| Nầy, Đức Giê-hô-va làm cho đất trống không và hoang vu; Ngài lật đổ mặt đất và làm tan lạc dân cư. | See, the Lord is making the earth waste and unpeopled, he is turning it upside down, and sending the people in all directions. |
| Thầy tế lễ như chúng dân, ông chủ như đầy tớ trai, bà chủ như đầy tớ gái, kẻ bán như người mua, kẻ cho mượn như người mượn, kẻ lấy lợi như người nộp lợi, ai cũng đồng một thể. | And it will be the same for the people as for the priest; for the servant as for his master; and for the woman-servant as for her owner; the same for the one offering goods for a price as for him who takes them; the same for him who gives money at interest and for him who takes it; the same for him who lets others have the use of his property as for those who make use of it. |
| Trên đất sẽ đều trống không và hoang vu cả; vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán lời ấy. | The earth will be completely waste and without men; for this is the word of the Lord. |
| Đất thảm thương và tồi tàn; thế gian lụn bại và tồi tàn; những dân cao nhứt trên đất hao mòn đi. | The earth is sorrowing and wasting away, the world is full of grief and wasting away, the high ones of the earth come to nothing. |
| Đất bị dân cư làm ô uế, vì họ đã phạm luật pháp, trái điều răn, dứt giao ước đời đời. | The earth has been made unclean by those living in it; because the laws have not been kept by them, the orders have been changed, and the eternal agreement has been broken. |
| Vậy nên sự rủa sả thiêu nuốt đất, những người ở trên nó mắc tội. Vì cớ đó dân trên đất bị đốt cháy, chỉ còn ít người sót lại. | For this cause the earth is given up to the curse, and those in it are judged as sinners: for this cause those living on the earth are burned up, and the rest are small in number. |
| Rượu mới than vãn, cây nho tàn héo, mọi kẻ vốn có lòng vui đều than thở; | The new wine is thin, the vine is feeble, and all the glad-hearted make sounds of grief. |
| những kẻ đánh trống không đánh nữa, tiếng mừng rỡ hết rồi, dọng vui đờn cầm đã dứt. | The pleasing sound of all instruments of music has come to an end, and the voices of those who are glad. |
| Chẳng còn vừa uống rượu vừa hát nữa; những tay ghiền rượu cho rượu mạnh là cay đắng. | There is no more drinking of wine with a song; strong drink will be bitter to those who take it. |
| Thành hoang loạn đã đổ nát; nhà cửa đều đóng lại, không ai vào được. | The town is waste and broken down: every house is shut up, so that no man may come in. |
| Người ta kêu la trong đường phố vì cớ rượu; mọi sự vui đều trở nên tăm tối; sự mừng rỡ trong xứ đi đâu rồi! | There is a crying in the streets because of the wine; there is an end of all delight, the joy of the land is gone. |
| Trong thành vắng vẻ, cửa thành phá hoại! | In the town all is waste, and in the public place is destruction. |
| Vì giữa các dân trên đất sẽ giống như lúc người ta rung cây ô-li-ve, và như khi mót trái nho sau mùa hái trái. | For it will be in the heart of the earth among the peoples, like the shaking of an olive-tree, as the last of the grapes after the getting-in is done. |
| Những kẻ nầy sẽ cất tiếng lên, kêu rao; từ nơi biển kêu lớn tiếng vui mừng vì sự uy nghiêm Đức Giê-hô-va. | But those will be making sounds of joy; they will be crying loudly from the sea for the glory of the Lord. |
| Vậy hãy tôn vinh Đức Giê-hô-va trong phương đông, hãy tôn vinh danh Đức Giê-hô-va, Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, trong các cù lao biển! | Give praise to the Lord in the east, to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, in the sea-lands. |
| Chúng ta đã nghe từ nơi đầu cùng đất hát rằng: Vinh hiển cho kẻ công bình! Nhưng tôi nói: Tôi bị gầy mòn, tôi bị gầy mòn! Những kẻ gian dối làm gian dối, phải, kẻ gian dối làm gian dối lắm! | From the farthest part of the earth comes the sound of songs, glory to the upright. But I said, I am wasting away, wasting away, the curse is on me! The false ones go on in their false way, yes, they go on acting falsely. |
| Hỡi dân cư trên đất, sự kinh hãi, hầm và bẫy đến trên ngươi. | Fear, and death, and the net, are come on you, O people of the earth. |
| Kẻ nào trốn khỏi tiếng kinh hãi, sẽ sa xuống hầm; nếu lên khỏi hầm, sẽ mắc vào lưới. Vì các cửa sổ trên trời đều mở ra, các nền dưới đất đều rung rinh. | And it will be that he who goes in flight from the sound of fear will be overtaken by death; and he who gets free from death will be taken in the net: for the windows on high are open, and the bases of the earth are shaking. |
| Đất đều tan nát, đất đều vỡ lở, đất đều rúng động. | The earth is completely broken, it is parted in two, it is violently moved. |
| Đất lay động như người say; lỏng chỏng như cái võng, tội lỗi chất lên trên nặng trĩu, nó sẽ đổ xuống và không dậy được nữa! | The earth will be moving uncertainly, like a man overcome by drink; it will be shaking like a tent; and the weight of its sin will be on it, crushing it down so that it will not get up again. |
| Xảy ra trong ngày đó, Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ phạt các cơ binh nơi cao ở trên trời, phạt các vua thế gian ở trên đất. | And in that day the Lord will send punishment on the army of the high ones on high, and on the kings of the earth on the earth. |
| Họ sẽ nhóm lại cùng nhau, bị cầm trong hầm như tù bị nhốt trong ngục; cách lâu ngày, sẽ đều bị phạt. | And they will be got together, like prisoners in the prison-house; and after a long time they will have their punishment. |
| Mặt trăng sẽ xấu hổ, mặt trời sẽ mắc cỡ; vì Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân sẽ trị vì trên núi Si-ôn, tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; và sự vinh hiển sẽ chói lói trước mặt các trưởng lão. | Then the moon will be veiled, and the sun put to shame; for the Lord of armies will be ruling in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before his judges he will let his glory be seen. |
