Giovanni 8	John 8
Giovanni 8:1 Gesù andò al monte degli Ulivi.	John 8:1 But Jesus went to the Mountain of Olives.
Giovanni 8:2 E sul far del giorno, tornò nel tempio, e tutto il popolo venne a lui; ed egli, postosi a sedere, li ammaestrava.	John 8:2 And early in the morning he came again into the Temple and all the people came to him and he was seated teaching them.
Giovanni 8:3 Allora gli scribi e i Farisei gli menarono una donna còlta in adulterio; e fattala stare in mezzo,	John 8:3 Now the scribes and Pharisees came, with a woman who had been taken in the act of sinning against the married relation;
Giovanni 8:4 gli dissero: Maestro, questa donna è stata còlta in flagrante adulterio.	John 8:4 And putting her forward, they said to him, Master, this woman has been taken in the very act of sinning against the married relation.
Giovanni 8:5 Or Mosè, nella legge, ci ha comandato di lapidare queste tali; e tu che ne dici?	John 8:5 Now in the law Moses gave directions that such women were to be stoned; what do you say about it?
Giovanni 8:6 Or dicean questo per metterlo alla prova, per poterlo accusare. Ma Gesù, chinatosi, si mise a scrivere col dito in terra.	John 8:6 They said this, testing him, so that they might have something against him. But Jesus, with his head bent down, made letters on the floor with his finger.
Giovanni 8:7 E siccome continuavano a interrogarlo, egli, rizzatosi, disse loro: Chi di voi è senza peccato, scagli il primo la pietra contro di lei.	John 8:7 But when they went on with their questions, he got up and said to them, Let him among you who is without sin be the first to send a stone at her.
Giovanni 8:8 E chinatosi di nuovo, scriveva in terra.	John 8:8 And again, with bent head, he made letters on the floor.
Giovanni 8:9 Ed essi, udito ciò, e ripresi dalla loro coscienza, si misero ad uscire ad uno ad uno, cominciando dai più vecchi fino agli ultimi; e Gesù fu lasciato solo con la donna che stava là in mezzo.	John 8:9 And when his words came to their ears, they went out one by one, starting with the oldest even to the last, because they were conscious of what was in their hearts: and Jesus was there by himself with the woman before him.
Giovanni 8:10 E Gesù, rizzatosi e non vedendo altri che la donna, le disse: Donna, dove sono que’ tuoi accusatori? Nessuno t’ha condannata?	John 8:10 Then Jesus got up, and seeing nobody but the woman, he said to her, Where are the men who said things against you? did no one give a decision against you?
Giovanni 8:11 Ed ella rispose: Nessuno, Signore. E Gesù le disse: Neppure io ti condanno; va’ e non peccar più.	John 8:11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, And I do not give a decision against you: go, and never do wrong again.]
Giovanni 8:12 Or Gesù parlò loro di nuovo, dicendo: Io son la luce del mondo; chi mi seguita non camminerà nelle tenebre, ma avrà la luce della vita.	John 8:12 Then again Jesus said to them, I am the light of the world; he who comes with me will not be walking in the dark but will have the light of life.
Giovanni 8:13 Allora i Farisei gli dissero: Tu testimoni di te stesso; la tua testimonianza non è verace.	John 8:13 So the Pharisees said to him, The witness you give is about yourself: your witness is not true.
Giovanni 8:14 Gesù rispose e disse loro: Quand’anche io testimoni di me stesso, la mia testimonianza è verace, perché so donde son venuto e donde vado; ma voi non sapete donde io vengo né dove vado.	John 8:14 Jesus said in answer, Even if I give witness about myself, my witness is true, because I have knowledge of where I came from and where I am going; but you have no knowledge of where I come from or of where I am going.
Giovanni 8:15 Voi giudicate secondo la carne; io non giudico alcuno.	John 8:15 You are judging from what you see; I am judging no man.
Giovanni 8:16 E anche se giudico, il mio giudizio è verace, perché non son solo, ma son io col Padre che mi ha mandato.	John 8:16 Even if I am judging, my decision is right, because I am not by myself--with me is the Father who sent me.
Giovanni 8:17 D’altronde nella vostra legge è scritto che la testimonianza di due uomini è verace.	John 8:17 Even in your law it is said that the witness of two men is true.
Giovanni 8:18 Or son io a testimoniar di me stesso, e il Padre che mi ha mandato testimonia pur di me.	John 8:18 I give witness about myself and the Father who sent me gives witness about me.
Giovanni 8:19 Onde essi gli dissero: Dov’è tuo padre? Gesù rispose: Voi non conoscete né me né il Padre mio: se conosceste me, conoscereste anche il Padre mio.	John 8:19 Then they said to him, Where is your Father? Jesus said in answer, You have no knowledge of me or of my Father: if you had knowledge of me you would have knowledge of my Father.
