Esodo 32:1 Or il popolo, vedendo che Mosè tardava a scender dal monte, si radunò intorno ad Aaronne e gli disse: "Orsù, facci un dio, che ci vada dinanzi; poiché, quanto a Mosè, a quest’uomo che ci ha tratto dal paese d’Egitto, non sappiamo che ne sia stato".	Exodus 32:1 And when the people saw that Moses was a long time coming down from the mountain, they all came to Aaron and said to him, Come, make us a god to go before us: as for this Moses, who took us up out of the land of Egypt, we have no idea what has become of him.
Esodo 32:2 E Aaronne rispose loro: "Staccate gli anelli d’oro che sono agli orecchi delle vostre mogli, dei vostri figliuoli e delle vostre figliuole, e portatemeli".	Exodus 32:2 Then Aaron said to them, Take off the gold rings which are in the ears of your wives and your sons and your daughters, and give them to me.
Esodo 32:3 E tutto il popolo si staccò dagli orecchi gli anelli d’oro e li portò ad Aaronne,	Exodus 32:3 And all the people took the gold rings from their ears and gave them to Aaron.
Esodo 32:4 il quale li prese dalle loro mani, e, dopo averne cesellato il modello, ne fece un vitello di getto. E quelli dissero: "O Israele, questo è il tuo dio che ti ha tratto dal paese d’Egitto!"	Exodus 32:4 And he took the gold from them and, hammering it with an instrument, he made it into the metal image of a young ox: and they said, This is your god, O Israel, who took you out of the land of Egypt.
Esodo 32:5 Quando Aaronne vide questo, eresse un altare davanti ad esso, e fece un bando che diceva: "Domani sarà festa in onore dell’Eterno!"	Exodus 32:5 And when Aaron saw this, he made an altar before it, and made a public statement, saying, Tomorrow there will be a feast to the Lord.
Esodo 32:6 E l’indomani, quelli si levarono di buon’ora, offrirono olocausti e recarono de’ sacrifizi di azioni di grazie; e il popolo si adagiò per mangiare e bere, e poi si alzò per divertirsi.	Exodus 32:6 So early on the day after they got up and made burned offerings and peace-offerings; and took their seats at the feast, and then gave themselves to pleasure.
Esodo 32:7 E l’Eterno disse a Mosè: "Va’, scendi; perché il tuo popolo che hai tratto dal paese d’Egitto, s’è corrotto;	Exodus 32:7 And the Lord said to Moses, Go down quickly; for your people, whom you took out of the land of Egypt, are turned to evil ways;
Esodo 32:8 si son presto sviati dalla strada ch’io avevo loro ordinato di seguire; si son fatti un vitello di getto, l’hanno adorato, gli hanno offerto sacrifizi, e hanno detto: O Israele, questo è il tuo dio che ti ha tratto dal paese d’Egitto".	Exodus 32:8 Even now they are turned away from the rule I gave them, and have made themselves a metal ox and given worship to it and offerings, saying, This is your god, O Israel, who took you up out of the land of Egypt.
Esodo 32:9 L’Eterno disse ancora a Mosè: "Ho considerato bene questo popolo; ecco, è un popolo di collo duro.	Exodus 32:9 And the Lord said to Moses, I have been watching this people, and I see that they are a stiff-necked people.
Esodo 32:10 Or dunque, lascia che la mia ira s’infiammi contro a loro, e ch’io li consumi! ma di te io farò una grande nazione".	Exodus 32:10 Now do not get in my way, for my wrath is burning against them; I will send destruction on them, but of you I will make a great nation.
Esodo 32:11 Allora Mosè supplicò l’Eterno, il suo Dio, e disse: "Perché, o Eterno, l’ira tua s’infiammerebbe contro il tuo popolo che hai tratto dal paese d’Egitto con gran potenza e con mano forte?	Exodus 32:11 But Moses made prayer to God, saying, Lord, why is your wrath burning against your people whom you took out of the land of Egypt, with great power and with the strength of your hand?
