Luca 2:1 ^
Or in que’ di avvenne che un decreto uscì da parte di Cesare Augusto, che si facesse un censimento di tutto l’impero.
Luke 2:1 ^
Now it came about in those days that an order went out from Caesar Augustus that there was to be a numbering of all the world.
Luca 2:2 ^
Questo censimento fu il primo fatto mentre Quirinio governava la Siria.
Luke 2:2 ^
This was the first numbering, which was made when Quirinius was ruler of Syria.
Luca 2:3 ^
E tutti andavano a farsi registrare, ciascuno alla sua città.
Luke 2:3 ^
And all men went to be numbered, everyone to his town.
Luca 2:4 ^
Or anche Giuseppe salì di Galilea, dalla città di Nazaret, in Giudea, alla città di Davide, chiamata Betleem, perché era della casa e famiglia di Davide,
Luke 2:4 ^
And Joseph went up from Galilee, out of the town of Nazareth, into Judaea, to Beth-lehem, the town of David, because he was of the house and family of David,
Luca 2:5 ^
a farsi registrare con Maria sua sposa, che era incinta.

To be put on the list with Mary, his future wife, who was about to become a mother.
Luca 2:6 ^
E avvenne che, mentre eran quivi, si compié per lei il tempo del parto;

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.
Luca 2:7 ^
ed ella diè alla luce il suo figliuolo primogenito, e lo fasciò, e lo pose a giacere in una mangiatoia, perché non v’era posto per loro nell’albergo.
Luke 2:7 ^
And she had her first son; and folding him in linen, she put him to rest in the place where the cattle had their food, because there was no room for them in the house.
Luca 2:8 ^
Or in quella medesima contrada v’eran de’ pastori che stavano ne’ campi e facean di notte la guardia al loro gregge.
Luke 2:8 ^
And in the same country there were keepers of sheep in the fields, watching over their flock by night.
Luca 2:9 ^
E un angelo del Signore si presentò ad essi e la gloria del Signore risplendé intorno a loro, e temettero di gran timore.
Luke 2:9 ^
And an angel of the Lord came to them, and the glory of the Lord was shining round about them: and fear came on them.
Luca 2:10 ^
E l’angelo disse loro: Non temete, perché ecco, vi reco il buon annunzio di una grande allegrezza che tutto il popolo avrà:
Luke 2:10 ^
And the angel said, Have no fear; for truly, I give you good news of great joy which will be for all the people:
Luca 2:11 ^
Oggi, nella città di Davide, v’è nato un Salvatore, che è Cristo, il Signore.
Luke 2:11 ^
For on this day, in the town of David, a Saviour has come to birth, who is Christ the Lord.
Luca 2:12 ^
E questo vi servirà di segno: troverete un bambino fasciato e coricato in una mangiatoia.
Luke 2:12 ^
And this is the sign to you: you will see a young child folded in linen, in the place where the cattle have their food.
Luca 2:13 ^
E ad un tratto vi fu con l’angelo una moltitudine dell’esercito celeste, che lodava Iddio e diceva:
Luke 2:13 ^
And suddenly there was with the angel a great band of spirits from heaven, giving praise to God, and saying,
Luca 2:14 ^
Gloria a Dio ne’ luoghi altissimi, pace in terra fra gli uomini ch’Egli gradisce!
Luke 2:14 ^
Glory to God in the highest, and on the earth peace among men with whom he is well pleased.
Luca 2:15 ^
E avvenne che quando gli angeli se ne furono andati da loro verso il cielo, i pastori presero a dire tra loro: Passiamo fino a Betleem e vediamo questo che è avvenuto, e che il Signore ci ha fatto sapere.
Luke 2:15 ^
And when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the keepers of the sheep said to one another, Let us go now to Beth-lehem, and see this thing which has come about, which the Lord has made clear to us.
Luca 2:16 ^
E andarono in fretta, e trovarono Maria e Giuseppe ed il bambino giacente nella mangiatoia;
Luke 2:16 ^
And they came quickly, and saw Mary and Joseph, and the child in the place where the cattle had their food.
Luca 2:17 ^
e vedutolo, divulgarono ciò ch’era loro stato detto di quel bambino.
Luke 2:17 ^
And when they saw it, they gave them an account of the things which had been said to them about the child.
Luca 2:18 ^
E tutti quelli che li udirono si maravigliarono delle cose dette loro dai pastori.
Luke 2:18 ^
And all those to whose ears it came were full of wonder at the things said by the keepers of the sheep.
