| Что же, скажем, Авраам, отец наш, приобрел по плоти? | What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? |
| Если Авраам оправдался делами, он имеет похвалу, но не пред Богом. | For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. |
| Ибо что говорит Писание? Поверил Авраам Богу, и это вменилось ему в праведность. | For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. |
| Воздаяние делающему вменяется не по милости, но по долгу. | Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt. |
| А не делающему, но верующему в Того, Кто оправдывает нечестивого, вера его вменяется в праведность. | But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness. |
| Так и Давид называет блаженным человека, которому Бог вменяет праведность независимо от дел: | Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, |
| Блаженны, чьи беззакония прощены и чьи грехи покрыты. | [saying], Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered. |
| Блажен человек, которому Господь не вменит греха. | Blessed is the man to whom, the Lord will not reckon sin. |
| Блаженство сие [относится] к обрезанию, или к необрезанию? Мы говорим, что Аврааму вера вменилась в праведность. | Is this blessing then pronounced upon the circumcision, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say, To Abraham his faith was reckoned for righteousness. |
| Когда вменилась? по обрезании или до обрезания? Не по обрезании, а до обрезания. | How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision: |
| И знак обрезания он получил, [как] печать праведности через веру, которую [имел] в необрезании, так что он стал отцом всех верующих в необрезании, чтобы и им вменилась праведность, | and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision; that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might be reckoned unto them; |
| и отцом обрезанных, не только [принявших] обрезание, но и ходящих по следам веры отца нашего Авраама, которую [имел он] в необрезании. | and the father of circumcision to them who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which he had in uncircumcision. |
| Ибо не законом [даровано] Аврааму, или семени его, обетование--быть наследником мира, но праведностью веры. | For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith. |
| Если утверждающиеся на законе суть наследники, то тщетна вера, бездейственно обетование; | For if they that are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect: |
| ибо закон производит гнев, потому что, где нет закона, нет и преступления. | for the law worketh wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there transgression. |
| Итак по вере, чтобы [было] по милости, дабы обетование было непреложно для всех, не только по закону, но и по вере потомков Авраама, который есть отец всем нам | For this cause [it is] of faith, that [it may be] according to grace; to the end that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all |
| (как написано: Я поставил тебя отцом многих народов) пред Богом, Которому он поверил, животворящим мертвых и называющим несуществующее, как существующее. | (as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were. |
| Он, сверх надежды, поверил с надеждою, через что сделался отцом многих народов, по сказанному: `так [многочисленно] будет семя твое`. | Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, So shall thy seed be. |
| И, не изнемогши в вере, он не помышлял, что тело его, почти столетнего, уже омертвело, и утроба Саррина в омертвении; | And without being weakened in faith he considered his own body now as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb; |
| не поколебался в обетовании Божием неверием, но пребыл тверд в вере, воздав славу Богу | yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God, |
| и будучи вполне уверен, что Он силен и исполнить обещанное. | and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. |
| Потому и вменилось ему в праведность. | Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. |
| А впрочем не в отношении к нему одному написано, что вменилось ему, | Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him; |
| но и в отношении к нам; вменится и нам, верующим в Того, Кто воскресил из мертвых Иисуса Христа, Господа нашего, | but for our sake also, unto whom it shall be reckoned, who believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, |
| Который предан за грехи наши и воскрес для оправдания нашего. | who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification. |