Esodo 32:12 Perché direbbero gli Egiziani: Egli li ha tratti fuori per far loro del male, per ucciderli su per le montagne e per sterminarli di sulla faccia della terra? Calma l’ardore della tua ira e pèntiti del male di cui minacci il tuo popolo.	Exodus 32:12 Why let the Egyptians say, He took them out to an evil fate, to put them to death on the mountains, cutting them off from the earth? Let your wrath be turned away from them, and send not this evil on your people.
Esodo 32:13 Ricordati d’Abrahamo, d’Isacco e d’Israele, tuoi servi, ai quali giurasti per te stesso, dicendo loro: Io moltiplicherò la vostra progenie come le stelle de’ cieli; darò alla vostra progenie tutto questo paese di cui vi ho parlato, ed essa lo possederà in perpetuo".	Exodus 32:13 Have in mind Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you gave your oath, saying, I will make your seed like the stars of heaven in number, and all this land will I give to your seed, as I said, to be their heritage for ever.
Esodo 32:14 E l’Eterno si pentì del male che avea detto di fare al suo popolo.	Exodus 32:14 So the Lord let himself be turned from his purpose of sending punishment on his people.
Esodo 32:15 Allora Mosè si voltò e scese dal monte con le due tavole della testimonianza nelle mani: tavole scritte d’ambo i lati, di qua e di là.	Exodus 32:15 Then Moses came down the mountain with the two stones of the law in his hand; the stones had writing on their two sides, on the front and on the back.
Esodo 32:16 Le tavole erano opera di Dio, e la scrittura era scrittura di Dio, incisa sulle tavole.	Exodus 32:16 The stones were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, cut on the stones.
Esodo 32:17 Or Giosuè, udendo il clamore del popolo che gridava, disse a Mosè: "S’ode un fragore di battaglia nel campo".	Exodus 32:17 Now when the noise and the voices of the people came to the ears of Joshua, he said to Moses, There is a noise of war in the tents.
Esodo 32:18 E Mosè rispose: "Questo non è né grido di vittoria, né grido di vinti; il clamore ch’io odo e di gente che canta".	Exodus 32:18 And Moses said, It is not the voice of men who are overcoming in the fight, or the cry of those who have been overcome; it is the sound of songs which comes to my ear.
Esodo 32:19 E come fu vicino al campo vide il vitello e le danze; e l’ira di Mosè s’infiammò, ed egli gettò dalle mani le tavole e le spezzò appiè del monte.	Exodus 32:19 And when he came near the tents he saw the image of the ox, and the people dancing; and in his wrath Moses let the stones go from his hands, and they were broken at the foot of the mountain.
Esodo 32:20 Poi prese il vitello che quelli avea fatto, lo bruciò col fuoco, lo ridusse in polvere, sparse la polvere sull’acqua, la fece bere ai figliuoli d’Israele.	Exodus 32:20 And he took the ox which they had made, burning it in the fire and crushing it to powder, and he put it in the water and made the children of Israel take a drink of it.
Esodo 32:21 E Mosè disse ad Aaronne: "Che t’ha fatto questo popolo, che gli hai tirato addosso un sì gran peccato?"	Exodus 32:21 And Moses said to Aaron, What did the people do to you that you let this great sin come on them?
Esodo 32:22 Aaronne rispose: "L’ira del mio signore non s’infiammi; tu conosci questo popolo, e sai ch’è inclinato al male.	Exodus 32:22 And Aaron said, Let not my lord be angry; you have seen how the purposes of this people are evil.
Esodo 32:23 Essi m’hanno detto: Facci un di che ci vada dinanzi; poiché, quanto Mosè, a quest’uomo che ci ha tratti dal paese d’Egitto, non sappiamo che ne sia stato.	Exodus 32:23 For they said to me, Make us a god to go before us: as for this Moses, who took us up out of the land of Egypt, we have no idea what has come to him.