Luca 2:19 ^
Or Maria serbava in sé tutte quelle cose, collegandole insieme in cuor suo.
Luke 2:19 ^
But Mary kept all these words in her heart, and gave much thought to them.
Luca 2:20 ^
E i pastori se ne tornarono, glorificando e lodando Iddio per tutto quello che aveano udito e visto, com’era loro stato annunziato.
Luke 2:20 ^
Then the keepers of the sheep went back, giving glory and praise to God for all the things which had come to their ears and which they had seen, as it had been said to them.
Luca 2:21 ^
E quando furono compiuti gli otto giorni in capo ai quali e’ doveva esser circonciso, gli fu posto il nome di Gesù, che gli era stato dato dall’angelo prima ch’ei fosse concepito nel seno.
Luke 2:21 ^
And when, after eight days, the time came for his circumcision, he was named Jesus, the name which the angel had given to him before his birth.
Luca 2:22 ^
E quando furon compiuti i giorni della loro purificazione secondo la legge di Mosè, portarono il bambino in Gerusalemme per presentarlo al Signore,
Luke 2:22 ^
And when the necessary days for making them clean by the law of Moses had come to an end, they took him to Jerusalem to give him to the Lord
Luca 2:23 ^
com’è scritto nella legge del Signore: Ogni maschio primogenito sarà chiamato santo al Signore,
Luke 2:23 ^
(As it says in the law of the Lord, Every mother's first male child is to be holy to the Lord),
Luca 2:24 ^
e per offrire il sacrificio di cui parla la legge del Signore, di un paio di tortore o di due giovani piccioni.
Luke 2:24 ^
And to make an offering, as it is ordered in the law of the Lord, of two doves or other young birds.
Luca 2:25 ^
Ed ecco, v’era in Gerusalemme un uomo di nome Simeone; e quest’uomo era giusto e timorato di Dio, e aspettava la consolazione d’Israele; e lo Spirito Santo era sopra lui;
Luke 2:25 ^
And there was then in Jerusalem a man whose name was Simeon; and he was an upright man, fearing God and waiting for the comfort of Israel: and the Holy Spirit was on him.
Luca 2:26 ^
e gli era stato rivelato dallo Spirito Santo che non vedrebbe la morte prima d’aver veduto il Cristo del Signore.
Luke 2:26 ^
And he had knowledge, through the Holy Spirit, that he would not see death till he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Luca 2:27 ^
Ed egli, mosso dallo Spirito, venne nel tempio; e come i genitori vi portavano il bambino Gesù per adempiere a suo riguardo le prescrizioni della legge,
Luke 2:27 ^
And full of the Spirit he came into the Temple; and when the father and mother came in with the child Jesus, to do with him what was ordered by the law,
Luca 2:28 ^
se lo prese anch’egli nelle braccia, e benedisse Iddio e disse:
Luke 2:28 ^
Then he took him in his arms and gave praise to God and said,
Luca 2:29 ^
"Ora, o mio Signore, tu lasci andare in pace il tuo servo, secondo la tua parola;
Luke 2:29 ^
Now you are letting your servant go in peace, O Lord, as you have said;
Luca 2:30 ^
poiché gli occhi miei han veduto la tua salvezza,
Luke 2:30 ^
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
Luca 2:31 ^
che hai preparata dinanzi a tutti i popoli
Luke 2:31 ^
Which you have made ready before the face of all nations;
Luca 2:32 ^
per esser luce da illuminar le genti, e gloria del tuo popolo Israele".
Luke 2:32 ^
A light of revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.
Luca 2:33 ^
E il padre e la madre di Gesù restavano maravigliati delle cose che dicevan di lui.
Luke 2:33 ^
And his father and mother were full of wonder at the things which were said about him.
Luca 2:34 ^
E Simeone li benedisse, e disse a Maria, madre di lui: Ecco, questi è posto a caduta ed a rialzamento di molti in Israele, e per segno a cui si contradirà
Luke 2:34 ^
And Simeon gave them his blessing and said to Mary, his mother, See, this child will be the cause of the downfall and the lifting up of great numbers of people in Israel, and he will be a sign against which hard words will be said;
Luca 2:35 ^
(e a te stessa una spada trapasserà l’anima), affinché i pensieri di molti cuori sieno rivelati.
Luke 2:35 ^
(And a sword will go through your heart;) so that the secret thoughts of men may come to light.