Giovanni 8:20 Queste parole disse Gesù nel tesoro, insegnando nel tempio; e nessuno lo prese, perché l’ora sua non era ancora venuta.	John 8:20 Jesus said these words in the place where the offerings were stored, while he was teaching in the Temple: but no man took him because his time was still to come.
Giovanni 8:21 Egli dunque disse loro di nuovo: Io me ne vado, e voi mi cercherete, e morrete nel vostro peccato; dove vado io, voi non potete venire.	John 8:21 Then he said to them again, I am going away and you will be looking for me, but death will overtake you in your sins. It is not possible for you to come where I am going.
Giovanni 8:22 Perciò i Giudei dicevano: S’ucciderà egli forse, poiché dice: Dove vado io voi non potete venire?	John 8:22 So the Jews said, Will he take his life? Is that why he says, Where I go it is not possible for you to come?
Giovanni 8:23 Ed egli diceva loro: Voi siete di quaggiù; io sono di lassù; voi siete di questo mondo; io non sono di questo mondo.	John 8:23 And he said to them, You are of the earth; I am from heaven: you are of this world; I am not of this world.
Giovanni 8:24 Perciò v’ho detto che morrete ne’ vostri peccati; perché se non credete che sono io (il Cristo), morrete nei vostri peccati.	John 8:24 For this reason I said to you that death will overtake you in your sins: for if you have not faith that I am he, death will come to you while you are in your sins.
Giovanni 8:25 Allora gli domandarono: Chi sei tu? Gesù rispose loro: Sono per l’appunto quel che vo dicendovi.	John 8:25 Then they said to him, Who are you? Jesus said, What I said to you from the first.
Giovanni 8:26 Ho molte cose da dire e da giudicare sul conto vostro; ma Colui che mi ha mandato è verace, e le cose che ho udite da lui, le dico al mondo.	John 8:26 I have much to say about you and against you: but he who sent me is true and what he has said to me I say to the world.
Giovanni 8:27 Essi non capirono ch’egli parlava loro del Padre.	John 8:27 They did not see that his words were about the Father.
Giovanni 8:28 Gesù dunque disse loro: Quando avrete innalzato il Figliuol dell’uomo, allora conoscerete che son io (il Cristo) e che non fo nulla da me, ma dico queste cose secondo che il Padre m’ha insegnato.	John 8:28 So Jesus said, When the Son of man has been lifted up by you, then it will be clear to you who I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but say as the Father gave me teaching.
Giovanni 8:29 E Colui che mi ha mandato è meco; Egli non mi ha lasciato solo, perché fo del continuo le cose che gli piacciono.	John 8:29 He who sent me is with me; he has not gone from me, because at all times I do the things which are pleasing to him.
Giovanni 8:30 Mentr’egli parlava così, molti credettero in lui.	John 8:30 When he said this a number came to have faith in him.
Giovanni 8:31 Gesù allora prese a dire a que’ Giudei che aveano creduto in lui: Se perseverate nella mia parola, siete veramente miei discepoli;	John 8:31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had faith in him, If you keep my word, then you are truly my disciples;
Giovanni 8:32 e conoscerete la verità, e la verità vi farà liberi.	John 8:32 And you will have knowledge of what is true, and that will make you free.
Giovanni 8:33 Essi gli risposero: noi siamo progenie d’Abramo, e non siamo mai stati schiavi di alcuno; come puoi tu dire: Voi diverrete liberi?	John 8:33 They said to him in answer, We are Abraham's seed and have never been any man's servant: why do you say, You will become free?
Giovanni 8:34 Gesù rispose loro: In verità, in verità vi dico che chi commette il peccato è schiavo del peccato.	John 8:34 And this was the answer Jesus gave them: Truly I say to you, Everyone who does evil is the servant of sin.
Giovanni 8:35 Or lo schiavo non dimora per sempre nella casa: il figliuolo vi dimora per sempre.	John 8:35 Now the servant does not go on living in the house for ever, but the son does.
Giovanni 8:36 Se dunque il Figliuolo vi farà liberi, sarete veramente liberi.	John 8:36 If then the son makes you free, you will be truly free.
Giovanni 8:37 Io so che siete progenie d’Abramo; ma cercate d’uccidermi, perché la mia parola non penetra in voi.	John 8:37 I am conscious that you are Abraham's seed; but you have a desire to put me to death because my word has no place in you.
Giovanni 8:38 Io dico quel che ho veduto presso il Padre mio; e voi pure fate le cose che avete udite dal padre vostro.	John 8:38 I say the things which I have seen in my Father's house: and you do the things which come to you from your father's house.
Giovanni 8:39 Essi risposero e gli dissero: Il padre nostro è Abramo. Gesù disse loro: Se foste figliuoli d’Abramo, fareste le opere d’Abramo;	John 8:39 In answer they said to him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children you would do what Abraham did.
Giovanni 8:40 ma ora cercate d’uccider me, uomo che v’ho detta la verità che ho udita da Dio; così non fece Abramo.	John 8:40 But now you have a desire to put me to death, a man who has said to you what is true, as I had it from God: Abraham did not do that.