Esodo 32:24 E io ho detto loro: Chi ha dell’oro se lo levi di dosso! Essi me l’hanno dato; io l’ho buttato nel fuoco, e n’è venuto fuori questo vitello".	Exodus 32:24 Then I said to them, Whoever has any gold, let him take it off; so they gave it to me, and I put it in the fire, and this image of an ox came out.
Esodo 32:25 Quando Mosè vide che il popolo era senza freno e che Aaronne lo avea lasciato sfrenarsi esponendolo all’obbrobrio de’ suoi nemici,	Exodus 32:25 And Moses saw that the people were out of control, for Aaron had let them loose to their shame before their haters:
Esodo 32:26 si fermò all’ingresso del campo, e disse: "Chiunque è per l’Eterno, venga a me!" E tutti i figliuoli di Levi si radunarono presso a lui.	Exodus 32:26 Then Moses took his place at the way into the tents, and said, Whoever is on the Lord's side, let him come to me. And all the sons of Levi came together to him.
Esodo 32:27 Ed egli disse loro: "Così dice l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele: Ognun di voi si metta la spada al fianco; passate e ripassate nel campo, da una porta all’altra d’esso, e ciascuno uccida il fratello, ciascuno l’amico, ciascuno il vicino!"	Exodus 32:27 And he said to them, This is the word of the Lord, the God of Israel: Let every man take his sword at his side, and go from one end of the tents to the other, putting to death his brother and his friend and his neighbour.
Esodo 32:28 I figliuoli di Levi eseguirono l’ordine di Mosè e in quel giorno caddero circa tremila uomini.	Exodus 32:28 And the sons of Levi did as Moses said; and about three thousand of the people were put to death that day.
Esodo 32:29 Or Mosè avea detto: "Consacratevi oggi all’Eterno, anzi ciascuno si consacri a prezzo del proprio figliuolo e del proprio fratello, onde l’Eterno v’impartisca una benedizione".	Exodus 32:29 And Moses said, You have made yourselves priests to the Lord this day; for every one of you has made the offering of his son and his brother; the blessing of the Lord is on you this day.
Esodo 32:30 L’indomani Mosè disse al popolo: "Voi avete commesso un gran peccato; ma ora io salirò all’Eterno; forse otterrò che il vostro peccato vi sia perdonato".	Exodus 32:30 And on the day after, Moses said to the people, Great has been your sin: but I will go up to the Lord, and see if I may get forgiveness for your sin.
Esodo 32:31 Mosè dunque tornò all’Eterno e disse: "Ahimè, questo popolo ha commesso un gran peccato, e s’è fatto un dio d’oro;	Exodus 32:31 Then Moses went back to the Lord and said, This people has done a great sin, making themselves a god of gold;
Esodo 32:32 nondimeno, perdona ora il loro peccato! Se no, deh, cancellami dal tuo libro che hai scritto!"	Exodus 32:32 But now, if you will give them forgiveness--but if not, let my name be taken out of your book.
Esodo 32:33 E l’Eterno rispose a Mosè: "Colui che ha peccato contro di me, quello cancellerò dal mio libro!	Exodus 32:33 And the Lord said to Moses, Whoever has done evil against me will be taken out of my book.
Esodo 32:34 Or va’, conduci il popolo dove t’ho detto. Ecco, il mio angelo andrà dinanzi a te; ma nel giorno che verrò a punire, io li punirò del loro peccato".	Exodus 32:34 But now, go, take the people into that place of which I have given you word; see, my angel will go before you: but when the time of my judging has come, I will send punishment on them for their sin.
Esodo 32:35 E l’Eterno percosse il popolo, perch’esso era l’autore del vitello che Aaronne avea fatto.	Exodus 32:35 And the Lord sent punishment on the people because they gave worship to the ox which Aaron made.
