Amos 5:1 Ascoltate questa parola; questo lamento che io pronunzio su voi, o casa d’Israele!	Amos 5:1 Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel.
Amos 5:2 La vergine d’Israele è caduta, e non risorgerà più; giace distesa sul suo suolo né v’è chi la rialzi.	Amos 5:2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
Amos 5:3 Poiché così parla il Signore, l’Eterno: Alla città che metteva in campagna mille uomini, non ne resteranno che cento; alla città che ne metteva in campagna cento, non ne resteranno che dieci per la casa d’Israele.	Amos 5:3 For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, to the house of Israel.
Amos 5:4 Poiché così parla l’Eterno alla casa d’Israele: Cercatemi e vivrete!	Amos 5:4 For thus saith Jehovah unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live;
Amos 5:5 Non cercate Bethel, non andate a Ghilgal non vi recate fino a Beer-Sceba; perché Ghilgal andrà di sicuro in cattività, e Bethel sarà ridotto a niente.	Amos 5:5 but seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.
Amos 5:6 Cercate l’Eterno e vivrete, per tema ch’egli non s’avventi come un fuoco sulla casa di Giuseppe, e la divori senza che in Bethel ci sia chi spenga	Amos 5:6 Seek Jehovah, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el.
Amos 5:7 o voi che mutate il diritto in assenzio, e gettate a terra la giustizia.	Amos 5:7 Ye who turn justice to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,
Amos 5:8 Egli ha fatto le Pleiadi e Orione, muta l’ombra di morte in aurora, e fa del giorno una notte oscura; chiama le acque del mare, e le riversa sulla faccia della terra: il suo nome è l’Eterno.	Amos 5:8 [seek him] that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth (Jehovah is his name);
Amos 5:9 Egli fa sorger d’improvviso la ruina sui potenti, sì ché la ruina piomba sulle fortezze.	Amos 5:9 that bringeth sudden destruction upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.
Amos 5:10 Essi odiano colui che li riprende alla porta, e hanno in orrore che parla con integrità.	Amos 5:10 They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
Amos 5:11 Perciò, visto che calpestate il povero ed esigete da lui donativi di frumento, voi fabbricate case di pietre da taglio, ma non le abiterete; piantate vigne deliziose, ma non ne berrete il vino.	Amos 5:11 Forasmuch therefore as ye trample upon the poor, and take exactions from him of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink the wine thereof.
Amos 5:12 Poiché io conosco come son numerose le vostre trasgressioni, come son gravi i vostri peccati; voi sopprimete il giusto, accettate regali e fate torto ai poveri alla porta.	Amos 5:12 For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins-ye that afflict the just, that take a bribe, and that turn aside the needy in the gate [from their right].
Amos 5:13 Ecco perché, in tempi come questi, il savio si tace; perché i tempi sono malvagi.	Amos 5:13 Therefore he that is prudent shall keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.
Amos 5:14 Cercate il bene e non il male, onde viviate, e l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti, sia con voi, come dite.	Amos 5:14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say.
Amos 5:15 Odiate il male, amate il bene, e, alle porte, stabilite saldamente il diritto. Forse, l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti, avrà pietà del rimanente di Giuseppe.	Amos 5:15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate: it may be that Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
Amos 5:16 Perciò, così dice l’Eterno, l’Iddio degli eserciti, il Signore: In tutte le piazze si farà lamento, e in tutte le strade si dirà: "Ahimè! ahimè!" Si chiameranno gli agricoltori perché prendano il lutto, e si ordineranno lamentazioni a quelli che le sanno fare.	Amos 5:16 Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all the broad ways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! Alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.
Amos 5:17 In tutte le vigne si farà lamento, perché io passerò in mezzo a te, dice l’Eterno.	Amos 5:17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.
Amos 5:18 Guai a voi che desiderate il giorno dell’Eterno! Che v’aspettate voi dal giorno dell’Eterno? Sarà un giorno di tenebre, non di luce.	Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! Wherefore would ye have the day of Jehovah? It is darkness, and not light.
Amos 5:19 Sarà di voi come d’uno che fugge davanti a un leone, e lo incontra un orso; come d’uno ch’entra in casa, appoggia la mano sulla parete, e un serpente lo morde.	Amos 5:19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
Amos 5:20 Il giorno dell’Eterno non è esso forse tenebre, e non luce? oscurissimo e senza splendore?	Amos 5:20 Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Amos 5:21 Io odio, disprezzo le vostre feste, non prendo piacere nelle vostre solenni raunanze.	Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
Amos 5:22 Se m’offrite i vostri olocausti e le vostre oblazioni, io non li gradisco; e non fo conto delle bestie grasse, che m’offrite in sacrifizi di azioni di grazie.	Amos 5:22 Yea, though ye offer me your burnt-offerings and meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.
Amos 5:23 Lungi da me il rumore de’ tuoi canti! ch’io non oda più la musica de’ tuoi saltèri!	Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
Amos 5:24 Ma corra il diritto com’acqua, e la giustizia, come un rivo perenne!	Amos 5:24 But let justice roll down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
Amos 5:25 O casa d’Israele, mi presentaste voi sacrifizi e oblazioni nel deserto, durante i quarant’anni?	Amos 5:25 Did ye bring unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
Amos 5:26 Orbene voi vi toglierete in ispalla il baldacchino del vostro re, e il piedistallo delle vostre immagini, la stella dei vostri dèi, che voi vi siete fatti;	Amos 5:26 Yea, ye have borne the tabernacle of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
Amos 5:27 e vi farò andare in cattività al di là di Damasco, dice l’Eterno, che ha nome l’Iddio degli eserciti.	Amos 5:27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith Jehovah, whose name is the God of hosts.
