^
And Pilate said to the chief priests and the people, In my opinion this man has done no wrong.
Luc 23:5 ^
Mais ils insistèrent, et dirent: Il soulève le peuple, en enseignant par toute la Judée, depuis la Galilée, où il a commencé, jusqu`ici.
Luke 23:5 ^
But they became more violent than before, saying, He has made trouble among the people, teaching through all Judaea from Galilee to this place.
Luc 23:6 ^
Quand Pilate entendit parler de la Galilée, il demanda si cet homme était Galiléen;
Luke 23:6 ^
But at these words Pilate said, Is the man a Galilaean?
Luc 23:7 ^
et, ayant appris qu`il était de la juridiction d`Hérode, il le renvoya à Hérode, qui se trouvait aussi à Jérusalem en ces jours-là.
Luke 23:7 ^
And when he saw that he was under the authority of Herod, he sent him to Herod, who was in Jerusalem himself at that time.
Luc 23:8 ^
Lorsque Hérode vit Jésus, il en eut une grande joie; car depuis longtemps, il désirait le voir, à cause de ce qu`il avait entendu dire de lui, et il espérait qu`il le verrait faire quelque miracle.
Luke 23:8 ^
Now when Herod saw Jesus he was very glad, having for a long time had a desire to see him, for he had had accounts of him, and was hoping to see some wonders done by him.
Luc 23:9 ^
Il lui adressa beaucoup de questions; mais Jésus ne lui répondit rien.
Luke 23:9 ^
And he put a great number of questions to him, but he said nothing.
Luc 23:10 ^
Les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes étaient là, et l`accusaient avec violence.
Luke 23:10 ^
And the chief priests and the scribes were there, making statements against him violently.
Luc 23:11 ^
Hérode, avec ses gardes, le traita avec mépris; et, après s`être moqué de lui et l`avoir revêtu d`un habit éclatant, il le renvoya à Pilate.
Luke 23:11 ^
And Herod, with the men of his army, put shame on him and made sport of him, and dressing him in shining robes, he sent him back to Pilate.
Luc 23:12 ^
Ce jour même, Pilate et Hérode devinrent amis, d`ennemis qu`ils étaient auparavant.
Luke 23:12 ^
And that day Herod and Pilate became friends with one another, for before they had been against one another.
Luc 23:13 ^
Pilate, ayant assemblé les principaux sacrificateurs, les magistrats, et le peuple, leur dit:
Luke 23:13 ^
And Pilate sent for the chief priests and the rulers and the people, and said to them,
Luc 23:14 ^
Vous m`avez amené cet homme comme excitant le peuple à la révolte. Et voici, je l`ai interrogé devant vous, et je ne l`ai trouvé coupable d`aucune des choses dont vous l`accusez;
Luke 23:14 ^
You say that this man has been teaching the people evil things: now I, after going into the question before you, see nothing wrong in this man in connection with the things which you have said against him:
Luc 23:15 ^
Hérode non plus, car il nous l`a renvoyé, et voici, cet homme n`a rien fait qui soit digne de mort.
Luke 23:15 ^
And Herod is of the same opinion, for he has sent him back to us; for, you see, he has done nothing for which I might put him to death.
Luc 23:16 ^
Je le relâcherai donc, après l`avoir fait battre de verges.
Luke 23:16 ^
And so I will give him punishment and let him go.
Luc 23:17 ^
A chaque fête, il était obligé de leur relâcher un prisonnier.
Luke 23:17 ^

Luc 23:18 ^
Ils s`écrièrent tous ensemble: Fais mourir celui-ci, et relâche-nous Barabbas.
Luke 23:18 ^
But with loud voices they said all together, Put this man to death, and make Barabbas free.
Luc 23:19 ^
Cet homme avait été mis en prison pour une sédition qui avait eu lieu dans la ville, et pour un meurtre.
Luke 23:19 ^
Now this man was in prison because of an attack against the government in the town, in which there had been loss of life.
Luc 23:20 ^
Pilate leur parla de nouveau, dans l`intention de relâcher Jésus.
Luke 23:20 ^
And Pilate again said to them that it was his desire to let Jesus go free.
Luc 23:21 ^
Et ils crièrent: Crucifie, crucifie-le!
Luke 23:21 ^
But crying out they said, To the cross with him!
Luc 23:22 ^
Pilate leur dit pour la troisième fois: Quel mal a-t-il fait? Je n`ai rien trouvé en lui qui mérite la mort. Je le relâcherai donc, après l`avoir fait battre de verges.