Luca 2:36 ^
V’era anche Anna, profetessa, figliuola di Fanuel, della tribù di Aser, la quale era molto attempata. Dopo esser vissuta col marito sette anni dalla sua verginità,
Luke 2:36 ^
And there was one, Anna, a woman prophet, the daughter of Phanuel, of the family of Asher (she was very old, and after seven years of married life
Luca 2:37 ^
era rimasta vedova ed avea raggiunto gli ottantaquattro anni. Ella non si partiva mai dal tempio, servendo a Dio notte e giorno con digiuni ed orazioni.
Luke 2:37 ^
She had been a widow for eighty-four years); she was in the Temple at all times, worshipping with prayers and going without food, night and day.
Luca 2:38 ^
Sopraggiunta in quell’istessa ora, lodava anch’ella Iddio e parlava del bambino a tutti quelli che aspettavano la redenzione di Gerusalemme.
Luke 2:38 ^
And coming up at that time, she gave praise to God, talking of him to all those who were waiting for the freeing of Jerusalem.
Luca 2:39 ^
E come ebbero adempiuto tutte le prescrizioni della legge del Signore, tornarono in Galilea, a Nazaret, loro città.
Luke 2:39 ^
And when they had done all the things which were ordered by the law of the Lord, they went back to Galilee, to Nazareth, the town where they were living.
Luca 2:40 ^
E il bambino cresceva e si fortificava, essendo ripieno di sapienza; e la grazia di Dio era sopra lui.
Luke 2:40 ^
And the child became tall and strong and full of wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.
Luca 2:41 ^
Or i suoi genitori andavano ogni anno a Gerusalemme per la festa di Pasqua.
Luke 2:41 ^
And every year his father and mother went to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
Luca 2:42 ^
E quando egli fu giunto ai dodici anni, salirono a Gerusalemme, secondo l’usanza della festa;
Luke 2:42 ^
And when he was twelve years old, they went up, as their way was, to the feast;
Luca 2:43 ^
e passati i giorni della festa, come se ne tornavano, il fanciullo Gesù rimase in Gerusalemme all’insaputa dei genitori;
Luke 2:43 ^
And when the days of the feast came to an end and they were going back, the boy Jesus was still in Jerusalem, but they had no knowledge of it:
Luca 2:44 ^
i quali, stimando ch’egli fosse nella comitiva, camminarono una giornata, e si misero a cercarlo fra i parenti e i conoscenti;
Luke 2:44 ^
And in the belief that he was with some of their number, they went a day's journey; and after looking for him among their relations and friends,
Luca 2:45 ^
e, non avendolo trovato, tornarono a Gerusalemme facendone ricerca.
Luke 2:45 ^
And seeing that he was not there, they went back to Jerusalem, to make search for him.
Luca 2:46 ^
Ed avvenne che tre giorni dopo lo trovarono nel tempio, seduto in mezzo a’ dottori, che li ascoltava e faceva loro delle domande;
Luke 2:46 ^
And after three days they came across him in the Temple, seated among the wise men, giving ear to their words and putting questions to them.
Luca 2:47 ^
e tutti quelli che l’udivano, stupivano del suo senno e delle sue risposte.
Luke 2:47 ^
And all to whose ears it came were full of wonder at his knowledge and the answers which he gave.
Luca 2:48 ^
E, vedutolo, sbigottirono; e sua madre gli disse: Figliuolo, perché ci hai fatto così? Ecco, tuo padre ed io ti cercavamo, stando in gran pena.
Luke 2:48 ^
And when they saw him they were surprised, and his mother said to him, Son, why have you done this to us? see, your father and I have been looking for you with sorrow.
Luca 2:49 ^
Ed egli disse loro: Perché mi cercavate? Non sapevate ch’io dovea trovarmi nella casa del Padre mio?
Luke 2:49 ^
And he said to them, Why were you looking for me? was it not clear to you that my right place was in my Father's house?
Luca 2:50 ^
Ed essi non intesero la parola ch’egli avea lor detta.
Luke 2:50 ^
And his words seemed strange to them.
Luca 2:51 ^
E discese con loro, e venne a Nazaret, e stava loro sottomesso. E sua madre serbava tutte queste cose in cuor suo.
Luke 2:51 ^
And he went down with them and came to Nazareth; and did as he was ordered: and his mother kept all these words in her heart.
Luca 2:52 ^
E Gesù cresceva in sapienza e in statura, e in grazia dinanzi a Dio e agli uomini.
Luke 2:52 ^
And Jesus was increasing in wisdom and in years, and in grace before God and men.