Giovanni 8:41 Voi fate le opere del padre vostro. Essi gli dissero: Noi non siam nati di fornicazione; abbiamo un solo Padre: Iddio.	John 8:41 You are doing the works of your father. They said to him, We are true sons of Abraham; we have one Father, who is God.
Giovanni 8:42 Gesù disse loro: Se Dio fosse vostro Padre, amereste me, perché io son proceduto e vengo da Dio, perché io non son venuto da me, ma è Lui che mi ha mandato.	John 8:42 Jesus said to them, If God was your Father you would have love for me, because it was from God I came and am here. I did not come of myself, but he sent me.
Giovanni 8:43 Perché non comprendete il mio parlare? Perché non potete dare ascolto alla mia parola.	John 8:43 Why are my words not clear to you? It is because your ears are shut to my teaching.
Giovanni 8:44 Voi siete progenie del diavolo, ch’è vostro padre, e volete fare i desideri del padre vostro. Egli è stato omicida fin dal principio e non si è attenuto alla verità, perché non c’è verità in lui. Quando parla il falso, parla del suo, perché è bugiardo e padre della menzogna.	John 8:44 You are the children of your father the Evil One and it is your pleasure to do his desires. From the first he was a taker of life; and he did not go in the true way because there is no true thing in him. When he says what is false, it is natural to him, for he is false and the father of what is false.
Giovanni 8:45 E a me, perché dico la verità, voi non credete.	John 8:45 But because I say what is true, you have no belief in me.
Giovanni 8:46 Chi di voi mi convince di peccato? Se vi dico la verità, perché non mi credete?	John 8:46 Which of you is able truly to say that I am a sinner? If I say what is true, why have you no belief in me?
Giovanni 8:47 Chi è da Dio ascolta le parole di Dio. Per questo voi non le ascoltate; perché non siete da Dio.	John 8:47 He who is a child of God gives ear to the words of God: your ears are not open to them because you are not from God.
Giovanni 8:48 I Giudei risposero e gli dissero: Non diciam noi bene che sei un Samaritano e che hai un demonio?	John 8:48 The Jews said to him in answer, Are we not right in saying that you are of Samaria and have an evil spirit?
Giovanni 8:49 Gesù rispose: Io non ho un demonio, ma onoro il Padre mio e voi mi disonorate.	John 8:49 And this was the answer of Jesus: I have not an evil spirit; but I give honour to my Father and you do not give honour to me.
Giovanni 8:50 Ma io non cerco la mia gloria; v’è Uno che la cerca e che giudica.	John 8:50 I, however, am not in search of glory for myself: there is One who is searching for it and he is judge.
Giovanni 8:51 In verità, in verità vi dico che se uno osserva la mia parola, non vedrà mai la morte.	John 8:51 Truly I say to you, If a man keeps my word he will never see death.
Giovanni 8:52 I Giudei gli dissero: Or vediam bene che tu hai un demonio. Abramo e i profeti son morti, e tu dici: Se uno osserva la mia parola, non gusterà mai la morte.	John 8:52 The Jews said to him, Now we are certain that you have an evil spirit. Abraham is dead, and the prophets are dead; and you say, If a man keeps my word he will never see death.
Giovanni 8:53 Sei tu forse maggiore del padre nostro Abramo, il quale è morto? Anche i profeti son morti; chi pretendi d’essere?	John 8:53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: who do you say that you are?
Giovanni 8:54 Gesù rispose: S’io glorifico me stesso, la mia gloria è un nulla; chi mi glorifica è il Padre mio, che voi dite esser vostro Dio,	John 8:54 Jesus said in answer, If I take glory for myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father who gives me glory, of whom you say that he is your God.
Giovanni 8:55 e non l’avete conosciuto; ma io lo conosco, e se dicessi di non conoscerlo, sarei un bugiardo come voi; ma io lo conosco e osservo la sua parola.	John 8:55 You have no knowledge of him, but I have knowledge of him; and if I said I have no knowledge of him I would be talking falsely like you: but I have full knowledge of him, and I keep his word.
Giovanni 8:56 Abramo, vostro padre, ha giubilato nella speranza di vedere il mio giorno; e l’ha veduto, e se n’è rallegrato.	John 8:56 Your father Abraham was full of joy at the hope of seeing my day: he saw it and was glad.
Giovanni 8:57 I Giudei gli dissero: Tu non hai ancora cinquant’anni e hai veduto Abramo?	John 8:57 Then the Jews said to him, You are not fifty years old; have you seen Abraham?
Giovanni 8:58 Gesù disse loro: In verità, in verità vi dico: Prima che Abramo fosse nato, io sono.	John 8:58 Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into being, I am.
Giovanni 8:59 Allora essi presero delle pietre per tirargliele; ma Gesù si nascose ed uscì dal tempio.	John 8:59 So they took up stones to send at him: but Jesus got secretly out of their way and went out of the Temple.