Luke 23:22 ^
And he said to them a third time, Why, what evil has he done? I see no reason for putting him to death: I will give him punishment and let him go.
Luc 23:23 ^
Mais ils insistèrent à grands cris, demandant qu`il fût crucifié. Et leurs cris l`emportèrent:
Luke 23:23 ^
But they went on crying out loudly, Let him be put to death on the cross. And they had their way.
Luc 23:24 ^
Pilate prononça que ce qu`ils demandaient serait fait.
Luke 23:24 ^
And Pilate gave his decision for their desire to be put into effect.
Luc 23:25 ^
Il relâcha celui qui avait été mis en prison pour sédition et pour meurtre, et qu`ils réclamaient; et il livra Jésus à leur volonté.
Luke 23:25 ^
And in answer to their request, he let that man go free who had been in prison for acting against the government and causing death, and Jesus he gave up to their pleasure.
Luc 23:26 ^
Comme ils l`emmenaient, ils prirent un certain Simon de Cyrène, qui revenait des champs, et ils le chargèrent de la croix, pour qu`il la porte derrière Jésus.
Luke 23:26 ^
And while they were taking him away, they put their hands on Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and made him take the cross after Jesus.
Luc 23:27 ^
Il était suivi d`une grande multitude des gens du peuple, et de femmes qui se frappaient la poitrine et se lamentaient sur lui.
Luke 23:27 ^
And a great band of people went after him, and of women making signs of grief and weeping for him.
Luc 23:28 ^
Jésus se tourna vers elles, et dit: Filles de Jérusalem, ne pleurez pas sur moi; mais pleurez sur vous et sur vos enfants.
Luke 23:28 ^
But Jesus, turning to them, said, Daughters of Jerusalem, let not your weeping be for me, but for yourselves and for your children.
Luc 23:29 ^
Car voici, des jours viendront où l`on dira: Heureuses les stériles, heureuses les entrailles qui n`ont point enfanté, et les mamelles qui n`ont point allaité!
Luke 23:29 ^
For the days are coming in which they will say, Happy are those who have had no children, whose bodies have never given birth, whose breasts have never given milk.
Luc 23:30 ^
Alors ils se mettront à dire aux montagnes: Tombez sur nous! Et aux collines: Couvrez-nous!
Luke 23:30 ^
And they will say to the mountains, Come down on us, and to the hills, Be a cover over us.
Luc 23:31 ^
Car, si l`on fait ces choses au bois vert, qu`arrivera-t-il au bois sec?
Luke 23:31 ^
For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will they do when it is dry?
Luc 23:32 ^
On conduisait en même temps deux malfaiteurs, qui devaient être mis à mort avec Jésus.
Luke 23:32 ^
And two others, evil-doers, were taken with him to be put to death.
Luc 23:33 ^
Lorsqu`ils furent arrivés au lieu appelé Crâne, ils le crucifièrent là, ainsi que les deux malfaiteurs, l`un à droite, l`autre à gauche.
Luke 23:33 ^
And when they came to the place which is named Golgotha, they put him on the cross, and the evil-doers, one on the right side, and the other on the left.
Luc 23:34 ^
Jésus dit: Père, pardonne-leur, car ils ne savent ce qu`ils font. Ils se partagèrent ses vêtements, en tirant au sort.
Luke 23:34 ^
And Jesus said, Father, let them have forgiveness, for they have no knowledge of what they are doing. And they made division of his clothing among them by the decision of chance.
Luc 23:35 ^
Le peuple se tenait là, et regardait. Les magistrats se moquaient de Jésus, disant: Il a sauvé les autres; qu`il se sauve lui-même, s`il est le Christ, l`élu de Dieu!
Luke 23:35 ^
And the people were looking on. And the rulers made sport of him, saying, He was a saviour of others; let him do something for himself, if he is the Christ, the man of God's selection.
Luc 23:36 ^
Les soldats aussi se moquaient de lui; s`approchant et lui présentant du vinaigre,
Luke 23:36 ^
And the men of the army made sport of him, coming to him and giving him bitter wine,
Luc 23:37 ^
ils disaient: Si tu es le roi des Juifs, sauve-toi toi-même!
Luke 23:37 ^
And saying, If you are the King of the Jews, get yourself free.
Luc 23:38 ^
Il y avait au-dessus de lui cette inscription: Celui-ci est le roi des Juifs.
Luke 23:38 ^
And these words were put in writing over him, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Luc 23:39 ^
L`un des malfaiteurs crucifiés l`injuriait, disant: N`es-tu pas le Christ? Sauve-toi toi-même, et sauve-nous!
Luke 23:39 ^
And one of the evil-doers on the cross, with bitter feeling, said to him, Are you not the Christ? Get yourself and us out of this.
Luc 23:40 ^
Mais l`autre le reprenait, et disait: Ne crains-tu pas Dieu, toi qui subis la même condamnation?
Luke 23:40 ^
But the other, protesting, said, Have you no fear of God? for you have a part in the same punishment,
Luc 23:41 ^
Pour nous, c`est justice, car nous recevons ce qu`ont mérité nos crimes; mais celui-ci n`a rien fait de mal.
Luke 23:41 ^
And with reason; for we have the right reward of our acts, but this man has done nothing wrong.
Luc 23:42 ^
Et il dit à Jésus: Souviens-toi de moi, quand tu viendras dans ton règne.
Luke 23:42 ^
And he said, Jesus, keep me in mind when you come in your kingdom.
Luc 23:43 ^
Jésus lui répondit: Je te le dis en vérité, aujourd`hui tu seras avec moi dans le paradis.
Luke 23:43 ^
And he said to him, Truly I say to you, Today you will be with me in Paradise.
Luc 23:44 ^
Il était déjà environ la sixième heure, et il y eut des ténèbres sur toute la terre, jusqu`à la neuvième heure.
Luke 23:44 ^
And it was now about the sixth hour; and all the land was dark till the ninth hour;
Luc 23:45 ^
Le soleil s`obscurcit, et le voile du temple se déchira par le milieu.
Luke 23:45 ^
The light of the sun went out, and the curtain in the Temple was parted in two.
Luc 23:46 ^
Jésus s`écria d`une voix forte: Père, je remets mon esprit entre tes mains. Et, en disant ces paroles, il expira.
Luke 23:46 ^
And Jesus gave a loud cry and said, Father, into your hands I give my spirit: and when he had said this, he gave up his spirit.
Luc 23:47 ^
Le centenier, voyant ce qui était arrivé, glorifia Dieu, et dit: Certainement, cet homme était juste.
Luke 23:47 ^
And when the captain saw what was done, he gave praise to God, saying, Without doubt this was an upright man.
Luc 23:48 ^
Et tous ceux qui assistaient en foule à ce spectacle, après avoir vu ce qui était arrivé, s`en retournèrent, se frappant la poitrine.
Luke 23:48 ^
And all the people who had come together to see it, when they saw the things which were done, went back again making signs of grief.
Luc 23:49 ^
Tous ceux de la connaissance de Jésus, et les femmes qui l`avaient accompagné depuis la Galilée, se tenaient dans l`éloignement et regardaient ce qui se passait.
Luke 23:49 ^
And all his friends and the women who came with him from Galilee, were waiting at a distance, watching these things.
Luc 23:50 ^
Il y avait un conseiller, nommé Joseph, homme bon et juste,
Luke 23:50 ^
Now there was a man named Joseph, a man of authority and a good and upright man
Luc 23:51 ^
qui n`avait point participé à la décision et aux actes des autres; il était d`Arimathée, ville des Juifs, et il attendait le royaume de Dieu.
Luke 23:51 ^
(He had not given his approval to their decision or their acts), of Arimathaea, a town of the Jews, who was waiting for the kingdom of God:
Luc 23:52 ^
Cet homme se rendit vers Pilate, et demanda le corps de Jésus.
Luke 23:52 ^
This man went to Pilate and made a request for the body of Jesus.
Luc 23:53 ^
Il le descendit de la croix, l`enveloppa d`un linceul, et le déposa dans un sépulcre taillé dans le roc, où personne n`avait encore été mis.
Luke 23:53 ^
And he took it down, and folding it in a linen cloth, he put it in a place cut in the rock for a dead body; and no one had ever been put in it.
Luc 23:54 ^
C`était le jour de la préparation, et le sabbat allait commencer.
Luke 23:54 ^
Now it was the day of making ready and the Sabbath was coming on.
Luc 23:55 ^
Les femmes qui étaient venues de la Galilée avec Jésus accompagnèrent Joseph, virent le sépulcre et la manière dont le corps de Jésus y fut déposé,
Luke 23:55 ^
And the women who had come with him from Galilee went after him and saw the place and how his body had been put to rest;
Luc 23:56 ^
et, s`en étant retournées, elles préparèrent des aromates et des parfums. Puis elles se reposèrent le jour du sabbat, selon la loi.
Luke 23:56 ^
And they went back and got ready spices and perfumes; and on the Sabbath they took their rest, in agreement with the law.
